  1. I bet i can guess who this is....but i will keep it to myself. Most of what you write is not even close to being true--some of what you say is dead on but not much. It is people like yourself that keep dividing us--stop defending a bad thing and start working with all of us!
  2. This is real--make no mistake. If it happens it will happen fast so none of us know what hit us. I loved hunting the areas around the Agua Fria and i still do but i can't walk my 77 year old Dad in there because he can't walk that far. This is the real problem i see--most of us are strong and healthy and can walk into a Monument area and hunt and then pack what we kill out but then there are all of the other folks who have handicaps and just can't go into that type of hunting area..this is discrimination at the highest level and that is where you can shut part of this down. You do not have to hunt to be discriminated against--there are many roads on the Bab to travel but once this kicks in they will be closed and you will only be able to travel on one or two--not good. Another thing i think will help with this is the loss of income to the two vacationing spots on the Bab--Jacob Lake Lodge and Kaibab Lodge--you can not get a room there in the summer time and during the archery deer season or any deer season those places are booked months in advance--this is another sticking point we all can voice our opinions on. Then there are the ranchers who have used that land for centuries--ranchers are not the enemy of hunters and they have every right to work the land as long as they use good judgment while doing so and most of them ranchers i know are the best stewards of the land they use. Take this away and we will see another part of our Arizona history go down the tubes...many bad thing can happen and i did not once mention hunting-- Inform all people that they will take away this resource form all of them and maybe they will get worked up enough to cry foul along with all of us. This is another reason to get ALL of us involved in ALL issues so we can fight it hard. BPJ and Don Martin have done a lot for our sport and i believe them when they say this is real--time to work together folks!

What is a 133" pick up worth

Bill, all i can find in an answer on the frequently asked questions section: I found a dead elk/deer; can I have the antlers? No, you may not have the antlers unless an Arizona Game and Fish Department officer has determined that the animal died of natural causes. Natural causes do not include an animal that was killed by a vehicle or rifle or archery, died later and was not recovered. Here is the link to this page: http://www.azgfd.gov/faq/LawsRegulations.shtml
  9. I am not sure i am qualified but if for some reason you still need a person who believes in the majority i am willing to help as well. Allen would be my first choice here--along with many others who are like minded. Terry Herndon

  12. March 28, 2012 To all Arizona RMEF Members The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) became aware of House Bill 2072, an act related to Big Game Tags and Permits introduced to the Arizona Legislature, earlier this month. The RMEF, representing over 5,500 members in Arizona and over 185,000 in the US, went on record opposing the bill in a letter to Arizona Governor Janice K. Brewer. RMEF is now appealing to you, our members in Arizona, to make your voice heard on this poorly crafted legislation. HB 2072 would allocate a significant number of Arizona’s most prestigious and already limited permits to a “conservation” organization, most likely, Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife, the primary advocates of this legislation. This action would undermine one of the most basic tenants of the North American Wildlife Conservation Model…that hunting is an opportunity for all. The allocation of 330 special permits for auction and raffle in a state with already limited public opportunity would be nothing short of a travesty and it will take away tags from those who participate in the public draw system. The absurdity of HB 2072 does not stop there. This bill allows the “conservation” group selling these permits to exclusively retain an unreasonable percentage of the gross proceeds from the sale of these permits to cover administrative and operating expenses. The RMEF is proud to report that an average of only 8% of all Governor’s and Commissioner’s permits RMEF offers nationwide is retained for administrative purposes. 92% of the gross proceeds have been returned to the states and conservation projects to be invested only in benefiting wildlife and their habitat. In Arizona specifically, RMEF currently returns 100% of the sale proceeds from the one special elk permit we sell. RMEF actually loses approximately $3,500 annually through direct expenses associated with handling the AZ elk permit. While RMEF believes it is appropriate for organizations to recover direct expenses associated with selling special permits, we firmly believe that private, non-profit entities should not take public assets to support their operational expenses. We operate RMEF the old fashion way, we work for what we get. We are not guaranteed any tags or licenses to create operational revenue. As a member of RMEF and resident of Arizona it is time to contact your legislator and make your position known on HB 2072, or any similar legislative attempts to take public wildlife from the public. Please act today as this legislation would significantly impact your opportunity to hunt your prized big game species in your home state. Sincerely, M. David Allen President and CEO Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation
  13. No Donnie--Jesus gave his life for all man's sin's. So i think maybe Mark is comparing all hunters to the sinners at the time the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified. They must believe that they are sacrificing themselves for all of our sin's in some way? I am not against any person speaking in terms of the Lord but in this case i believe Mark could have chose his words a little differently. Thanks Stan!!!!

    Lobbyists

I think using the name ALLIANCE we could actually get chapters through out the state. I know there are several that would fall into the same pattern---South Eastern Sportsman Group---Souther Sportsman Group--and the Coconino Sportsman Group--and others. If we could all work together i know we could do a better job for those regions that need more attention. We will have to have a big old BBQ meeting in the very near future to discuss everything with everyone to see where this new org will go. We have 40 people as of right now who want to be a part of this and i believe we can grow that pretty fast if we want to. We will keep you all up to speed and get everyones input as we move forward.

    New to Coues

True statement AZSLIM...also know that Coues Deer will move through out the day--they will go to water when most deer are bedded up and they will always get up and move out of the sun if it is warm. Of course this is my experience and may not be the same for others but i hope it helps.

Last year it came out on the 29th--here is a link from last year: http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24394&st=0&p=248672&hl=+2011%20+antelope%20+draw&fromsearch=1entry248672 I think the 29th was on a Wednesday last year and it was before the Expo--am i wrong on this?? I was pretty sure it was before the expo last year. But this is the first year we have had the on line draw for a few years but i wouldn't think that would slow it down.

I think it has more to do with the getting everything done at the Expo but in reality the Expo doesn't have anything to do with the draw. I know it gets super busy over there but the draw department does their thing and the Expo goes on. You should check the expo out it is a lot of fun and there are a ton of good folks out there. It is fun to see the kids out there! I still think it will be this week--and from what i was told they want to get it done during the week so they can take calls from people with questions. In the past it was on Friday's but the past few years they have been in the middle of the week.... Good luck to all of you!!!!
