ASU Drops Wrestling Program
TLH replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Casey, they still did. They were always in the top 20 in the country and this year they had at least 4 all Americans on the team. This is BS big time--money, money, money--if they can't make it they just push it to the side. I wrestled for Bobby Douglas in the early 80's at ASU and was proud to be on the team--my brother in law, and his brothers all wrestled there--maybe some of you have heard of him--Dave Severn? His brother is Dan "The Beast Severn" and they were both all Americans This sucks!! -

Hey Jim, what do ya think Bryan is doing behind that turkey anyway?? He seems to have a twinkle in his eye (Bryan, not the turkey) Come to think of it, what is he doing behind that Mulie buck?? -
You all missed out! It was a blast!

Guys, I know Neil and i know a lot of you on here that have posted. I can tell you that what you will read will be entertaining but for most of you veterans the info will be somewhat basic. There will be some cool pictures of live and dead critters for the unit that is chosen, there might be some kind of terrain explained and weather conditions and yes, possibly some tips that will help the new hunter who has a hard time with a starting point. I have read many sites and i can tell you that i have read more about where to start hunting on the three i visit that i can honestly say that if i wanted to hunt a unit i have never been in that i could start with one of the posts that all of you have put on the boards. I think the very best part of a mag like this is (and it has been stated here) you don't have to read about eastern whitetails and how to get them closer to your tree stands--or about critters we may never see in our lifetime--just good old Arizona critters and that is the best part about the whole thing. I have been a part of another magazine that is all about Arizona but there were a lot of other things in that mag that i didn't care for--i don't care to read about fishing--i like hunting and i like hunting big game--this mag will not have any fishing related story's in it and that is what i like. It will have hunting and more hunting with pictures and stories of hunts--not in Utah, not in Nevada but right here in AZ--now you can't beat that there can ya?

If the Chinese were sneaking in to the Soviet Union how would the Russians handle it?? An invasion is an invasion and that is the way it should be handled. -

I can't find Pillar but i can find Pelita which is just north east of Douglas in Cochise county. I have the National Geographic Program and it has not Pillar Peak in the files. This mountain range looks to be one of the only ranges that is around Douglas. He also could be thinking that this is the Pillar Peak--http://www.mountainzone.com/mountains/detail.asp?fid=5581956 This one would be a beatch to fight because it is in the a ways with a lot of vertical climbs--very dangerous to fight too as the fire will want to move fast up the steep mountain feeding on the fuel and O2.

A buddy of mine uses them when he is guiding hunters--he calls the bull with a cow call then walks the bull right in front of his hunter--most of the time the hunter has a 15 to 30 yard broadside shot. (he shields his self with the decoy and walks backward) They are good if you have a buddy calling and working with you. By the way, Eric, my pal, had a female hunter last year that killed a 375" bull and that bull was the third bull he called into range for this gal--she missed two bigger bulls! Eric uses the hind end decoy. If you want to use mine i will be happy to let ya take it for the season--you will save some bucks. I have the full body decoy. By the way, i used this decoy two years ago while guiding a Hunt of a Lifetime young man and we sat it up at the water hole--sure enough we had a couple rag horns come in to the tank after they held up half way--i cow called very lightly and they saw the decoy and came running in--the young one couldn't get a clean shot at the bulls and they walked off--it was a lot of fun even if we didn't kill a bull.

So, these guys shoot jackrabbits and get their privileges taken away with a $750.00 fine and the guys that shot horses and killed bears over their carcasses got away with a slap on the wrist?? Hmmm, what gives here?? If you all are familiar with the incident that happened last year then you know some of those people were only fined $50.00 bucks or some ridiculous thing like that. My question is why is it so different? Why were these bear poachers not fined to the last penny that the law can take?? And finally what the heck is the result of that incident?? Funny how things just go away after a while and everyone kind of forgets about it isn't it?

Home Depot has a bunch of different size trailers--i was just there and saw a lot of them already to go.

Pisses me off--that guy is completely out of control! I can not believe the disrespect he showed one of the speakers at the Saturday meeting and if i were a die hard archer i would be very worried about the way he feels about archers.

A couple of bird dogs that someone was giving away.
-
Yup, they are pretty good and you can use them for place mats for the dinner table!!
-
Mike, i have a .410 and they will shoot the high brass but i have a problem killing quail with mine--not sure if you could heat them up to kill a turkey. It would be a kick in the backside to hunt beards with one though.

I had the Toyos on my F250 and they only went about 32 thousand miles--did not like them at all. Went with the BFG muds and got 45 thousand out of them and only traded them in because they started getting really loud after a while. Also tried the Pathfinders and they did do pretty well for the price--35 thousand. -
And to think--there are people out there that pays people to hook them in the lip!!!

Take a woman hunting!!
TLH replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Some woman are more likely to start hunting if they can get into shooting. I take a lot of woman shooting because my daughters both love to shoot--my youngest loves to hunt but my oldest doesn't want to kill anything. My point is, i took both of them shooting and then out of the two one of them caught the "fever"--now she gets a lot of her friends to shoot and go hunting with us. The more the better i say--if the woman want to get into the hunt then i would have not problem taking them out and showing them what i know--they then can take that and make it better as most woman look at hunting with a different attitude than men--we want to kill the biggest and they want to enjoy the entire experience--we men could take some lessons from the gals on that one. -

I know that after several months of having 4 or 5 robotic mini subs in the ocean gathering data that the scientific community is now more confused than ever--it appears that instead of the ocean gaining in temperature it has actually dropped 2 or 3 degree's--now the scientific community is having some real issues with the "whys" of our earth--the ocean appears to be gaining in temp because the ocean has risen and that is usually made because the ocean is warming not cooling. Science is just that--science--there is really no pr oven theory's as the earth will change daily. I see it like the weather--the weather folks will tell you what they think will happen but in the end the earth will give you what she will give you--not guarantee's and that is the best that can be done. I find it funny that man thinks math is perfect when man made math--man is not perfect, math can not be perfect and science is based on math (mostly) It is evolution at it's finest and that is how we are supposed to go--true, man has made earth warmer by building tons of building, pavement and the 24 hour work day--sure, the earth will warm because of this but when i see that it was 98 degrees in Phoenix in 1938 i wonder if the scientist in those days thought that it was caused by global warming or if they just said--dang, it is warm today?
