Hard to beat this rifle without spending well over $1000. I have one of these and a Remington Sendero in 300 RUM that is extremely accurate. I find myself going to the 7mm mag more and more over the 300 RUM because it is so much lighter and I lose very little on accuracy.
-
My vote is for 7mm Mag or 300 RUM. But if you don't reload these may not be the ideal choices.
-
Hard to pass up free brass. There isn't a right or wrong load to start with, just personal preference. Maybe do the 9mm and a long range rifle like the 300RUM. Loading handgun is quick and pretty straight forward. When you start to push for long range accuracy is where you really start to tweak, refine, and perfect your load formula and process.

This video should help you out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-UrMTyJ1_E

Wish I could help but I'm a terrible pig hunter. My boy has a youth tag in 37B in a few weeks. We are going to hit the youth camp south of Florence to get any help we can. Good luck, I hope you find some.

Hoss50 has some good advise here. Most people get into reloading for increased accuracy and cost savings. You aren't going to see nearly as great of a return on 9mm and 223 as you would on the big long range guns. Again, I am speaking to both accuracy and cost. I would switch it around and start loading with the 300RUM, 270, etc. I live out in Queen Creek. If you ever want to come by a check out my set up, or come watch/help reload a few rounds let me know. I use a single stage RCBS press and currently load for 300 RUM, 7mm Mag, 7-08, 243, 223, and 44 Rem Mag.

Nice work! Doing it youself is definitely the best way to do it. I started doing my own a couple of years ago. I definitely get better meat and more of it. I do my own jerky, brats, Italian sausage, etc, but haven't tried summer sausage yet. I'm definitely going to give your recipe a try. Thanks for sharing your recipe. -

New to duck hunting; trying out some tank hopping
rossislider replied to Rando's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I'm with you Rando. I've never duck hunted but have wanted to get into it for a while. I picked up a few great tips from BigBrowns earlier in the year, but have been so busy with work, family, and other hunts that I haven't given it a go yet. Good luck and let us know how it goes! -
I want to give Mark and his staff down at Healy Arms a shout out for some amazing service. I've been looking around for a 5.5" Ruger Redhawk for about a year. In that time I hadn't seen one in any shops. Each time I inquired in a shop, I was told that they hadn't seen one in a long time and they had no idea if and when they would get one. I decided to shoot Mark a message through this forum to see if or when he might get one. He told me they didn't have any, but he would be happy to inquire and let me know. My assumption was that at some point 6 months or so down the road I might get a hear back from him. What I didn't know was he had his team jump on it immediately. A couple of days later he called and let me know that I was under no obligation, but that he had found one for me. This was right after Thanksgiving. Reluctantly I decided that with all of the expenses of the holidays, and my whole family still to shop for, it would be selfish of me to spend that kind of money on myself. Just a few minutes later my wife called me at work. I mentioned that Redhawk (she knew I had been looking) but told her that the timing was bad, we shouldn't spend that kind of money right now, and so I told Mark to pass. Apparently the second we got off the phone she called Mark and he helped her work out a great birthday (it was yesterday) surprise for me. Yes, I have and amazing wife who I don't deserve. If you are looking for a firearm and want awesome service and knowledge that you likely can't get from the big guys, be sure to give Mark and his team a call!

NBA TV Ad with Bloomber Anti-Gun Group Everytown USA
rossislider replied to jmwarren65's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
It's been at least 10 years since I gave a rip about anything NBA related. This just adds one more reason to the list of why I can't stand the biggest collection of thugs in all of sports. But go ahead and run the ads. The more they push this crap, the more gun sales sky rocket. -
Congratulations! Fantastic way to end the year for sure!

I will give you $20 for 1 doz Sorry, I would if I could. But we are having a big family party tonight with a lot of people and I would be in big trouble if I did.

I have a friend who went down into Mexico yesterday and brought me back 9 dozen at $5 a dozen. I'm going to be eating tamales at tonight's Christmas eve party till I explode!

This afternoon while at Bass Pro I picked up 1000 rounds of Winchester 22LR ammo. My kids and I are fairly well stocked up, but I know a few individuals in were who were looking so their kids could get out and shoot their Christmas presents, or just shoot in general. If this sounds like you and your kids, I bought this ammo for you. This brick of 1000 contains two boxes of 500 rounds each. The total with tax was $61.58. I'd love to see the two bricks of 500 go to two different families. $31 for each brick of 500 Please only buy if you intend to take your kids out shooting. Not looking for someone to buy only to add to their giant stash, or to mark up and resell. Located in Queen Creek (Ironwood and Ocotillo) or I work in Tempe (Mcclintock and University).

October Coues: Finally broke into 100" club!

Congrats Justin! Great buck. -
My son was lucky enough to draw a cow hunt with one of his friends. We headed up Wednesday night so we could do some scouting on Thursday in preparation for opening morning on Friday. Well things didn’t go according to plan opening morning. It was really cold, windy, and the elk we were hoping to find from the day before weren’t cooperating. After trying several different strategies throughout the day, we were successful in finding some elk in the evening. Both boys killed within about a mile of each other and 30 minutes apart, just before dark as the snow began to fall. It worked out great because we got LOTS of snow Friday night and with the hunting done, the snowmobiles came out! Early morning scouting for these three. We watched these rams, and LOTS of antelope while glassing. The wind made it ridiculously cold! A happy hunter! Post hunt fun Got out of the high country just as it REALLY started coming down! This was on the highway by Greens Peak.
