I have been going back and forth between getting a new rifle or having my old 30-06 rebarreled and blued. I am leaning toward getting the ole girl back shooting good again but I am having a hard time finding a gunsmith in Tucson to do the work. I called Harry Lawsons they have done some work in the past and are very very good I think but they are also very very busy. the response I get from every other smith or gun shop is "nope we don't do that anymore, no dont know anyone that does. They are all either dead or too old" I am willing to drive to phoenix or sierra vista as long as they can have it done before my november hunt with a little time for break in. I appericiate any reccomendations thanks Daniel

I think we had this topic last year but dont really remember? what is everyones opinion on having a fire while on a hunt. if you are camping within a few miles of your prime hunting area because if you dont the prime spot might be taken by another hunter is it ok to have a fire? if you are several miles from where you are hunting is it ok? what do you guys think

Second chance to pay tag fees for any one who applied online
muledeerarea33? replied to MT. CAT's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I dont see the big deal here. If they say no checks how hard is it to take money out of the bank and go buy a money order? if your gonna put it on a credit card and cant afford the tag fees then you need to cut your personal debt. thats americas debt prolbem anyways -
whats the amount of bonus points you need before they draw you? I have 8 as of this year

they really werent doing much to stop the burn just maintaining it. kinda like a perscribed burn. they needed to get rid of some of that brush up that way anyway since the inviro's wont let them clear just mother nature taking over -

First off some of the mini 30s are very inaccurate weapons as are the mini14s but there are ways to help it. as far as the cleaning try your stainless brush first and if it is still dirty break the gun down to just the barrel and action. try performing a procedure called reverse plating. bassicly you plug the chamber end of the barrel with rubber find a rod that is about an inch longer than the barrel and smaller in diameter than the caliber. the rod goes in the barrel and touches the rubber stop at the other end By no means can the rod touch the barrel. fill the barrel with amonia (I use a concentrated winshield washer solvent that I get from work. works great.) then take a 6v battery with some jumper wires. connectone to the rod and one to the gun . the solution should start bubbling or foaming. keep an eye on it as you will have to refill occasionally. let it run for about an hour then dump it out and clean normally. if its still dirty do it again a few times. I have stripped some pretty nasty stuff out of old millitary rifles that normal cleaning couldnt get. you can find all this info online in various places. as for the action sticking closed I know on mine that the gas tube gets really dirty on the ribs and a little steel wool takes care of that and frees it up nicely. If the gun is still inaccurate as was my mini14. remove the front site cut 1inch off the barrel recrown and reinstall the site. if your not comfortable doing this take it to a gunsmith. I know it took my mini from about 4-6 inch groups at 100yards to just under 2inches. wich is pretty good for a mini. the only other option i know of is spend the 800 bucks on a accuracy kit. hope this helps you out and doenst just look like a ramble.
