I found one in 27 but it was taken by G&F for investigation and not returned. No hair or meat. dead a year or longer. Was a full curl plus a half. Think he wanted it for his collection, my fault for calling it in I guess. Yours is awesome Amanda!! Looks really wide!

Effects of so many monsters killed on the strip this year
muledeerarea33? replied to bonecollector777's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
That's a fact. I've hunted in this state for over 30 years and around some of the top hunters in premium units. 20-30 years ago there was not a fraction of the big bucks and bulls that get killed today. It was a big deal to kill a coues over 100" back then or a bull over 350. Now it's the norm. back in those day a coues over 100, an elk over 350, or a mulie over 180 was rarely scored. Score didn't matter. Width was a big deal and big buck contests were based on body weight. Now a days is all antler size. A lot of big animals were killed in the 80's, 90's and pry earlier that antler size wasn't too priority. Times have changed. -

Do I gotta change it or is it automatic? Mines still green and brown. -
What Dano said! I have the big buddy in my well house with two 7 gallon tanks. 14 gallons lasts a few months in the winter to keep stuff above freezing.

Most Prized Waterfowl
muledeerarea33? replied to SwampMafia's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
If Sandhills crane counts I'd like to get one, eat it and have it mounted. Not real sure how bird mounts work, do you still get the meat if your mounting one? Like a deer, elk, etc. I know most fish are just air brushed replicas but don't know about birds. -
Two bucks and probably 8-10 doe in the yard yesterday morning. The bigger of the two seemed to be rutting. As the picture shows he was workin on gettin a good sniff of that doe. His neck was swolen real good too. The smaller one was about 40 yards behind with his own group of doe (or the doe that the bigger one gave him lol)

Mearns with the Old Lady
muledeerarea33? replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Sounds like she's been a good dog, not owning a hunting dog my self, when do they retire? She's beautiful but has signs of age. And as you say deafness is there or coming soon. I understand dogs are family (all mine are) and they like running and playing, but when is a hunting dog done? -
haha! Free tractor turned out not to be so free after all. Might sell it.

Hard to see but the bigger one was a 4x5 from what I could tell, really tall rack but didn't seem to have much mass, guessing 24-26" spread but not sure.

this is the only hunting site I look at, love the content and people, love the owner and moderators (they all do a good job!!) but I would love a 50 pager here!!!! Best one we've had was 20 or almost 20 and it was good!!! I imagine 50 plages would be flipping EPIC!!!!! Bring it on boys! -
like meat turns rotten and expires, so do these threads. Not a moderator.

Maybe check if they have an extension program at a college around town? I think UofA used to but don't know Phoenix.

I'm thinking this is a joke? I think 27 is hands down the "biggest", wildest unit. Gotta be fewer roads than any other and a LOT of wilderness area. I spend 30+ days a year exploring 27 and have been for a lot of years and there is still a lot of country i haven't touched ok maybe not 3-4 days. But if you know where mulie are in the unit and where their numbers aren't very good it narrows it down. And I was referring to drive able roads, not walking it, you gotta drive around a bit to find where your gonna walk from right? I spent 365 days a year there for a long time (if we're comparing days lol)
