  1. I had a little extra time on Thursday, so my Dad and I ran down to our 36B just to get a look and feel for the unit. We didn't have much time, so we decided we'd mostly just plan on acquainting ourselves with the roads and the lay of the land. Honestly, I was surprised at just how beautiful the country is down there! Wow, it has to be on the list of some of the prettiest country in AZ. And, we ran down to Arivaca Lake, and the fish were literally jumping out of the water and some type of insect hatch. Nice size fish, too! I would have given my eye teeth for my ugly stick or my fly rod. While we were out and glassing, we spotted a few bucks. Which led me to wonder if all the rain and water has allowed the deer to roam a bit more then normal, or do they tend to stay within a certain defined area. I think read on the site that they tend to stay within 1.5 mile of good water, but with so much water flowing I wondered if they moved a bit more? Thanks, Greg

Thanks for all the help! I haven't been on line lately, I've had a remodeling project go horribly astray! I appreciate the advice, and now I can concentrate on deciding what areas I should scout first. Greg

    Unit 36B

Good Evening! We were lucky enough to get drawn for 36B. I was wondering, if in anyone knew wether we should be concerned about, and I am trying to be delicate here, the potential problems with illegal immigrants, or for that matter, the MinuteMen, or whomever else may be down in that area. I was reading a copy of "Backpacker" magazine, and it describes large areas along the border being trashed with diapers, water jugs, discarded clothes, etc. And, of course the land owners on the eastern side of the state have had problems with vehicle thefts, etc. So for those of you who frequent this area, any nasty experiences? Any reason to be more on guard then any other hunt? About 10 years or so ago we hunted 35a and B I believe, and were right along the border. It was a great hunt, so maybe I'm paranoid. I appreciate any input. Greg
