Wow Tommy, Thanks I really appreciate it. Could of gone to any one of the great guys I work with. Thanks again, Jeff -
Hey Scott thanks for your reply.....I think they already are addicted! Like he said, they have been trying for a while to catch a Coues tag down here and drove a LONG way to get here for their 3 day hunt. I didn't do much but show em what to look for. They are very quick learners and he failed to mention that his dad spotted this particular buck that morning....not me We really were blessed that day that things worked out like they did! That split eye gaurd is very unique. jeff

I am not from AZ so I don't know exactly what law or place the gentleman is refering to, however I have to agree with the last few posts. There is no excuse to not be compliant with a law, no matter your opinion of it, one full year since it was enacted. Sounds to me like you have only yourself to blame for ruining your hunt. I also think that this web-site is a great information sharing tool and a great way to get to know people. Sure we all have complaints/concerns/questions every now and then but I think it is crazy that this post was only your first or second one. Did you really register an account here to only complain and bash the G&F?? I would recomend coming back when you have something positive to share with the rest of us. Jeff

The one good thing about is Oryx is that sure you put your money up front but if you don't get drawn then you get it back minus the application fee.......so you could still look at going to PA or camping out for a res tag later this year.......But if you did get drawn it is a fun hunt!! jeff

Looks Great! jeff

Hate to be "that guy" but.....

Well if you are looking for a 2 bird limit that pretty much elimantes any of the SW units. Sounds like you are going to have to go over towards Cloudcroft area. There are good numbers of birds over there, but get ALOT of pressure. Other than that you could head to the northern part of the state. Sorry I couldnt help more, just don't know much about any other part of the state. jeff -

My Late Season Unit 24 Bowhunt!
huntswnm replied to jamaro's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
I think that Jamaro was only able to hunt 1 day so far and then his mom became ill. Hope he doesn't mind me passing this info on. I know that he has been asking for prayers for her, and that she is improving, and not sure if/when he will make it out again before the 15th. jeff -
J- That is a great response. This whole story has been crazy and everyone and their mother has an opinion about how it should be handled. I think you hit the nail on the head. I am sure your picture has kinda put you in the middle of it all.

He is right man.....NM has no preference point system so no matter when you start applying you have as much of a chance to draw the tag next year as you do in ten years.......BUT you can't draw if you never put in..... Jeff

Good Luck Tommy, Looks like it will be a great time. jeff

Awesome! Great job. Looks like you guys had a great time. jeff

I think Jamaro has a secret admirer LMAO!!

Jason, Thanks for the heads up man. You are always on top of press releases from the G&F and do a great job of spreading the word. Even though the top of the headline is wrong, all other dates match up so could be a typo on G&F's end. Since Cursten passed her Hunter's Ed I am thinking about getting her one of the youth incintive hunts. The December hunt matches up well with my days off......but man that could be a tough, tough hunt. jeff

My First Giant Coues Buck!!!
huntswnm replied to ScottAdams's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Good Job Scott!! Great story and photos as well!! jeff -
Well guess you could say that it was going to happen sooner or later, I had my trail cam taken in NM 24. I am a little uncomfortable using the word stolen at this point in time, let me explain. I have never locked up my cams, no identifiers engraved, etc, etc so I know that it was easy pickings. I usually put my cams in out of the way pockets, trails, etc but this one was up close to a tank, on a trail leading to it, about 6 feet up in a oak shrub. There was a fire burn through this area a couple weeks ago so I know a lot of firefighters were spending a lot of time back in this area. I am hoping that maybe one of the guys took it to protect it, the fire did burn right through were my cam was. Who knows, maybe thats wishful thinking. Makes me wonder if my name was in it if they would of tried getting a hold of me. Either way its gone, gonna put a few feelers out with some of the F.S. guys I know see if they heard anything. Oh well, live and learn I suppose. Jeff

TAM, Your Pro Hunter Stock will accept the pistol barrels, as long as they are the Encore barrels. The Contender barrels will not fit on your Encore stock. I too have the Pro Hunter and shot a 15" .243 pistol barrel for a while. Would of been a neat little Coyote gun but I just didn't like the feel of the short barrel. As far as I know all components are interchangable. I am pretty sure you can even take off your stock on the frame and put on a pistol grip. One thing is that the forearms are different for shotgun/pistol/muzzleloader barrels so if you buy a pistol barrel you will need a pistol foreend. One thing you might watch out for is that since you bought the gun as a muzzleloader if you happen to change the whole thing around to look like a pistol and law enforcement ever runs the background on it that might bring up some questions. Maybe someone else can shed a little light on that issue better. Hope that helps.....have any more questions I will help out if I can. Jeff
