the Duke looks proud of that ram.

+1 a little much and too many chances of breakage, wheel bearing, ball joints, cv issues, etc. just my opinion from fixing lots and lots of lifted trucks.
-
Great story and animal. 3b has been choice two or three for me for many years. One day maybe.

I like the paper mostly because I am paid in full from the get go. Something may come up around draw time that requires me to use the set aside money for tag fees.

archery deer limit questions
muledeerarea33? replied to kingbeer's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Some people just can't kill coyotes, They don't kill unless they'll eat it, reminds them of a previous pet, etc. whatever the case may be. Don't Kill them if you don't want to. Also dont complain when your hunting area has less deer year after year, your cats and dogs come up missing, and your bored on an off season weekend and say you have nothing to do. -
I'm all about the paper. Don't mind the online system but I prefer the old fashioned way.

Wolf Bloodline Authenticity
muledeerarea33? replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in The Campfire
I remember when they first brought them up the mountain. They stopped for gas and we all went out to look into the cages in the back of the trucks. all I'll say is if the first wolves they brought up are pure bread mexican gray, they sure didnt look like any past pictures I'd ever seen. -
looks like his momma was a jersey cow!!

I've set up a main camp by the truck and spike camped a few times. I'm no expert as I usually throw enough stuff in my pack just incase I can't or don't want to make it back to the truck. To be blunt, I usually wake up early, have cofee, breakfast, and a big D!! I'll drink a few liters of water at camp. I'll pack enough jerky and granola to get me back the next day as well as a gallon of water. Usually if I spike camp in October (where I hunt) a very light fleece blanket, a metal cup, and a few packs of Starbucks instant cofee (try it!!) is all I need. I get wore out and tired enough by the night time that I can sleep anywhere.

Wow!!! Could it be that the young man is smarter than a high percentage of adults. Or could it be Dad and Mom are just teaching him how things are. I would just say to those that think they own their so called spots. Go home and check your legal documents, to see what you have deeds for. And note that if you really want to hunt on what's yours you will probably be hunting in your backyard!!! No one is in their spot 24/7. And first come first serve I thought was clear as mud. Get over it and have a back up plan. Or go back to camp or the computer and continue to whine about it. While others are enjoying hunting. Take care, Willie For a snot nosed little punk, he aint that bad of a kid. well, not much of a kid anymore

I'll be headed out in December.

Can I thaw out elk and re freeze it ??????
muledeerarea33? replied to Adicted's topic in The Campfire
I've done it with deer and rabbit and lived to talk about it -
Like outdoor writer said.. Twice the hunts with the tags split between the two doesn't increase draw odds. It no different than having the same hunt and same tag amounts. If you cut two apples in half, you still have two apples!
-
Again, thanks for clearing it up for me. I suppose my question now is why do they rotate the minimal # of rifle tags between the units but still give out lots of archery tags every year for every unit mentioned?
-
I didn't know that? Thanks for clearing it up for me. If I remember right (probably not) I have put in for early 27 and unit 1 in the past. My only 3 choices anymore are 1 or 27 1st and 2nd and 3b muzzle loader 3rd. I always remember having 3 choices on my app until this years draw I only put 2 choices because 27 wasn't an option.

The real trophy is the hunt itself, second is the freezer full of meat, third is the tasteless antlers. As stated earlier, If I made a bad shot and stuck with it for days on end I'd be proud to hang the antlers. If I had a tag and found a huge bull that had been shot and was rotten I wouldn't even think of cutting the head off and sticking a tag on it! That ain't hunting.
-
are you saying if you make a bad shot, look for 4 days and find it, is it yours? Or are you saying if someone else shoots it and Joe Schmo finds it 4 days later and claims it? I'd be proud to hang a trophy on my wall that I shot and found 4 days later. I'd be sick as heck if I lost the meat, most would be.

+1. You've harped on me in the past oneshot, I've done the same to you. I still log in a few times a day and see a post or two of mine that you've "liked" and I know there's been atleast a few of yours that I have liked. I enjoy your old man knowledge and respect your perspective on alot of stuff. Believe it or not, I was on the phone last night with another cwt member and you came up. Nothing but good stuff about your posts was said. However, I will say... Man up, take it on the chin and get back out there champ! If not? Members come and go. I've been here since 05ish, I've seen my share take off.

Unit 1, 27, and 3B used to be a triangle of awesomeness!! The res bulls and cows would cross freely and often all times of year, even hunting seasons. These units are still very good (especially the 1/27 border) but nothing like they were years back. I won't use the "greed" word but why raise the number of archery tags? And this year 27 early rifle is non existent but early archery hunts still go on as scheduled. Why take away the 25 rifle tags and still allow 100's of archery tags? I'm in no way an expert on managing wildlife but I'd prefer having a few less archery and maybe, a BIG! Maybe a few more early rifle tags. I'm guessing they give more archery tags because they assume success rates are lower with a bow? Archery equipment and hunters now a days are pretty dang good with their bows.
-
What about the guys who've been waiting for years for a trophy rifle tag? More hunters in the woods just before the rifle hunt isn't good. I may change my opinion after I draw a tag and kill a bull haha, nothin but cow (meat) hunts after that. I just want 1.

Wow!! Thought that bull was gonna walk up and lick the camera!
