    This woman has grit.

This news story is more poetic with more info. It seems every day I read about it the story changes. Hadn't hear about the cat, she's from Phoenix or from Tucson, two different reports? Cibeque? "near by community" near by to what?? The chevron on the res closed years ago! First the help sign was sticks, now it's bleached elk bones! Did she kill an elk and eat it for tomorrow's news, maybe carve a tooth pick from a ponderosa? The comments under the news story are great.

Enough about elk. Let's talk trees!!

I'm far from Phoenix, love mesquites but palo verde can all die as far as I'm concerned. Water isn't an issue (for now anyways) I'd love to have my whole place like a hardwood forest but just starting this year.

I'm about the 4500-5k elevation zone 7-8? In need of a few non invasive shade tree recommendations. Considering Arizona ash, and Ray wood ash. All on the west north/west side. They'll be getting a lot of the afternoon heat. High temps are 103 and low winters are 0 to teens. They'll be planted 50' or more from leach lines but close to waste lines. What do you all got? I could post this on the "2016 elk hit" thread but it seemed to lose steem lol

One very serious horn huntin' gal......

I need more to this story. It feels like I'm being lied to and 90% of the info is missing.

    Tree watering ideas.

I'm on a very slight slope with most trees below me so it works really good (except new planted trees that still need the hose once a week) I also water about 10 mesquite with grey water from the shower, sinks, and washer.

Funny joke, I played along. Old dudes are old dudes. Able to take a joke or just waiting for a time to strike back, the man had old school knowledge. And that's they type of knowledge I like. Science can play it's part but the basis of an old timer is priceless.

haha yes they do! Just not on the land I own. I've thought about puttin some in so the next generation can bypass the wood cutting permit for the wood stove. Unless home heating is nuclear by then??

    Tree watering ideas.

Not sure the lay of the land but have you considered rain water harvesting? I set my fruit trees so they collect rain naturally and soon I'll have a water holding system from my roofs. I water about 100 various trees on my place with a well right now. My bill is 35 or less a month. Actual usage is 5-10 dollars. I tried to attach a UofA extension PDF on watering but couldn't figure it out.

Little help with safety question at a city of phx business

It's a sad deal for the small, really small business owner with OSHA. I work for a small business with 600 people (yes, it's still a small business) I could make a killing if I reported some things to OSHSA but in my line of work the government gives 1000's of forgiveness and no warnings or citations. Hog, I want to be on your side on this, I wasn't there so I won't comment but the way you tell the story, it wasn't a big deal. Again, I wasn't there man. I hope you get what your looking for.

    My boys went "treasure hunting"

Making grown men jealous they haven't found any that big and mad that they're not your neighbor!!!! Nice finds!

    Poachers fined big $$$

I was wondering the same thing. Don't they usually suspend hunting rights for 5 years?Pretty sure that during the commission meeting last month they permanently revoked hunting and fishing licenses for these guys. so why make then take the class? Or was the class revoked too?

    Poachers fined big $$$

"And attend a hunter education class" WTF! I read on this site every year about kids who can't get a class!! Did they let these guys do a field day too? Who paid for it? Better yet, whose kids lost their spots because these guys had their seats!!!??

Again, only property owners should get to hunt! And they should only be able to hunt on their own land or a friends land that owns property. Leave the 1/4 rule! At that point there would be plenty of animals and the scavengers who want meat can stand in line at the wild game tent (sorta like the Obama phone tent or frys at the first of the month) either was.... Shut up.

I might waste them all on archery next year and pick my unit. I'm much better with a rifle though. I just want one decent bull then it late hunts and cow tags from then.

any experience with them? Do they grow like eldarica pines? I know two guys near me have pines, one is doing awesome and the other is struggling. The one I've been able to talk to (eldarica) and the other guy I haven't, not sure if they're the same but kept better? But they are growing great!! A few feet a year. What ever they are.

Its a random lottery with each person not drawn having an extra ticket every year they don't draw. 15 tickets (years) with thousands applying for a few hundred or less tags. It sucks but it's the "fairest" situation I know of. Everyone has a chance. Trust me I know the pain but oh well. We can make the draw socialism!

Considered willows as well. Don't know much about them but know they love to drink water! Hopin to get something that'll be somewhat self sufficient after a few years. Not sure about that particular willow but most need constant water.
