I know elk can hear it snap photos and/or video. I've seen too many patterns of them coming in after the first pic. And I have tried to listen for the cam to go off, but can hear nothing.

Buy the sight from an archery shop and they'll help you with the right peep size, and set up! That size of the "circle" around the pins will make a difference to match up your peep size! -
