Awesome! His smile is worth a thousand words!

Sweet sunset pic! Nice goat! Love the ones that lean forward like that! Looks like their goats got a little thicker hair right now than our desert goats. Lance

I am told by people that have been there that there are ranches in Mexico that do not have any standing water at all. The Coues deer, mule deer, javalina and the ranch cattle all get there water from the vegetation. (Mostly Cholla). And that there are no predators on these ranches because predators need standing watter. Lance

My Verizon phone gets reception all over that area. Sometimes you have to go 100 yards one way or the other but still good reception throughout the unit. Lance

Way to go bud!!!! Great bull! And congrats on your first elk! Sorry I didn't have time to see you in the field. That was a weird rut for an archery hunt. I just got done with 4 weeks of it and from what I saw people pulling out of your unit, you did just fine for yourself! Congradulations! Lance

meat processing
Lance replied to jeepers creepers's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
I used to do all my own stuff. The burger, the sausage, steaks and roasts. And am dang good at it if I do say so myself. The most important thing I learned from all thoes years and countless hours was that a good processor is sooooo worth it!!!!! No doubt!!!!! Drop it off and be done with it! Get professional cuts, wraps, burger and sausage with no worries and messy fuss. How long does it take you to process something? What is your time worth? Like I said. "A GOOD processor is sooooo worth it"!!!!!! I use Caseys in Flagstaff and have never had a problem nor have any of our clients ever had a problem with them. Drop it off and be done with it! Lance -
I always hear the story of how someone one time had the animall down wind of them, with the wind at there back blowing directly toward the animall, or how ever you want to state it. And the animall didn't smell them cause they had on sentlock or coverup sent or what ever. But I tell you this, I have hade the same situation COUNTLESS times and was not wearing anything to mask my sent with the same outcome. It is not what you are wearing it is because somewhere between you and that animall the wind curents took your sent elsewhere and you lucked out! . You can not fool their nose! You know you cant hide your sent 100% so it does not matter. There are already a million cover up sents in the woods and they can still pick you out with ease! They can tell what you are where you are if you are still there or how long ago you were there. I do belive spreading around some sent for an attractant is good but not to depend on as a coverup. Sentlock, .... Nice thought I guess if you truly belive it makes you a better hunter then it is working to help you get the job done by instilling confidence. So go for it!

I have beat the crap out of a pair of 10 X 40's for years now. They are a quality glass no doubt. Don't know anything about their warranty yet, I'm sure it's not a Swaro type warranty. But the fact that I have had them for as long as I have and put them through more than most can imagine and still haven't had to rely on a warranty should say something. Lance

This is Don's antelope buck. He two was a little smaller than previous years, but has great curll mass and prongs! We tried to kill this buck on the two previous years hunts. These were the two best bucks we knew of and the hunts were awesome!

This is my dads Antelope buck that earned the namd "Dinky" the year before. He was a little shorter than he was the year before but was still high wide and heavy! Note where the jail bait land owners cut his neck after looking up on the internet how to gut an animal. They are soooo busted!!!!!!

Finally some pictures! This is my dads bull!

Good luck and hope to see you in the field! Lance

A land owner confiscated one of our goats! And called the sheriff saying we were trespasing! What ever! Like we don't know where we are hunting. By gosh, we grew up in that country! My dad and brother were both cowboys in that country and have ridden a horse, driven a truck or walked over every square inch of that area! And I taged right along behind them! We caled the G&F and got ahold of the WM. He said he would promply go and get our goat for us! And that the land owner was WAY beond his bounds and had done many illegal things with that land and that the Lawyers from the State Land Department would be paying him a visit! Story and pictures comming latter after my wife gives me back the camera. She is deer hunting with "Tines" (her cousin) and she thinks she needs a camera Hopefully she will! Lance

Well, we had two tags and got two goats! First Day- Got to camp about midnight Thursday and hunted opening day. We got after the BIG one several times and then decided to give him a break. We were going to put the move on another great goat when he bedded his does down and then left to go fight with another goat accross the valley! We then ran and put ourselves in between him and his does and waited with the decoys! Long story short, he saw my arrow comming and decided he didn't want to play catch! It's all on video. That night we headed back to Flag the n Saturday morning we went to a G&F Hunter Ed Instructor Workshop. Spent Saturday there making a long bow and then spent Sunday at church and home with the family! Then back to the hunt on Monday. I'll post that latter! This is the buck that dodged my arrow These are pictures of him chasing the same buck a few days earler. And his tongue hanging out afterwords. Lance

I was getting overloaded with Mule deer, elk and Antelope So I went out and checked one of my Coues cams I put out 18 days agao. It had 258 pictures on it and they were all of deer! I am home this morning getting the kids ready for school while my wife is out hunting the big 5X6 muley by herself. She just called and said she glassed him and his palls up and put a stalk on them for a 45 yard shot! She was breaking up real bad do to bad cell signal but I got out of it that she missed I don't know why yet but I'm sure there is a good story! I thought while I was home I would share some of the pictures off of the Coues Cam. There were at least 7 Coues bucks and one big 3pt muley. AND most of the pictures were during archery deer season! Gess I better get out there! Lance

Holy Toad of a BUCK! Way to go! Did the deed when the deed neaded to be done! Would have sucked to miss that one! Good job and congrats! -
She is home now. I guess it was a 40 yard shot and she just choked and pulled it to the left. She stalked in and they were feeding around her in thick trees, the closest at 25 yards! After the shot they didn't go far so she stalked them again where she almost got a 45 yard shot. She said she had one lane and the buck fed up to it slowly and then walked accross it quickly and then they fed out of sight unspooked We got on them yesterday also but one of them spoted me at 60 yards and she had no shot Guess my wife is sneakier when I'm not there Lance
