We saw tons of bucks on this hunt, and almost connected on a couple pretty nice bucks. She even missed a pretty nice buck earlier in the hunt before she connected with this one at 180 yards. This was probably my funnest hunt of 2009!

This was in the Northern half of AZ. I dont think the hunter acutally thought he would see a lion on this hunt. This was the 2nd day, and I guess if your not a lion hunter, watching lion hunters, you might think they are making things up at times. He had done some hunting before, but this was his first lion hunt. Werent having much luck finding a fresh track so we decided to walk a rim to see if the dogs could pick anything up. The dogs were ahead of us and down the hill when one opened. A couple of the other dogs started opening when we looked up the hill above us and saw a big cave. We walked up to the cave and couldnt see the back of it. There was a javelina skull laying at the enterence. By then the dogs were getting pretty excited, and working toward us. My buddy picked up a rock and threw it into the back of the cave and a low growl came out. Bingo! How many times does that happen!? The dogs got up to us and it all broke loose. Eventually the tom came out of the cave, doing a little fighting. Thats always fun to watch a few feet in front of you. He only got about 20 or 30 yards down the hill and had to go up a tree to get away from the dogs.

Heres a good tom we caught earlier this week. We didnt let this one walk......

Not to particular on what kind of dogs we will use, as long as they will run lions. Got walkers, blueticks, and black and tans right now.

Hey Anthony, congrats on a great ram. Great story in Western Hunter, I enjoyed reading it. You have definitely accomplished something with that.

Not sure what he weighed for sure. Thinking around 150. He wasnt as long as some toms, but he was stockier. Felt heavy carrying him out. Especially toward the end, by then he had to be around 350!!

Been trying to find a picture of a relaxed pose I saw a while back. One of the coolest lion mounts Ive ever seen. Had a dead deer with the lions front paws on the deers shoulder. The lion was looking back behind him, in a relaxed pose. I cant find a pic of it. Any ideas?

I like the pose you have there 25-06. That one would look good. The other one I had in mind had the lion on the same level as the deer and he had his head turned looking behind him.

2 Male Walker's, both are fixed and both are current with rabies and parvo. Both are 1 year old and have not been hunted yet. 1 Black and tan mix Female. This dog is not fixed, but is current with rabies and parvo. She is 2 years old and got on 5 lions (5 caught lions) at the end of last winter. She wont work a track by herself yet. Only reason I'm getting rid of these dogs is because I am over the limit by 3 according to the law. And they wont budge for me. Not charging any money for them, just trying to get them to someone that might hunt them, and I only have just over a week to get rid of them. Located in northern AZ.

They may be gone. If the guy backs out, you'll be the first to know.

I feel your frustration. Its hard enough for the guys that "do it themselves" not the ones that claim they "do it themselves". This is why I despise mags like huning fool and those that use it.

Wow! How many of you drew it as NR's. Me and 2 other buddies drew this hunt as well and we are NR's. This is the second time three of us, all NR's have drawn this hunt. First time was in '05.
