Amanda...I just LOVE that pic! It's too funny not to share! I just found out that we can send money straight from a credit card using your yellow "donate" button. I thought I had to have a PayPal account but I didn't. COOL! Guys...You don't have to match my $20 (even though many have stepped up!) ANYTHING will help. We have over 2000 members here...it can add up quick! Thanks to all that have donated thus far. I'm keeping track of those that haven't. -

Good job so far guys! We still have plenty days till Christmas so lets keep this going. I'm happy to see there are many out there that appreciate the efforts Amanda goes through. This site is done for her love of these little deer. She has a full time job and still dedicates much of her free time to this site and volunteers at endless organizations. Nice to see her passion. Let's keep it up! (nope I ain't on the payroll Casey!) -
Congrats on a nice looking bull. Did you meet Jordan at the gate with Wild Mountain taxidermy? He's a stand up guy and does quality work.

Where'd you get your reindeer smiley? For a second I thought it came with the new skin, but I only see regular smileys. Amanda Only ONE Rudolph and he's MINE!!! LOL...Actually, I found it online and saved it to my hard drive then added it to my post as any regular pic. Glad you liked him!

x2 on Duwanes glassing lessons. Maybe you can get your Dad to go with you. Between both of you, you can pick up a lot more tips. He definitely knows his stuff and is one of the most helpful people I have met.

Hope you are having a great one!

Gagger of a buck! Much congrats! Let us know what you find out about your rifle.

That's great advice. Listen and do call when you draw another tag, definitely take Jim up on his offer. Another thing to look at is HOW YOU HUNT. I'm sure he'll explain that too. You are young, with plenty of hunting years ahead for opportunity at success. I commend you on wanting your Dad to reach success also. You came to the right place. I too can help when that time comes.

What makes a successful hunt for ..... YOU?
Chef replied to WinMag's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
A successful hunt includes eating with an oil lantern glimmering through it's lacy veil. With the sweet aroma of fresh cut flowers that someone made me hand cut myself. Yes this really happened, but I won't get into it. I have to protect my manhood. ....for me, just being in the outdoors and seeing quality game makes it a success. -
Orlin, just tell them your neighbors did it!

I haven't had a chance to get out again guys. This was my first week back to work after a 10 day hunt I helped on. A bit hectic getting back to say the least. I will keep you folks posted though! Thanks for the interest.

Several months back I was considering a new rifle for deer sized game. I wanted a 60 degree bolt throw and a reputation for accuracy. Doug turned me on to Cooper Arms and more specifically, the .280 Ackley Improved. Nosler offers brass and ammunition for this caliber so those would be no issue in acquiring. I began online research and concluded that this would be my next rifle. I placed an order for an Excalibur from Hendershot's Sporting Goods Inc., this was seven months ago and now the rifle is here. Topped it off with a Zeiss Conquest and I'm off to Usery Range. I drove all the way out, and walked into a jam packed parking lot. I endured a twenty five minute wait for a bench and the wind starts to pick up. I contemplated leaving as this wasn't my cup of tea but decided to endure the masses. Did I mention the auto loader crowd spraying hot brass all over others?...fun! I sight her in and could only bear to shoot one group before getting the heck out of dodge. Two shot group before adjusting POA to the right. Three shot group to the right. Nosler Custom factory ammo 140 grain AccuBonds 100 yards, no cooling between the five shot string. I'll spend some more ammo soon to have brass then start reloading with 130 grainers. I'll keep you guys posted! "Thanks Doug!"
