I have heard good things about the Vortex Kaibab 15s. They are a good bang for the buck. Glassing is important, but knowing when and where to glass is more so. You want to increase your chances at seeing bucks and knowing the basics is crucial. I suggest reading "How to Hunt Coues Deer" by Duwane Adams. Its sold here on CW.com and will give you a lot of basic information that will come in handy during your hunt. Also search these forums and you can get a lot of good tips. I used to hunt 35A quite a bit and from what I understand, it has changed a lot. If I were to hunt it again, I would go back to basics and do what I do well. That is glass the correct facing ridges at the right times and glass effectively. Good Luck and welcome to the forum.

Great story. I'm glad you took the time to put it in print. I especially loved your description of the sight below you as you saw the cat in the water. My mind was there with you! Congrats!

That's about as close as anyone can get! I don't know about you guys but I just can't sleep at night thinking of a little coues buck carrying so much antler on his head! Mirror the other side and add a spread, holy moley!!

Tony, I'm laughing as I type this because my mouth literally started to water as soon as got halfway through the recipe! That sounds delicious and I love capers! I will try that recipe and thanks!

Tony, you were a topic of conversation that day. Actually, it was the shrimp cocktail we were talking about! Wish you would have made it and I echo Ernesto's well wishes on your Mothers condition.

That's awesome! Wish I had a tag.

Amanda, I feel for you! I can't believe how much $ the state wants to take a test either!

*UPDATE #2* It has been a dream of mine to tag a monster buck from the Kaibab. I had been contemplating hiring Duwane and I just made the call after reading Allens post ten minutes ago! I just booked Duwane Adams for my dream hunt!!! Duwane has been intrumental in me growing as a hunter and I appreciate his enthusiasm in teaching me a ton. With that said, I came to the realization that I need to work the odds in my favor. I KNOW Duwane and his crew are a bunch of killers, this is going to be FUN. I am pumped. Tony, get in on the action! It's building up to be a phenominal camp!

. . . . ...and this is what greeted my eyes when I opened them this morning. -
. . . . THANKS JIM REYNOLDS!

We stayed up talking until early morning.... . . . I found this one to be interesting, forms a "quad"... . . . Another freaking awesome shed... . . . Anyone care to guess at what the SMALLER of these scores? Maybe Jim will chime in and tell us. It puts things into perspective on the BIG shed! There are some MONSTER coues bucks roaming the hills!
-
It's amazing not only the quantity of sheds that Jim owns, but matching sets, and sheds of the same buck from different years...
-
Now for the GOOD STUFF! . . . This GAGGER set was brought by CRB... . . . These are just some pics of Jim's home and all he has laying and hanging around...
-
This is when the weather turned in our favor...we started getting RAIN! . . . Ernesto enjoying the cool shower... . . . The breeze was greeted by the flag, I thought it made a great pic... . . . Jim's front port has a beam running it's entire length. Jim has sheds along ALL OF IT! (not just dinks either!) . . . Resident dove with little ones in her nest living in shed heaven...
