Hunted up high for two days. Tryed lots of callin and got my boy's some gun time. Seen some good sign in our second area (4b), but needed more time to entice the bruins in! Low and behold our neighbor had a big boar walk up on him and his dog while standing in their backyard! Now thats dumb luck, and one heck of a backyard that borders the National Forest.

Funny! One year we hiked to the end of the trail( half mile) even if it meant walking in the dark and being in place at first light. Needless to say we had been passing by a 117 buck every mornin for three days. We talked to the hunter who shot him on the second weekend. It happened to be the buck we were looking for since his eye guards were six inches in length and almost connected at the tips. I'll probably think twice about passing up close terrain without atleast one sweep with the binos.

Taken nine coues bucks, one archery and the rest rifle. Nothing over 100 yet! Only thing better laying on your belly, staring through the scope at a coues buck is the boom! that follows. Currently looking for a monster in the high country where they dont have coues only hunts. Just need that tag.

UltraMag, I too! took my first coues in unit 23. It was twenty years ago during the any antlered hunt. Missed a muley first off, then connected with this coues. I became more of a man on that day! The cool thing was, I experienced the hunt with three oldtimers who put more metal tags on deer in that unit than I can count. A few years back, I drew four Dec. tags in a row for that same unit. Took four bucks, 80 +. Still lookin for the monster! Keepin the fingers crossed for that tag this year!

Wonder if anyone knows what these rounds are doing to provoke a recall, other than the obvious? Just when I was going to get some for my 7 Mag too! Thanks for the info, D Bull!
