First Bow Kill for the Dentman

Donnie, Got your email at the house this morning but had to get out the door to work. I will email you back when i get home to let ya know what to do with that 21 tag that you want to donate to the HOAL. He is a dandy buddy!! And that little girl is precious!!
  2. Here is my hunters buck from the Carazozo area. Well, here we are in Sept.! In about one month i will be getting a chance at my own pronghorn in New Mexico--by that time i will have been to Springer to guide a hunter and to Carazozo to guide a hunter--it will be really awesome to hunt for myself--i bet i am real picky, just like my hunters!! I hope all who had tags for these awesome critters had some great luck and had a great time in the Land of Enchantment!!! Good luck to all of you in Sept. and i hope to have a few pictures of my buck in Oct. on here!!
  3. Yea Doug--i plan on running over there in two weeks to check the stock out!! i will post some pictures if i get any good ones.

    trail cam

Remember, when a buck grows antlers it takes just as much energy as a doe that is growing a fetas in her. They will look shabby for a while until the growing stops--tough life for these critters--grow, drop, grow, drop--man, that has got to take it's toll!!
  5. I would gladly pay 4 bucks for a head of lettuce if they could get them all out of our state. Right now we pay more like 6 to 8 bucks a head. It isn't the price on the lettuce that you pay it is all of the other things we have to pay because of them. Insurance, Doctor's bills, crime rates and what we pay by taxes to keep them in the pen--the list goes on and on--do you think the BP is free?? Not a chance!! Do you think we can ship them back across the border for free? Not a chance!! Now, tell me, where do you think the money comes from that pays for all of that?? 4 bucks for a head of lettuce--heck yea, I'll pay it!! By the way, when i was growing up i worked for my grandma cleaning homes--we did the work back then and i bet the folks here would do it again. The reason there is no one working in any of those fields now is because the illegals have under bid them--heck, they can do that when they pay no taxes, pay no insurance, live 50 in a house and the list goes on and on. My dad was a carpenter and when he worked for companies there were a few out there that worked for the same wage--now, the contractors hire them by the dozen and pay them half of what my Dad was getting paid--i ask you this, have you seen the house prices dropping over the years?? Doubt it-know why?? Because the businesses that use these people are making the money. I'm sorry if i sound like i am fed up but i am!! I will be 50 in a year and a half--i have lived in this state my whole life and have seen what has happened here and it is mostly due to greedy people and illegals. I'm done!

    Ground blind hunting?

All i can tell ya is, no matter how far away you put it you better wait until they have their nose buried in the water before you draw to shoot--any little sound or movement before or after that will send them hauling the proverbial butt away from you. When they are slurping they can't hear as well.

    Any Takers

The only problem with any of these ideas (which i think are great) is that once you hang a tree stand, set a ground blind, or hang a trail cam it does not belong to you--it belongs to whoever takes it--i know that really shouldn't matter but in the world or law enforcement that is how they see it. I hate thieves as much as anyone but unless you know every Tom, Jerk, and Fairy walking in the woods you probably will never know who took your camera and the NFS and the Sheriff's office will have no jurisdiction on something that is left in the forest. Sorry for the let down guys but i have called the law when i had something taken that i set in the woods--they said just what i just wrote you and that is the law--sucks doesn't it?

    China Peak

Yup, been there done that. Actually there are a lot of deer there--we went in from the Deer Creek side and hiked in and camped there. On the first day we saw one other hunter in there--he had just shot a lion that was chasing a doe--two days later we had two 3x3's and were on our way back to the truck--we ran into the guy with the lion and he shot a spike buck. He said he had seen a bigger buck with the spike but he wanted the spike for the meat. yes, there are deer in there.
  13. I thought about it but the haters will still be there. It is up and running--we were down for a couple of days due to some server problems.

  15. He is a dandy for sure! if you don't get him he might be able to shed some of those genes around a little more this year.
  16. Lance, What do you think tilt will end up scoring?? I will take a stab at 385" give or take a few inches???

    Pretty impressed..

John, You are always a class act anywhere you go on any site. MM has gone down for years and i stay away from there completely. This is a great site and most of the folks here are just like you--class act! Of course there are those that like to stir the pot anywhere you go and usually they don't last too long. why don't you show these folks your pronghorn you shot with your muzzy.

    Auction Elk Tag filled ???

i will wait and see what the outcome is--i have been accused of things in my life and later the people who jumped on the bashing ship had to eat their words--these people are good people and they really have no need to break any law to kill monster bulls. Not saying they did or didn't but if you were in their shoes wouldn't you hope that people wouldn't play judge and jury on you?? Innocent until proven guilty folks--lets wait and see what happens before we convict anyone.
  19. But the water holes (most of them) are man made--that was the point i was making. Natural water sources are few and far between and in this state we need man made water to help all living creatures survive so sitting a man made water hole is no different than sitting a block of salt. I didn't think you were saying you wanted to keep anyone out of the field--your just passionate about your sport and i am too---- By the way, if your interested (any of ya) we started a program through the AZ game and fish that is called "adopt a Catchment" you can call your district g&f person and get forms that you can fill out and send back to the game and fish. These forms then will be given to the WM of the area, after they look over the form and see what needs to be done they will head out and fix any problems that are there.
  20. I like to set up cameras to see what is walking around out there and i wouldn't hesitate to sit a site and shoot an animal--at the same time i like to spot and stalk animals just as much as anyone--hunting is hunting and to each their own. There are some folks out there that sit water and salt that in their prime could probably walk all of you macho spot and stalk boys into the ground but with time, hard work, and a lot of other things these folks can't do that any longer--are you willing to push these folks out of hunting because YOU don't like that style of hunting? I don't think you are but that is what would happen and that isn't right is it? Now, for the second part of this post--how many deer/elk/bear/antelope/ and other critters are out there now that wouldn't be out there if hunters didn't pack water and salt/minerals into the woods?? I would say more than is taken by someone sitting water and salt plots--so you see, there is a ton of benefits for the salt plots and water holes and with out them you may not have the same number of animals to spot and stalk. The bottom line is that we help each other in our sport and we need to be aware of the comments we make against our fellow hunters. Now for the third part: The AES has been watering the water holes/tanks/and guzzlers in Unit 9 for over two weeks--any of you hunting up there this year for elk?? Would you want them to stop putting water out? You know that is the main reason they don't go into unit 7/8/10--no water no elk, no water no deer--and, as been said here already, you put water in the same category as "baiting". Good luck and be safe out there!!

    HOAL-Arizona

Tony, If you ever want to write an article on the HOAL that would help more than anything else. We need to get the word out about what this group does and how it helps these kids. This group is one that is ALL about the kids. If we can help them by giving them something to look forward to besides chemo, radiation, or how they are feeling then it is worth more money than anyone could acquire! Right now we have a lot of tags and not enough kids--bitter sweet situation but i really don't think all of the kids out there with life threatening illnesses know about the HOAL--if we could get the word out to more major magazines i think we would have more kids than tags. So, Tony, if you can throw your talent into it and we could get an article in any magazine out there that would help us to find more kids to make happy--if only for a few days. Marshall is our Public Information officer and i am sure he can give you any info you need for an article--i can help too. Thanks Tony--anything you can do will be greatly appreciated!!

    HOAL-Arizona

Keith, that is the link. There will be another link that will have a donation form--you will need to fill this form out and then sign your tag. Once you have that all done you need to send the envelope to the address that is on that link. If, for some reason, we can not use the tag we will send it back to you well before the season--just in case you find a way to utilize it. I want to thank you for thinking of the HOAL organization--it is truly an org that makes your heart feel good and really helps the kids stay positive through their battle. If you have any other questions feel free to contact me at arizonaoutfitter@cox.net or call me on my cell phone at 623-696-5579 and i will help with any question you might have. Thanks again!
  23. Looks as if i got a ranch that isn't 12 hours away. I have the Oct. hunt and the ranch i have is the Daniel White Ranch near Atarque New Mexico. Do any of you New Mexico fellas or gals know anything about that area for pronghorn? I will be heading over there in a couple of weeks to have a look. I have hunted near crazies and Socorro and have guided in Springer and the two just mentioned areas but have ever been around the White Ranch--i am excited about that area just because i have never been there!!
