You know Bill i have been told by biologists that coyote's do not hunt in packs but i have seen them work a doe until she was to tired to move ( i killed two of the dogs and the third ran off, the doe laid down and rested for over an hour before getting up again) i have also seen them use the relay hunt just like wolves do--i think they are evolving into pack hunters and they have been doing it for some time now. Good for you for saving those bucks.

TAM, I am picky now--when i first started hunting antelope i was just wanting to kill a buck--as it was my first rifle tag was in unit 2C and it is not known for a big antelope--i killed a buck that scored 83 4/8th SCI after sitting on my wall for 5 years--i would guess he would have been a little bigger when he hit the ground. Then i killed a 65" with my bow, then i was drawn for a muzzy tag--killed my biggest there--87 6/8 SCI 87 2/8th B&C--now i don't want to kill a buck unless he will be between the two big ones i have. There were two bucks on that ranch last year that would have been in the mid 70's and they were neat looking bucks but they needed to grow some more--there were two of us on the ranch and a kid killed a little 65'' buck but he was stoked about it. My pappy is 73 and he has never been drawn--i was hoping this was his year but NOT! I put him in for New Mexico and i pray he gets a tag there this year. Good luck on the draw buddy!!

TAM, This buck was killed in unit 10. I also saw one like him in unit 7 two years ago that would have gone 86" or so--good looking buck but i don't think anyone has ever seen the 7 buck--he lives in the thick Ceders and he is hard to find. I saw him once and that was it--i tried to find him three times after that but no luck and i spent some time in there looking for him. I hope i can get a tag for New Mexico this year--i had one last year but the bucks were dinks on the ranch i had and i opted not to kill one.

Eli had a hunter last year that killed a buck that looked a lot like your fish hook buck. I think they called him the freak or something like that. Here he is Awesome buck.

I don't know about that DB--i think McCain will be the winner only because of the Reagan Democrats and the woman democrats. Remember, woman vote far more than men and the woman who wanted Hillary are not going to vote for Obama--Obama has the African American vote, some of the young people and that is just about it--oh, and the liberals. McCain has the Conservative voters, the right wingers, and a lot of the votes from democrats that don't want anything to do with a junior senator that has no business being a President. In the end i think Obama will be seen as the rookie he is and the more experienced candidate will prevail--we have a long way to go to Nov. and a lot of things can and will happen. I take McCain and it won't be that close either---remember Mondale?? He was a shoe in too.

We had a meeting for the Arizona Trophy Book about a month ago and i was looking at the Coues entries--all of them were over 100" but the biggest three were killed in the October hunt--makes me want to hunt in October instead of December. I think there were 5 entries this year--4 from October and the last from December. I can tell you that none of them were bigger than 115" A little off topic but i thought it was interesting.

And what a fine rack Josh has!!!
-
You know me ken--i put in for antelope.
-
Josh, Who would be the B&C scorer that scored it as a Coues?? That would be a good thing to know. If this scorer thinks it is a Coues then he may not know what he is looking at.
-
Doug, What are the regular prices on these??

RIP UP THOSE AZG&F SURVEY CARDS!!!!
TLH replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
During the rules and regulation meeting the commission turned a lot of archery hunts into a draw because they made reporting the harvest mandatory--the archers felt like they were singled out because the mandatory reporting only applied to them--i agree, they were hosed on that one. The whole premise of the 20% rule that caused this draw situation was from the harvest reports. If the archers were the only people that were mandated to return the harvest report and the rifle hunters were not how in the heck did the commission come up with the 20% ruling?? If they would have made the reporting mandatory for all deer hunts then they could have justified the 20% rule but with only a small % reporting their rifle and muzzy kills the way they did the archers was bogus. I think they should have made reporting mandatory and then seen just how many deer were being taken--this would have been the only real and fair way that the draw should have came about for the archers. -
Lefty, You are a lucky turd!! I will be 50 this year and i just hope i can get a tag before my old wrestler knee's can't do what they will need to do when the time comes. I will tell you that even if i am 80 years old i will either kill a good ram or i will have to be pulled off the mountain in a body bag trying!!
-
Yup, i think the kid is going to take the old man. Pulver is a stud but the kid is just as tough and a lot younger. Should be a good fight for sure!
-
I will take one Chris--let me know how to get the money to you.
-
Lark, been bit--i have also been dang near killed by another man out hunting but i don't go around killing them either. If they are aggressive for no reason they will more than likely die--if the go the other way or just sit there looking at me they live--just me--don't expect anyone else to understand.
-
Massasauga is the coolest of the bunch. i have seen a couple near Safford--i have gotten to the point where i just don't kill every snake i see--

Brent, It depends on what they will do for you. Will they go and fuse the two disks together? Will they remove the disc's? What are they going to do? I know a couple of people who have had this done and the one's that have a fusion usually get back going a lot faster than the ones who go and do more major things--like disc removal and that type of surgery. I can tell you i know two firefighters--one carpenter and one manager that i work with that has had the operation--the firefighters were back up and running a lot faster than the teacher and the Carpenter was actually up faster than the firefighters--why?? Physical condition--the better shape you have your self in the faster you will be up and running. The very best thing you can do for yourself is research the surgeon that will be doing the operation--just like hiring a guide, check the references and look at his surgical record--don't go to the first one your regular Doc. sends you to--period!! One last thing to ask--have you tried other forms of non surgical treatment? Physical Therapy? Pain Specialist? any of that?? I will have to have my neck and back fixed one of these days but for now i am trying to build the muscles up and if that doesn't do i have the epidural. I was hit by a guy about two years ago and my neck and lower back has not been the same--right now i have a burning pain in my arm and i don't want to live like this the rest of my life but with the advancement of medicine and surgical procedures i think i will hang in there until i feel comfortable with the surgery. Good luck bud---i hope it works out perfectly for you.

Let them grow it until they are just about ready to harvest then call the feds in on them--nothing like keeping their little minds and hands busy while waiting for the plants to harvest! I would be very careful though as hunters are not the only people that watch these sites and they may be waiting for you next time--i think i would have got the camera and got out of there instead of changing the card. Be careful DB--these people don't give a dang about life and they will take you out with out any reason at all. -
As with any animal there are times when you can stalk to 100 yards (or a lot less) and then there are times when 500 yards is what you have. I know a few hunters that will take the 500 yard shot because they are good enough to take it and because there may be a canyon between the deer and them they will take the shot. It is always better to get closer to an animal to make the shot but if all you have is 500 yards and you know you can drive tacks with the rifle set up you have then take the shot--lazy doesn't have a thing to do with it.

Yup, super people there--Dave knows his stuff and there is no pressure to buy anything.
-
123,000 for the mulie tag, 22,000 for the Coues and 3100.00 for the San Carlos tags--the ADA did pretty well considering we were down about 200 people from last year.

ASU Drops Wrestling Program
TLH replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Daryl, they can not hold them back a year if the close the program. A lot these wrestlers will have a lot of schools calling them trying to get them to sign on for the remaining years-- By the way, did you notice that they kept the womans tennis and swimming team?? Now that is fair isn't it? -
Lark, All i can say is that he must have been something else. I am sorry for your and his families loss. I also would like to tell you that i wish you and i could be friends as i have never seen anyone write such a fantastic eulogy for the people he loved. They sure are a bunch of lucky hunters in heaven today aren't they.
