I'm going to say a dirty .22 barrel won't affect it that much, I'd check the scope mounts or scope. Reason I say that is because I have a Mossberg semi auto I bought years ago just to see how many rounds til it jambs. Thousand upon thousands later without cleaning, the $60 gun still shoots under an inch at 50 yards. And its a cheapie.
