That is an Awesome Buck!!! Congrats!!! Sitting in a blind, or a stand does not, in any way mean you'll get a shot!!! Not only do you sit there, keeping an eye out for your deer, but you alson sit there and worry about whether your wasting your time or not... It take decipline for sure... This dry weather helps though...

    New Years Eve Buck

    Congrats on your great buck...
  7. Ok....I'll chill. I'm sick of being labeled a redneck yahoo for being a hunter and then a bunny hugger from those that promote that image. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Those that promote the image of hunters being "redneck yahoos" are bunny huggers...

    Livestock Grazing

Yeah, the forest service stays right on top of things... right... We've all seen overgrazed forest service land... You see how they have handled the massive undergrowth that have made giant tinder boxes of our forests... I know they have been in the grips of legal battles with treehuggers all along keeping the them from clearing out the growth... This is no different it will have to get bad enough for there to be public outcry... Which I don't think we're there yet... But, anyone who thinks that all ranchers grazing cattle on public land are honest and their all abiding by their permits, and that anyone who isn't is immediatley caught and punished, is living in a fantasy land... The fact is there is a minority, (like in every field), that are giving the rest a bad name... I would hate to see ranchers not be able to use public land, Ranchers keep fs roads relativley maintained as well as tanks and other water sources... As well as the feed they sometimes put down is available to wildlife as well as cattle... The answer is, as in most topics, it depends...

    Livestock Grazing

A case can be made on both sides of this issue... Surely everyone can agree that there are ranchers that overgraze, just like there are responsible ranchers... Unfortunately irresponsible ranchers are not held accountable like they should be... The forest service does not do a very good job policeing them like they should... They are the ones responsible for our national forests... You always get the old, "We don't have the rescources to check for overgrazing violations." from the forest service, well what exactly are you supposed to be doing other than managing the forests? Abuses need to be reported and followed up on if you expect anything to change... Water tanks are great and definately benefit wildlife, but overgrazing and over fencing does not... Oh, and bowsniper, your comment on how you have killed a bigger buck than most guys have glassed up was in poor taste man... I guess being such a bad a** bowhunter makes you an authority on this issue...

    NEGATIVE REMARKS

Well now offering a score is a little different... After all you can only see so much based on the pic...
  14. JohnFriddle

    NEGATIVE REMARKS

I don't think there is anything wrong with questioning scores based on photos... It's impossible to judge based on pics alone... If your going to post it, than folks have the right to comment... The difference with Mace's buck was that he didn't post it, someone else did, And the poster didn't know the guy who killed the buck, And the score was based on rumor... I don't think there was any malace in the posters actions, or anyone that was questioning the score...I don't think it's downplaying anyone's trophy at all to question a score, it's just conversation, and isn't that what we're here for? I do agree that bashing is wrong... But, there are some people on these sites that have an extremely thin skin, and any time you disagree with them your bashing them... On the megahunter6969 on AZOD, I was the only one that said anything about his buddy's bull, and what I said was "I don't know about 360"... In his reply he explained that they hadn't deducted for a broken tine, and that SCI was well at 360... That was all I said, or anyone else, (to my knowledge), about the score... Not that it matters here... megeahunter if I offened you I am sorry, and I did not mean any offense, I did not mean to "bash" you... You do have to admit it wasn't that great of a pic... There is healthy debate on this site, thats what makes it so great... Lets keep it that way...
  15. Here is my bull, got him on the 4th day... He's not spectacular but I'm thrilled with him... Gross 297 3/4, net 282 1/2... Got some busted tines, but he's a great late Bull... I couldn't be happier!!! http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/Joh...ing/elk2005.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/Joh...g/elkskull1.jpg http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d187/Joh...g/elkskull2.jpg

    changes?

I think scoring is a good way to descibe your buck... I never cared about scores before this year but now I find I love it... Everyone has their own motivation, as long as its healthy... Who cares... We're all fellow hunters... I'm jealous of younghunter's equipment too, but, good for him...

Seen the fee proposals for 2006?

First of all "Proposed fee increases" suggests that a they have'nt made up their minds yet... That they will actually take public input under consideration... I think "Proposed fee increases" is just a nice way of saying "get used to it"... The class A deal is a little extreme... How about $20 more than the class b... It's already hard enough to get drawn for premium hunts anyway... I understand fee increases are neccessary and I don't mind them for the most part... I don't see them really effecting draw odds however, except for those who can't afford the increases, but who can afford much of anything with the price of gas the way it is, which will begin to effect everything else before you know it... I'll still be putting in, as will several thousand others with the dreaded online process coming back to the party... You won't have to pay unless your drawn, minus the app. fee... Thats where game and fish will make a killing, Upped fees will not effect draw odds until you have to actually pay them... I still think Arizona Game and Fish does a great job... Even when I don't get drawn... I don't think they'll ever get a fair shake, if their not getting sued for trying to offer their resident hunters a better deal, their getting reemed by their resident hunters for trying to recover some lost revenue...

    changing fleching

I've used carb clean to remove the last of the glue... then I rough up the arrow with a little steel wool and glue on the new fletchings... I have never had a problem.. I've used this method on both aluminum and carbon...
  21. I bought one myself and put it in the field yesterday... Can't wait for the first pics... I went ahead and got the 256mb card for mine... I don't think it will take all six hundred pics on the batt, but hey I always carry more ammo than I'll shoot too... For $100, you can't beat it...

    waterhole vs spot stalk

You have got to have a more than one strategy... Waterholes work good as long as its relatively dry... If it has been raining, your favarite waterhole may not have any action for days... I usually have two or three set ups in a given area but I always seem to go back to spot and stalk... I'm thinking real hard about getting into the trail camera deal, It seems like it would be pretty cool...

    CHECK THIS OUT!!!!!!!!!

I use the laundry detegent without UV brightners... It seems to work pretty well. As far as scent elimination, I think that is a exercise in futility... Don't get me wrong every little thing helps... Youll find a whole bunch of scent killer in my bag of tricks, as well as cover scents... Those suits are HOT!!! All that extra sweat stinks I'm sure... You may eliminate some but you create more... I think I'll just work the wind best I can...
  24. JohnFriddle

so what did everyone draw ?

Nov 6a rifle Bull.... No Deer No Lope
  25. JohnFriddle

Can somebody explain to me .......

I think the bonus point "draw" is done on a hunt by hunt basis... For example, say there are 100 permits for a given hunt, so that means 20 of those permits go to the applicants with the most bonus points... This is done for the first choice only, So say there are 5 applicants with 15 bonus points, then 3 with 14 bonus points, then 12 with 13. See where I'm going with this? Then once all the hunts have had the 20% bonus point quota filled then its a lottery... I don't think bonus points come into play again... I could be incorrect though...
