Seen the fee proposals for 2006?
DCMHunter replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Last year it cost me $570.00 to put myself, wife, son and daughter in for deer, elk and javelina, and myself and son in for antelope. To do the same with the perposed increases it will cost me $940.00! Plus $200.00 if we wished to put in for one of the class A deer hunts and $400.00 to put in for the Class A elk hunts. That is a $370.00 to $970.00 increase for me. That is over $1.00 a day in my book. I do like the class K license (which is not included in the above costs). For a family who hunts together this really hurts. And I am getting bitten hard for my 13 bonus points for elk. I have not even started on the NR costs which puts my brother-in-law out (who is a native Arizonan and use to injoy coming home to hunt and visit family) I am not a rich &@%#%&$&@ and these increases will hurt me and my family in doing something we love to do. As I said earlier I do beleave that an increase is needed but this steep of an increase realy hurts DCM -
Seen the fee proposals for 2006?

There have been lots of good discussion on this topic. I agree with some and disagree with some. After reviewing the perposed rates all I can say is that I will not be able to afford to put in for all the hunts that my family has in the past. The rate increase runs from about 20% to over 450% of the current cost. Deer would be increased about 75% for the class B tag and over 370% for the class A tag. With this amount of increase I can not in the forseeable future see my self applying for any of the Kiabab or "prime Whitetail" hunts. My 13 bonus points for elk will have to be used for a general hunt, unless I elect not to but my kids in for any hunts. These increases are about to make it where I will be better off hunting out of the state. I love hunting and am a serious hunter. I too have been out hunting while injured and/or sick but can not afford the increases that are being perposed. As you can see I am against the class A tag. I am against the outragiuos increases that are perposed. The Game and Fish are saying that the cap has not been raised since 1998, but when was the last time the tag fees where raise to meet the old cap? I agree that the Game and Fish need to keep up with inflasion. I receive a 3% cost of living raise a year. If the Game and Fish have not raised the cost since 1998 then let them have a 21% increase that most others are getting. this would bring them up for the 7 years that they have not raised their fees. 75% is too much! I have a 4 person house hold and am beeing priced out. I will be at the meeting in Pinetop and Springerville and will voice my issues. I hope everyone on this site attends at least one meeting. DCM -
Its a little bulky but I use 5" pieces of 2X4 and parachute cord. Drill a hole cross ways about 1" from the top and tie a 5 foot piece of cord through the hole. Rap the cord around the tree and daly it around the block, pulling it down behind the block to the string. If your cord is long enough you can go back around the tree and tie it to the block again. You need about 6 or 8 blocks depending on how hi you set your stand, maybe more. The blocks can be removed easy and limit axcess to your stand. Carry them in a small bag and they can be stashed near your stand when your not using them. DCM Good luck on your hunts.

Whats up with the draw this year. I cant even draw a leftover 30B tag. I even put in with my brother-in-law from Wisconsin. Thank fully I do have a couple of kids to take out hunting. Two for deer and one for cow elk. I wish I could make the meeting this week end in Flagstaff to try and find out what is going on with the draws. This is the first year that I have totally been shut out of any tags. What are your fealings about going back to the computor draw? DCM

a long time ago when I was going to school in Williams the back side of the threesisters was a good place. I stuck a lot of deer back then with a bow in that area. Just start walking over the hills from the ninth tee of the golf course. Scout it out first though it been 25 years sence I hunted there. DCM

Whats Up with this. Left over tags
DCMHunter replied to DCMHunter's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I don't mind the money up front. I just wonder if I did something wronge on the paper app's. Out of 15 applications for my family we only got one youth deer tag. Thats not counting the three app's for leftover tags. They need to come up with a way to still charge upfront to eliminate the "weekend waryours" DCM -
Where and when do they post a list of the leftover tags. The only thing I saw on the GF web was for military. DCM

The hole family stuck out. I guess 27 bow hunt. Congradulations to all that drew. I anyone is needing help in unit 1 or 27 give me a shout. Again congradulation to all. DCM

Hi I am a new member and would like to know what you hunters think about hunting coues with a 40 caliber muzzleloader. I am looking at getting a green mountain barrel and building a new gun. DCM

Lets try this again. I dont know if my last reply worked. I don't see it. Thanks for the information gents and ladies. I am triing to find a bullet mold for the 40 but have only found ones for round ball. I have killed deer and elk with my 54 cal and enjoy it a lot. I have been putting in for goats for ten years and am hoping to draw a tag in unit 2B for ML. I have been drawing a tag for 27/28 whitetail and think it would be a blast to hunt with a smoke pole. I hope I can get this to shoot good enough to hunt with. If any thing it will make a sweet target gun for my kids. DCM
