Timing of the charge has nothing to do with it. But, we can answer that question for you if you tell us what your 3rd through 5th choices were. Most hunts don't have any tags that fall to that final draw round. So, unless you listed some late archery hunts or LO hunts on your application, then you likely drew first or second.
-
That's because there isn't a state law in NM that prohibits them from collecting the money up front on credit cards like there is here. You can blame the anti-lottery lobby for that.
-
I am convinced that those people who saw hits over the weekend and at any point today simply didn't know how to check their cards for pending charges, don't understand how to figure out if you have funds missing from the available balance, or have a bank that takes forever to show you that information. Whenever I have been drawn through the online process (and counting Elk, Fall, and Spring draws, that's a lot now), I have always been charged within the first hour or two, or never at all. Right now they're going to start calling people with bad cards. They call everyone three times, so I don't expect we will see any legitimately "new" charges for at least three days, until they have tried and failed to reach someone three times, and their tag goes back into the mix.

^^ I apologize. You'll note that I edited the post you quoted while you were replying.

And you realize that the Dems don't control Congress, right? And that there were many Dems who were against what the ATF proposed with the M855? It's not going to happen any time soon. I just found your comment about "educated" pricing to be completely ironic, because anyone who educates themselves on the reality of what's going on would know that it isn't worth any more than it was two months ago....unless the purchaser hasn't educated himself. That being said, 41 cents per round is not terribly unreasonable - still over market though. Some guys are asking 80 cents or more.
-
"Educated" based on what? The fact that the ban is not going to happen and likely never will happen in the foreseeable future? The fact that a bunch of guys drove up the price with fear buying that was all for naught? The fact that it doesn't pierce Level II armor any better than most FMJ you can buy anywhere? How about you just tell us all how much you'd like to get for it? Wouldn't that be easier?

Thanks again AG&F

ROFL!!!! Um...okay. I can see that there is no chance of having a sensible discourse on this. Who exactly is naïve here? You go on believing that someone who happens to work for government isn't entitled to a personal life or to pursue the same hobbies that led to him seeking out a career in the field in the first place. There is no conspiracy to "commercialize" hunting of your stupid little birds (what you have described is not "commercial" hunting, by the way...at most it is promotion of a resource and unique hunting opportunity....don't go throwing around terms like "commercial hunting" without thinking about what that really means), but if that belief keeps you warm at night, who am I to try to talk you back down with reason? -
Did she give you a feel for how many more people are on her list?

Who is to say that the Department is commercializing the hunt? From your description, it sounds like a hunter, who happens to also work for Game and Fish, took some guys out hunting. Does he not have a right to do that on his private time? -
AZGFD DOES IT AGAIN
1uglydude replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
This policy doesn't do either of those things. It would close private lands to hunting where the landowner does not allow Game and Fish to enter for enforcement purposes. -

1uglydude replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The policy doesn't aim to do what many of you think they are trying to do (and what might be the best thing to do). That is, it does NOT require that landowners allow the public to access their lands, it would only require that they landowners allow Department representatives on the land--presumably to ensure compliance with game laws and to confirm biological management of wildlife. It sounds like there are ranches who won't allow officers to check in on the hunting taking place there. Seeing as the wildlife being harvested is not part of a private herd, but instead state-managed and owned, I don't see how anyone could say that this would be a bad thing. Personally, I'd love to see something that went much farther. If you don't allow the public to access landlocked lands through your property, then the Department should be able to "remove" your property from the hunt unit. All such units would be considered part of the new "DB" hunt unit (you decide what DB should stand for), for which no tags would be issued. -
Lance, I have read in several place that you should never anneal nickel plated brass. The same process that softens and restores brass will harden nickel....or so the articles said.

A few years ago I purchased this 45 cal muzzleloader with plans to use it for javelina after watching the .50 tear them up too bad. I also thought it might be a bit more managble for lady hunters. I've never had time to get it worked up and it's taking up space in the safe that could be used for my planned rifle build. The Pro is the older style Optima (before the quick release breech plug). I don't believe they produce a .45 cal anymore. It is drilled and tapped for bases, but no bases are included. I also have an extra set of fiber optic sites. $150 I'm located in Gilbert. Send me a PM or text me at 480- four nine 5 - zero 134.

I used the 129 gr .277" on an elk at about 150 yards and a javelina at 100 yards out of a 270 WSM. On the elk it broke both shoulders and exited. The javelina's heart and lungs were liquefied, but the damage was contained to that area. Almost no meat was lost. I get awesome groups using RL-17. The primary difference between the LRX and the TTSX is a slight design change (not sure if it is mechanical or chemical) that allows it to expand at lower velocities. Whereas Barnes recommends impacts of at least 1900 for reliable expansion with the TTSX, they claim the LRX will expand at 1600 fps, allowing for slightly longer shots. I'm planning on using the 145gr LRX in my 7mm08 build with plans for shots out to 750 yards.

I'm looking for an gunsmith in the east valley to do some minor repair work to a 10/22. The guy I was using has closed up shop. He did good work for a great price...I'm hoping it wasn't his low prices that sent him under. Anyways, any recommendations based on actual experience would be appreciated. I don't see where there is as gunsmith listed as a sponsor of the site, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

We registered my four year old son for tee ball today and my seven year old daughter for coach pitch softball. To this point we have been practicing with borrowed equipment, but that won't be available anymore. They have some basic gloves and a few balls, but we are on the lookout for more balls, a tee stand, small aluminum bats, and possibly upgraded gloves. If anyone out there has any old equipment that their kids have grown out of and you won't be needing anymore, then please let me know.

Looking for Used Tee Ball and Girls Softball Equipment
1uglydude replied to 1uglydude's topic in Classified Ads
The reason they're playing in this particular league is because it doesn't interfere with any hunting seasons. If they get heavily involved in any sport, then I'm sure there are going to be conflicts at some point. When I was a teenager I made a conscious decision to stop playing organized sports because I liked hunting and fishing too much. I won't force that on them, but if they come to that conclusion on their own then that would be totally fine with me. -

I'm in Gilbert. -
We hunted 16A hard on Friday and Saturday. We found one herd on Friday evening that was really skiddish and didn't put up with much. One guy got a 70 yard shot with a patched roundball and was not able to connect. Saturday was a bust. It was really really hot and the moon was way too bright. At least that's what I'm chalking it up to. I'm going to see if I can make it out again next Friday.

Got any old 270 wsm brass you care to get rid of?
-
your right... I always forget.... is across closed or can you access the east side?...... closure goes almost to salome.... so that's open. A-Cross is open. The closure is only on the lake side of the road.
-
Congrats to Alex! Funny, we found ourselves in the same position on Saturday evening in 23. The only difference was we were so concerned about the light that we busted the herd out trying to get on top of them in time.

Anyone taking kids out for 23 youth this weekend?

We will be bouncing back and forth between 22 and 23. May hunt Saturday near Punkin Center. Five tags. -
Wanting to replace my Ar trigger
1uglydude replied to HuntHarder's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I have a 4# Timney on my AR. I debated going lighter, but it's so crisp and clean that I don't feel that I need to. Even at 4#, I don't have any problem shooting half inch groups or less. That being said, my next AR trigger may be the trigger made by Quentin Defense in Gilbert. Slightly cheaper than the Timney, but feels just as good. Plus, they're good local guys to deal with.
