You don't look old enough to drive that quad!! Nice finds---i have seen some bucks in the tanks that would make that first picture look small.

Jim, Brian called me too on Saturday and i couldn't go--now i am kicking myself in the butt for not getting out there with him. Hey DB--at least you could see what you were cleaning!!!! -
Ken, you can usually pull the manual off the web--just go to the make and model and see if it can be downloaded.
-
I heard they are still two weeks out!
-
Jim has it dead nuts on! There are way too many of them out there not to shoot them year round and i can't think of a better way to improve your shooting skills than hunting predators.

It is a matter of due process--true, if it were ONE of us we probably would not be allowed to have a meeting with the commission but since it includes a whole lot more then the commission needs to hear what Cabela's has to say. Due process is all that is being done today and i do not believe the commission would or will give the extension--however, i do believe there may be an exception on bonus points and i think that will be wrong. Way back in 1986 i was drawn for an elk tag in 6A for archery--i was pumped up when i found out and even more pumped up when i got the tag in the mail--imagine how i felt when game and fish called me and told me because of one of the checks bouncing i had to give my tag back--not my check but a persons that was in my envelope. They wouldn't even talk to me about the tag--they simply stated that rules were the rules and i had to hand deliver my tag back to the office and if i were to be caught hunting with the tag then i would be cited. No, the bottom line is rules are rules and that is the way it should be. I do think DB has a good point and one that i agree with--Cabela's wouldn't be doing their job if they were not asking for this from the commission--i would say that they know already what the result would be but i still believe they will angle for some kind of preference on bonus points lost and loyalty points--that is the only fear i have and that is why i will be there to speak on the issue.

I am still very interested so hang on for another day and i will get with you. That is a great deal.

I have the Geovids and i think the Swaro's do a better job. I also think you need to consider the fact that the readings in the Leica's are in red you may have a problem seeing the red letters if your color blind. I know mine are red and i see it just fine but i have a buddy who is color blind and he can't see the readings. Pronghorn are the toughest animal to read--no matter how good your RF is/are you will not have very many readings past 400 to 500 yards out--it is frustrating when you have long range shooters and you can not tell them with a pair of $2300 dollar glass and RF what the distance is!!!

C-Man, you can sit with me and my son in law--i will save a seat for you when i get there or you can save two for us-- -
The ranches we hunt on sell their tags for a whole lot more than what you posted Jason--some as high as $4500.00 and people are standing in line to hunt those ranches. This is the problem you will encounter when you try to sell the program. I will be interested to see how you do--and i really hope you make a good point as it seems like you are passionate about your battle--Good Luck!

Jason, The lady i know lost her husband and her son and now is raising her grandson--she has very few cattle on the ranch and the money she needs to keep things running comes from the L/O tags. She leases her land to other ranchers but she doesn't make a lot of money. Your proposal is good but you will have to figure out a way to make it worth the ranchers time. Right now the ranchers will rotate their cattle to different pastures but they still keep water in their stock tanks--this is a benefit to the wildlife. How much money do you think ranchers make each year off of tags?? How much money do you think outfitters make off of L/O tags?? You will have to find a way to appease the ranchers and pay them what they are making now before they listen to any thing you have to propose--i do not think the open gate policy will get the money that the ranchers make now. I do not make my living guiding but i do make some money so my loss will be a lot less than some other guides who do that for a living--and, i stay pretty busy in AZ as it is so not driving 9 hours to guide someone wouldn't break my heart. So, how much money does this open gate policy generate for the ranchers--i can tell you that money is the driver so if it is more than the L/O tags you might have a chance.

I put a poll up on AZOD if you all want to go there here is the link http://azodchat.com/forum/index.php

In AZ we fought to keep the NR at 10% but we are different in that we have 87% public land here--i do know that there are things happening here that leads me to believe that some ranchers will be asking a lot of money for trespassing fee's very soon. In one case there is a ranch that has been open for walk in hunting here since i was a young hunter--now, the next generation has taken it over and along with a very good outfitter (i won't mention names) has closed the entire ranch off--this ranch is nearly 80% of Unit 19B here in AZ and is one of the best antelope/mule deer/soon to be elk units we have. There is another motion in play that will allow this same ranch to trade land for the Yavapai Ranch and if this happens the entire unit (or close to it) will be off limits to anyone who doesn't have the dime to pay. I see this happening in other units as well--unit 8--unit 10 come to mind. i know on the unit 10 ranch there is a huge trespass fee to hunt this ranchers place--you have to wonder why anyone would pay that when unit 10 has a lot of acres--but then again, the Indians bought the largest ranch in the unit and it won't be long until that unit is just about closed for the regular guys. I am lucky when it comes to getting drawn for antelope though---even here in AZ i have been drawn 4 times over the years--and no i am not 80 years old--yet! i have been drawn for rifle once, muzzy once and archery twice--done pretty good with those too. And i feel bad for your dad and i can relate--my dad is 73 and he has never been drawn here or in New Mexico--15 points this year so here is hoping.
