well I didnt actually carry the pig out undressed the weight was measured in the field. my partner that walked in there with me was carrying a hanging spring scale. the only reason for that was in hopes that that other big guy was there and I wanted to get a weight on him before skined and dressed. I carried him out skinned and dressed and you gotta remember too a lot of weight was bone that sorta makes up for the 48 some odd pounds lost at the butcher. I got the pictures devoleped I just got to get my girl friend to scan them and put them on here cause I have no Idea how to do that. thanks

well I guess I wasnt aware of what I have till reading your posts. I was going to do the skull myself till I read that website you all were talking about. I took it to the taxidermy this morning to get it done. I guess they use bugs and enzymes to eat the flesh and stuff out because boiling causes shrinkage. he said it will be like 60 or so days till it can be measured officially. when I measured the 15 1/8 inch I was going by an old book that I had. he measured in a head jig with a caliper for a closer green measurment of 15 1/4. cant wait to get it done. I still havent got the film devoleped and put on a disk but as soon as I do I will try to post them. Oh and thanks for that link to javelinahunter it helped alot

take an old electrical panel that is used to put breakers in cut a hole in the lid and lag bolt it to the tree from the inside then lock and chain the lid of the box. if anyone sees it they probally wont even want to spend the time to steal it

a monster shed -
went out today with terry (25-06) to a new spot. Hiked in a few miles on the way jumped a buck with some decent height on the antlers but couldnt tell how many points it had we tried to stalk him for a while with no luck. then we made our way to a pond that was a few more miles in and set up Terry went off to do his own thing while I sat there waiting for my big ole buck to appear not fifteen minutes after he left I heard a deer coming from his direction that he spooled down towards me it ran about 10 feet behind me with its little forks on its head and NEVER SAW ME I didnt get a chance for a picture or a chance to even draw back my bow. about half an hour later two doe cam up on the pond and were drinking 30 yards from me for a few minutes then left I got a few pics. Terry finally came back and said he had found a lion kill up the mountain and not five minutes after he sat down the javelina started coming and coming and coming (lol) we counted about 20 full size and 5 piglets. I got a few pics of that. well they stuck around fighting and such for about half an hour and never looked our direction once. ( we had an awesome spot set up) the javi finally left and so did terry to find the rest of the lion kill(coues??? no head) while he was gone 2 more doe came in for water. by this time I was about 5 hours of sitting and we had a long walk back so when terry got back we walked over where the deer had been coming from and down on to the shore of the pond. there were lion tracks all around the pond. we walked about a quater mile off the water and found 2 lion kills not 50 yards apart one a calf and the other a doe on the way out we stopped to look at the pond one final time before cresting the hill (1000 yards from pond) glassed it and all be damned if there werent more deer drinking even after we just walked all over it and left our scent? we got back to the truck and ate some moose meatloaf sandwiches and headed out. all in all it was a really good day and a really nice spot to come back to for my javi hunt in feb and for the rest of archery season. sorry to be so long winded I am gonna try once more to post some pictures

Neat finds while roaming the hills
muledeerarea33? replied to GRONG's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
me and my dad were in 28 hunting about 10 years ago and found an old wagon wheel burried about half way in the dirt. took us a few hours but we got it dug out I guess where we were there used to be an old wagon trail running thru like a 100 or so years ago. the second thing I found wasnt exactly on a hunting trip. I was going up to showlow to visit my grandfather and while driving thru saltriver canyon on the ontop of one of the picknick tables at the pullouts was an indian man with paint on his face and a knife in his back!! I was by myself with no cell phone at about midnight. I was so frieking scared I hauled butt to the gas station up the road tried to tell the lady what I saw but was shaking and couldnt talk I never found out what happened with that one but it was surely an eye opening experience and kept my butt awake for the rest of the trip. -
http://www.jingleshells.com/flash_content/flash_content.html thought this was pretty funny might not want to show it to young kids that like reindeer.

Looking for a needle in a haystack
muledeerarea33? replied to bullwidgeon's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Bull, From what I have read on the AZ game and fish website, some sheep are transplants and there might only be a couple hundred in a unit (I think that was 27). That would definately be looking for the proverbial needle. Good luck to you guys!-Shiras in 27 there are more dang sheep than rabbits every day my mom drives to work up there she gets pissed off about all the tourists going up the trail stopping in the road to look at the sheep she calls them the grenlee county rats -
