It's always a great event and a pleasure to see friends and meet new ones. Hopefully our table can win some great stuff this year. See you all there.

Cabela's has a coues mount with it licking at a cactus on it's face too. By the archery shop. -
1st Annual All-Ladies Turkey hunt!
Chef replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Very nice. The smiles say it all. When I first saw the post I scrolled down to check out all the pics first. I saw the huntress set up then I saw an elk rack... I though HOLY MOLY! She shot a bull!! I commend you on your dedication you have shown to your groups. -
Great pics. Love them steaks on the grill! (NY strip & ribeye?) Your dog lives by my motto Amanda. "Any day above ground is a good day" Pretty cool how good dogs make us live better.

I LOL'd "real men of genius!"

Welcome! I think I met you once yote hunting. (freehanded that coyote and blew his face off at 120yrds) Same trip Casey shot that badger. That's a nice massive shed.

It may be tricky with this years archery hunt being early. (again) The rut didn't start until late in the game last year. Had to do some aggressive bugling to even get them to call. It can get frustrating but rewarding once you are able to figure them out. Once close, cow calls get the attention, even the lead cow will come in. Once the rut starts, they won't need much persuading. They will let you know where they are. Then you want to close the distance if stalking. You will be right among them if all works in your favor. Just don't let your knees turn to jelly when all breaks loose around you like I do!

Leica Douvid 10+15x50... Who has used them?
Chef replied to DesertDweller's topic in Optics and tripods
I enjoy mine and am amazed at how often I glass with the 10x setting. Especially helps when doing a quick scour of a hillside for a buck you saw a mile away while using the 15x setting. I too bought the Swaro lens caps and highly recommend them, as well as the chest pouch RR spoke of. -
Had a fun time and saw some members there. Couple of CW stickers in the parking lot too! Ended up with a holster, a pair of boots ordered, and I even bought some of them "as seen on TV" insoles. Met up with the smith that reworked my levergun too. All in all a great time.

Heading out today! I hope to come home tired and broke.

Casey! Again, GREAT JOB! We are all really happy you pulled through. You are off to a great start in life and things will only get better from here for you. It was a pleasure to meet your family and could tell they were very proud of their son too. Good luck on your first year out.

Sorry to hear about that Casey. I wish more people were as honest and loyal as a good dog. Your parents did the right thing. I fear the day when I lose my little buddy.
-
I've also heard that placing him head first into panty hose will keep the feathers nice and tight. Good Luck.

I absolutely LOVED the video! Great intro, enjoyed the "story" with the night before, getting into elk, hunter perspective views, and I could feel the rush she had before and after the fantastic shot. Not a bad bull to boot! Thanks for sharing. Very professional video.

Dad and I got our mounts back!
Chef replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
They do look good. They capture the beauty of these deer nicely. Everytime I see a live coues, I can't help but admire their features... the eyes and eyelashes pronounce their stare, making them look "immature" and inquisitive. Nice to see you are getting extra income to support your habit Scott. -
Cool (and scary) looking snake!
-
That is pretty cool. I have to say though, Stan did bring this up already.
-
Looks like you have found a great area. I like the double shed pic of the elk and deer.
-
Good luck Stan! Take lots of pics for us and don't forget the guitar!
