Sweet! Very pritty buck, for a crazy bunch of guys! Lance

Same goes with people as it does with animals. I am taller and fatter than my dad, but that doesn't make me older. They are just as different as we are but most people just don't think of them that way.

Awesome AWESOME BUCK! Congrats! Lance

Thats a great story! He Got to hunt the whole time he had with lots of action and still kill a bull in the end! Good Job guys Thanks for the score guessing confidence! I think that bull is a 330 class bull. He has nice bottoms or else he would be 310-320. He is very pritty and that can be deciving making one think he is bigger. But stand him next to a 360 bull and you would see a big difference! Lance

I hate how veague they write the G&F rules! They can enturpit them how they like and apply them to who they like. Ever use watter as an attractant for your hunt? Animals take in watter so No more setting watter either! The snowball is roling and they just keep taking and taking and they have to be stoped some where! Why don't they stop taking and start giving. Do hunters need to give more? Is this caused by both sides and not just one? " Don't put hunters against hunters" ? Why does it have to be anybody against anybody? Why does it seam that it is always hunters against the Game and Fish? Is this what the G&F wants? The way the snowball is roling is not going to work out for anyone. I have been to many G&F public meetings and it has never seemed like they were realy listening but just preforming public lip service by hugging orphans and kissing babies. I know that is not a nice thing to say but that is what they have all been like. Why is that G&F? Why do they even hold those meetings? Lance

Right ON ! Jake kept my son weston and I in on the blow by blow of the whole morning and I was still shaking with nervesness excited for my boy and Jake! Jake is quick on the ole telephone and text messages I tell you what! Thanks again Jake! We did get to hunt the next day and Weston missed a forkhorn right accross the front of his chest and they never gave us another shot. He is ten and was shooting Jakes 25-06 as well at about 360+ yards. It was the only shot we were gona get cause the deer were trying to sneak out of the country. So Weston didn't tag a deer his first time out but he is alive and well and had a great time! And is very excited about his brothers buck! Weston did tag an elk earlier this year so it's not like he hasn't goten blood on his hands. Ty is 12 years old and has taken 3 elk, 1 archery Javelina and this is his 2nd Coues Buck! Way to go squirt! Lance ie- proud father!

Well, My wife Carrie and I had a chance to spend a long weekend together on our Nov Coues hunt without the kids. It was a great and we started opening day with two of my wifes cousins Jake (Tines) and David. We started off the day with Carrie as sick as a dog and couldn't keep anything down! She was a trooper though and hiked to the tops of the mountains anyway! We found and passed on several smaller bucks and finally found some good bucks in two different spots. We put the sneak on one but he slipped away before Carrie could get set up on him. We moved on the others and Carrie missed some far shots cause she was just too sick and tired to hike any more canyons to get closer. So I ended up shooting one of the bucks . It was a nice 2X3 and a good enough buck to hold out for, for the amount of time we had to hunt. That pack out was by far the longest Coues pack out I have ever had over some rough country and I'm glad Jake was there to help out. Carrie and David headed back to the truck and Jake and I headed over several canyons to get my buck. We finished him up and started packing out right at dark. I think it took us a little over two grueling hours before we got to the truck. And that was totally deboned! That first day we saw 10 bucks and took one of the two bigger ones. I new I wouldn't win anything in the big buck contest this year so we were trying for the best picture contest! The canyon was getting dark fast so the colors were at a minimal but how do you think we did? (Actually, I think my wifes pictures may have turned out better) The next day we hunted by ourselves and did mostly road hunting and glassing from the road to let Carrie who was still sick, try to recover from the rough miles she did the day before. We saw lots of deer but no bucks that day. The next day was Sunday and we headed home with Carrie's unfilled tag. We got a half hour down the freeway and Carrie's tag was burning a hole in her pocket so bad that she stopped to think it over! She was feeling better but now had Coues fever and just didn't want to go home without filling her tag! Haha it was great! Coues Fever is Strong! So we called my family who was watching our kids and they said that was fine and to go whack a deer! We turned arround and went back!!!! You got to love it! Monday was spent back in the mountains together but Carrie felt better and could hike now, and we saw several bucks and got her into range of a nice two point just before dark. She took a shot but do to MY miscalculation her 243 round passed just under his chest at 400 yards. They didn't stick around so I could recalculate for her. The next day we were just gona hunt a couple of hours in the AM and head home, again. We went to a new area that looked good on the map and sure enough we glassed up some bucks. One spike on a far hill and a heavy but short three pt with some does on a closer peak that Carrie glassed up. We crossed a saddle in a canyon and up the next mountain and set up 320 yards from the deer. We couldn't find the three point and figured he made it over the hill. we then spotted a little forkhorn with the does and Carrie settled in for the shot. By the time we got a clear shot he was 400 yards but this time when her 243 cracked she put him down for a last minute buck, in overtime! took this pic with my phone of her shooting position while waiting for a shot! This is what we could see up to where she was shooting. And Carrie's Buck up on top of the world! All in all it was a great extended date! Watch out for that Coues Feaver! It'll get ya every time! I have seen LOTS of ELK die from a 100gr 243. and many deer as well, with plenty of punch from 300 to 500 yards. With awesome bullet holes and damage comparable to larger bore rifles. Sight in at 200 Yards andd get after it!

Good for him! Whack that buck! Congrats to the whole crew! Lance

Haven't been on here in a while. Been out having some fun with the local elk herds! I think I kind of missed CWT a little bit.... I brought back some pictures I thought you might enjoy looking at. And then this weekend my two boys filled both there antlerless tags on a limited opp hunt! A first big game animall for my 10 year old Weston! We called her in and He dotted her twice at 240 yards destroying the heart with the 260! He has always been a crack shot the little squirt Then we called in a great 6pt bull and the bull calf of the cow we just shot and my 12 year old Ty shot the calf! This is his third elk and he actually set out to shoot a calf this time cause he knew his little brother would fill the freezer and he wanted some tinder steaks! So sure enough he sees the calf comming and is totally stoaked and lays it out at 81 yards with the 243! Wham Bam two elk on the ground at the same time and the work begain! I'm glad my dad was there to help out! Lance
