^^^^^ I'm happy with the way it turned out. Sorry it's not up to your standards.

Bill at R&R is very up front in telling you how long your mount will take. In my case (badger and coues buck) they were dropped off before he started missing time due to a health issue that nearly killed him. An abdominal aortic aneurysm. Someone else on here stated back problems...I don't know anything about those, But the triple A is what set him back. I had a javelina shoulder mount done in 16 months. You guys can chime in on wether or not that's to long, I really don't care. I've also dropped off 2 elk heads to be boiled, bleached and sealed an got those back in about 10 days. I've been in the shop talking to him when guys have stopped by to drop off animals and have heard him tell them that he's behind 24-36 months. He's very up front. Some guys chose to drop off their animals anyways and some have said thanks, but no thanks. Just my 2 cents. All that being said I'm not going to use R&R again until they do get caught up. But when and if they ever do get back to the 12-18 month turn around time that they were at I will for sure be a customer again.

My wife and I have been diagnosed with what doctors call unexplained infertility. We have done two rounds of IVF with no success. We have sunk in excess of $25,000 into this process with nothing to show for it but the heartbreak of two early miscarriages. This has led us down the road of adoption. I thought I would reach out to anyone here that maybe has any experience with this or has any relatives or friends that work with adoption agencies. We are just starting this journey and it can be very confusing until you know which agencies are good and which agencies you shouldn't work with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Cody

I've had a Javelina and coues deer mounted by bill there. And the badger in the picture. R&R is great if you don't mind waiting 2 to 3 years to get your mount back. They do good work and I don't think you can beat their prices. When I had my Javelina done three or four years ago the turnaround time was about 18 months. I dropped my coues deer off in December 2012 and didn't pick it up for 30 months. I dropped off the badger that's in the picture in August 2012 and it still isn't ready so that has been there for 33 months. It's hard to complain though because over the years I've gotten to know Bill and his brother and if it wasn't for some very serious health problems with both of them The turnaround time would be much faster. Like I said when there were no health problems my Javelina was done in 18 months. To me that's an acceptable turnaround time especially for their prices. The turnaround time has gotten to be so long that I don't think I will drop any more animals off there until he has had a chance to get caught up. In his defense when they were out with their health concerns they stopped taking heads so that way they can try and turn over the work they had without getting further behind but with just one guy it's hard to catch up. I asked him when I picked up my deer a couple months ago if he was getting caught up and he said he didn't know if he would ever be completely caught back up.

I've shot 4 bulls with Rocket Steelhead 100 grain and my last elk with a 125 grain Swhacker. All have died within 50 yards. I got better penetration with the rockets, but all did an incredible job. A lot of guys on here will tell you fixed heads are a must, but shoot whatever you're most comfortable with and what shoots best for you.

You're right 398" is a HUGE bull. I never said it wasn't. I guess I just expected to see more than 4 bulls that I judged over 350". My expectations were high after I found out we drew the tag and were overinflated even more after talking to other hunters and outfitters that "hyped" up the hunt.
-
my dad and I drew spring turkey tags this year in the unit we always archery elk hunt. Every year we've had elk tags there in September we've seen turkeys. The unit is 5B south. I've never been up there in the spring time. Will the turkeys still be in the area they are when we elk hunt there in September? Not sure how much turkeys migrate during the winter if at all?
-
Sure do. 398" was the biggest bull killed in that unit that particular year. For a unit that everyone boasts about how many HUGE Bulls there are 398" being the biggest that unit produced isn't to impressive. I never laid eyes on the 400" bull I was looking for, only saw still camera pics and pics from a power parachute the week before the hunt. I was so hyped by other hunters that had supposedly hunted that unit in recent years and by outfitters that contacted us after the draw that I expected to see much better quality than what I did. Did I see every bull unit 10 had to offer that year, of course not. Did I expect to see more than 4 bulls over 350", sure did. Like I said it was a dry hot year and I'm sure that was a big contributing factor. Would I take a tag in that unit and give it another go, in a heartbeat. But to me, I feel the hunt was a bit overhyped. I was ok eating the tag. I could have shot....or at least shot at (haha) 2 bulls over 350" and chose not to, looking for something once in a lifetime.

In 1998 me, my dad and my uncle had 3 of the 10 tags on the early rifle bull hunt. My dad shot a 356" 6x6 and my uncle shot a 398" 6x6. I was the only one of the 10 tag holders to not fill my tag that hunt. I passed a few 350" bulls hunting a specific 400" plus bull. I didn't see nearly as many big Bulls as I thought I would. In my opinion the unit was a little overhyped. We did have well above average temps that hunt though. Very little rutting activity. We talked to one guy that shot a spike on the 2nd day. He said he put in for the hunt because it was close to home.

What unit or what elevation are you in azhuntnut?

Great quad! I've had one since 2000 and it has been incredibly reliable. I've gone everywhere I needed to on this quad and never once needed a 4x4. Good luck with the sale.

Go with an Obsession Phoenix or Evolution and you won't be sorry

Wow that's not really what I was expecting to hear! I didn't think it would take 12+ years for an above average deer hunt. Disappointing to hear about the antelope quality as well.

Ok guys that have hunted Colorado before....question. This is the first year a buddy and myself have bought a pp in the expectations of buying them for a few years to build up enough for a decent mule deer hunt. My question to you guys that have hunted there is this. How long of a wait are we looking at? We would like a chance at 170"+bucks. I know that if its anything like AZ there are 170"+ bucks in every unit, but I'm talking about a rifle hunt where it's common to see 170"+ deer. Is that a 5 year wait, 10 year wait, how long of a ride are we in for? To be clear I'm not asking for anyone's secret spots just a general answer because we're new at applying in Colorado. I think Colorado has it figured out to where you can tell exactly how many points you need for a guaranteed tag, but I'm not sure where to find that info. I may be wrong. On a side note....I just drew my 22nd bonus point for antelope here in AZ so I'm buying an antelope point in Colorado. How many points for a decent hunt there? By decent I mean a shot at a mid 70s buck? On another side not I had to laugh a little when I was watching the tutorial on how to apply for hints in Colorado and the first thing it says is don't wait until the last minute to apply......I applied 4 hours before it closed and was kicked off and had to restart the application process 3 times due to "an unusual amount of activity." Thanks in advance for any input and reading this long winded post!

Can you purchase just a pp or do you have to buy a license also? I guess my question is what's the total cost to put in if you just want a pp?

I'm selling my 2012 Dodge Ram quad cab 4x4. I bought this truck in July of 2013. I'm the 2nd owner. Both owners non smoking. The truck has a front end leveling kit and aftermarket wheels (black rhino 20") and Federal Couragia (sp) 35*12.50*20 tires. All maintenance done on time since I've owned it. I only drive 12 miles a day round trip for work. And this trucks only been on a few hunts. Fingers crossed this truck or the next will go on an antelope hunt this fall (21) bonus points! I like this truck but the wife and I are trying to become debt free so that we can adopt our 1st child and this is the last thing between us and our goal. I can text pics upon request. I'll try and get pics up later. Here are some specs for now. Asking $24,500 obo. Call or text (text preferred) Cody @ 602-999-7684. Engine: 4.7 v8 Mileage: 36,000miles Transmission: 6-Speed Automatic Exterior Color: Silver Interior Color: Grey 2 tone Gas Mileage: 14 MPG City 19 MPG Highway Engine: V8 Flex Fuel Vehicle -
I just ordered a new bow so my old rig is up for sale. It is a 2008 BowTech Patriot 2 made exclusively for Sportsmens warehouse. This bow has 60 to 70 pound limbs on it and is currently set at a 29 inch draw length. The bow will come with a truglo five pin site with a 6th pin that I've added. The site isn't in great shape so I am throwing it in for free. It will also come with a limb saver stabilizer and a pronghorn drop away rest made by trophy Ridge. It will also come with a D loop and Peep on the string. Will also come with an aftermarket string stop. The strings and cables were replaced three months ago in August before archery deer season. This is a good shooting fast bow for being 6 years old. I'm getting 297 fps out of it. Package price is $325 obo bare bow price is $250 obo. I can text pics. For pics text me @ 602-999-7684 Thanks Cody
