I'll get with you Dustin. Populations are looking good this year. We had three hatches this year and the survival rate seems higher than most years previous. I don't feel as bad hunting them this year lol

    164 7/8" Coues

One and only question. I don't want an exact but where abouts in 27 was it killed? The back ground could be anywhere but it looks like a place on a hillside I knew well growing up. Thanks for posting the story, that deer has more inches than my last 3 deer!

how to cool down meat after kill

Get it open to the bone as quick as you can. Ice chests, sleeping bags, sheets, and shade is your friend this time of year. Winter there's more time. Just get the guts seperated from the meat and the meat free from the bone as quick as possible and it'll be ok.

AT&T Service Coverage in the White Mountains???

I get 3G in show low and "E" in some places out of town. Very bad coverage unless your in the city. Verizon will run maps on the phone with some call service. AT&T won't. Not worth it.

    Found Pistol

I don't keep it in the safe. If they get in the safe and steal the guns then they steal the flash drive too. I keep mine in another place. Also keep a few copies in different spots they won't look (hopefully)

    rabbits?

for sure it's a good hunt for lean meat! Don't discount jacks, more meat and from my experience they tend to be healthier than cotton tail. Jack rabbit is a hare just like most all domestic meat rabbits.

    rabbits?

The months that have an "R" thing doesn't really apply here. How hot is September compared to January? I've seen em covered in bugs and wormy with snow on the ground in the cold country. Also I've seen them clean with no fleas or worms in July in the desert. I've read a few papers from university extension programs from different states. They give pictures and signs to watch out for in a diseased rabbit such as organ spotting, sores etc.

    rabbits?

I do. Usually around the house. They get so overpopulated if they're not thinned out where I'm at. Good table fare and dog food.

    Expired

the new car salesmen are worse, trust me!! But the saleswomen are lookers! And make more money. I'll never knock a salesman, they make more money than the guys that have to fix the crappy cars they sell haha!! This is fact

Video of Natives Hunting With Spears

Gruesome per today's U.S. standards but a way of life to those tribes who do it to eat. No trophy hunting or "ethical" shots with that group. Just a kill it and make it quit moving attitude!! Very few butcher shops to buy meat from in the heart of Africa I'm sure.
  18. That gun laying in dirt is like fingernails on chalk board my friend! 😩 got checked by border patrol once on a pond off I-10. They snuck up like I was a criminal! "Sir put your gun on the ground!!!" I said "no, it's a nice shotgun, I'm gonna lean it on this tree" they were mad but respectful. Just looking for some wets that had been reported there recently before I showed up. Never put my shot gun on the dirt lol.

Sick of hearing about you missing

Aka, you've seen posts about people saying "it only took one box of ammo" from this year?? Were they bear hunters or varmint hunters? I'm not aware of any other rifle hunts going on yet? Although maybe there is?

Sick of hearing about you missing

I won't say he buried himself or jump on the band wagon of hate (as much as I love a good 20 pager!!) I don't know where it came from honestly? I've only seen one or two posts the past month of wounded animals and it seemed in each that the guys tried really hard to recover. I can understand where he's coming from. He may have never missed before or may just be sick of bad shots. Either or isn't a bad thing. We all strive for perfection!! But in reality it's bound to happen, misses, wounded stuff. Most folks get sick thinking of it.

Sick of hearing about you missing

In 22 years of huntin years I've harvested about 15 deer. None hit that I couldn't find but have had total misses. About 4 years ago I looked for blood on a deer that I thought I had killed at 80yards. Rifle shot. I shot hiim (I thought?) then turned to watch the other 4 bucks for a buddy who had never hunted before. He didn't shoot so we walked to mine. No deer and no blood. 6 days later I had ruined his hunt looking for a deer I never hit but thought I should of. Misses happen just like mistakes. Try not to make the same one twice.
