This summer take some time and go to a couple of the 3D tournaments that take place all over the state. I find it is an excellent way to practice shots that are close to hunting situations, with the pressure of a little competition helps with the nerves.

Not how I planned it... But elated with outcome!

A few extra pictures... Roger spent some time fishing at the pond near the ranch! Good thing that he did, a ranch dog got into an ice chest and ate some of our food. Roger caught enough fish to feed the whole camp dinner one night! These two became fast friends, Javier says the are now 'brothers' Glassing from the porch The amazing Miguel who backpacked my deer more than a mile out! Entrance to the ranch My deer! -
Ohhhhhhh I want the iPhone! But my husband would really kill me

Dang right! You should be!!!! I'm proud of you for holding up on the shots you were not comfortable with, then making a good shot when it counted, that's a sign of a very good hunter! Congratulations on a fantastic hunt and your first (of many to come) kill!

Happy Birthday Jim! Great write-up, awesome story! Very exciting, you are pretty tough to crawl through that cactus, I think I'm too much of a baby for that! What a great day, congrats!

Way to go Tracy! Nice job on the pig! Good luck on the deer hunt!

Awesome TJ, way to stick that pig! Congrats to you and Scott!

Yay!!!! Trying with archery equipement so the wet weather wasn't ideal! I appreciate Javier postponing until conditions are better! I'm excited!

I wouldn't wait for him to call you, give him a ring and get a date set up to get down there! Emailed Javier a couple of times, he said he was going to check cameras the Tues. before Christmas then get back to me with what he found. He didn't call so I just emailed him again last week, haven't heard back from him yet. If I don't get a response in a couple of days I'll call again!
-
Ugh.... I was suppose to go a month ago but was cancelled due to too much rain (3" in one day). Still waiting for that call to say "Come on down" I can't wait!!!

Yep, What she said!

Talk about both barrels.... I get in from the kids AND my husband! It goes something like this: Kids - "Really Mom? You want to actually kill something on Christmas Eve?" Husband - "Yeah, what they said! Nice Christmas Spirit Honey" Ugh........ They just do not understand!

Thanks TJ, My wife Alicia along with Harley and Drake wish you, Peg and Lexie a Merry Christmas as well. I really wish I could've made it to your Christmas get together last week but we had a big family snow trip up north. I never seem to be able to make it to the get togethers, always something going on! One of these days it'll work out! Harley, while nosing around in the presents under the tree, found one that is for my wife's cat and when moved it squeaks! Harley is certain there is a baby in there for her and has guarded that present ever since! No cat or dog dares go near that present! LOL! Both Harley and Drake are excited for Christmas day! Such is the life in a house with only 4 legged kids! That's funny that Harley is guarding it. I know what you mean about a house with 4 legged kids. We went x-mas shopping last night for the dogs. Thanks again for the Holiday wishes. TJ You guys are not kidding! I think I spent more $ on presents for my dogs and our new 'Grand-puppy' then I did my kids this year! Love the card Jim! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Wow TJ! I just read this after I had my elk burrito for dinner... As much as I love elk, this looks incredible and I feel a little 'let down' by my dinner tonight! P.S. Love the wine tasting!

Congrats to the young hunter.... Wow, don't know if he can top that bull, it'll be fun trying though!

Great pictures Doug! Never get tired of looking at the Canyon. Love the B&W version with the 'Peaks'... No matter if I'm looking at a picture or after traveling and driving back into town, when I see the "Peaks' I let out a small breath and say to myself or out loud "I'm Home"

Brrrrrrrr.... makes me cold looking at the pictures! Congrats on a successful hunt!
