The reason we are taking the ranger is to have enough vehicles for us to get to different spots on the ranch so we aren’t dropping guys off and picking them up. There are 5 of us going down so we would like to be able to split up and hunt. We already have the Mexican Insurance figured out, but didn’t know if the company vehicle would confuse things.
-
Another question.....the truck we are taking down is in my buddy’s company’s name, the ranger and trailer are in his name. His last name is in the company name ie..”Johnson Plumbing” his name is Tim Johnson. Will this be an issue?

Great info, thanks!

Is the “Only Sonora” permit something you can buy at the border or do you buy online before the trip?

No outfitter....5 guys going to a ranch. Somewhat DIY. There will be cooks, a cowboy or 2 and the rancher. That’s why I’m asking what i should know.
-
So it says it only needs about 6 (give or take) pieces of info to give you an MOA output. I’m talking MOA only here, not BDC. One of the items of info is ZERO RANGE. I’m new to all this long range stuff, but shouldn’t it also ask for the atmospheric conditions at your zero range (it does ask for those if you set it up for BDC)?Wouldn’t, say 200 yards here in Phoenix be a different POI than 200 yards at 8,900 ft elevation? But at both elevations wouldn’t the rangefinder say no MOA corrections needed @ 200 yards?
-
What are the pros of going to a 100 yard zero as opposed to a 200?
-
I’m not exactly sure where the ranch is yet. I know we are meeting the rancher in Hermosillo and following him to the ranch. When i find out I’ll let you know, thanks.

What are you guys wearing for, say, Jan archery coues hunt type weather? Lows in the 30’s highs in the 60’s. Something that will hold up to the brush and cat claw type stuff. These expensive puffy jackets scare the heck out of me when i think about walking through an ocotillo patch in one.

I have all the info input to the rangefinder. Should be spot on info, it’s all from lance on here, he did the load work for me. Going to verify zero and drops this weekend. Just curious about the whole baseline deal. I’ve used the shooter app and it asks for baseline info. And if you use the G7 in BDC mode it asks for baseline data. Just curious. I don’t care if it works haha.

I get that, but how does it know what adjustment to make if you don’t enter a baseline?

Found out it’s a controlled burn.

Looks like somewhere around the 1st crossing, north of Beaver Valley. Anyone have any info? Hoping it’s a controlled burn.

Does anyone know if you can buy a center post extension? I have a tripod i like, but it’s about 6” too short for me to stand and glass with (I’m 6’3”). I haven’t been able to find out if such a thing exists. If not, what tripods do you taller guys use to stand and glass. Granted I’m sitting and glassing 90% of the time, but sometimes it’s nice to stand.

I recieved mine in 72 hours, it comes from California. Looking forward to using it on a friends wife’s hunt in a couple of weeks.
-
Times change i guess, the thread was from 3 years ago. Don’t tell me you’re a vanilla frosty guy too....haha
-
Here is what i received from SLIK....the extension is 10 7/8”. Only bummer i see is the center post sticking down below the feet when all folded up. My pix always come out sideways from my phone...👎🏼🤨

Seems fair to me. Seems like you are trying to get a free hunt for just the annual fee. I get it, ZERO may be misleading....I’m a member for deer and I’m applying for an archery strip tag. I started with 4 points. When i draw, ill pay them $1,500 plus the $175 a year until i draw. Even if it takes me 10 years to draw I’ll only be out $3,250. That’s probably $2,000 cheaper than i could buy that hunt for now. Not counting for inflation in 10 years. My 2nd choice is late 12AW. Also started with 4 points. If i draw that tag at any time my hunt is fully paid for. There are quite a few options that are in fact ZERO fee. Seems like a very fair concept to me.

The one i ordered from Slik is supposed to be just under 11” according to the guy i ordered from. He measured it while i was on the phone with him. It’s supposed to arrive this weekend.

I just bought a buffalo BP on my phone in a couple mins. Different, but worse? I didn’t think so.

See the post above yours.

Thanks for the suggestion. They have INCREDIBLE customer service. I emailed them and they emailed me back with a parts diagram and an answer in less than 20 minutes! $22 shipped! I found another member on here that is in the same price range and will custom make one any length i want and i would rather give a member my $$. But man that’s some great customer service!
