Definitely give Dave a call. He helped me out a ton with some similar questions. Great guy!

I've used the 12x50s freehand extensively. It has never bothered me.

I have both Razor 10x42s and Razor 12x50s. I am pretty much always hunting with my son or wife, hence 2 pairs. Both serve a slightly different purpose, but for all around use I definitely prefer the 12x50s. I have no problem free handing the 12x50s, and really like the extra magnification, especially on the tripod. I just got a great deal on some Swaro el 12x50s and am selling my Razor 12x50s if interested.

What's the deal with RUM brass
rossislider replied to DesertBull's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm on my 5th time through with some of my Remington brass. Like Lance said, Norma will last a lot longer than that. Expensive, but long picture, probably worth it. I definitely wouldn't shy away from the 300 RUM because of the extra cost of Norma brass. That said, I have a heavy Sendero 300 RUM that is my go to if I'm not hiking in a long distance and a Tikka t3 lite 7mm mag for the pack in hunts. Both great guns shooting about 1/2 MOA. Just depends on how I am hunting. -
I wouldn't do it if you live in the valley, way to hot. Up north you will probably be fine. I personally wouldn't put mine in the garage, but that is just my preference. I let my wife know early on that if she objected to mounts in the house, she was welcome to stay in the garage.

Returning tag for reinstatement of bonus points
rossislider replied to bonecollector777's topic in The Campfire
Any information on this "membership program" and the various levels it suggests? -
I was thrilled with the change. It took me a little work, but I was able to pick up last years model for a smoking price now that the new ones are out!
-
I also work near the airport and live in the southeast valley. I'd be happy help gather up any meat on my side of town.
-
Not sure why anyone would care about your family getting this tag? Congratulations on a successful hunt. You sound like a great brother to put so much time, energy, and expense in to helping him out.

I've got a turkey and a couple of elk roasts that were forgotten about in the back of the freezer for a couple of years. Probably still great for dogs. I live in Queen Creek, so its probably not worth the trip for just my stuff. But if you come this way to pick up some other stuff let me know. I don't have any plans to head towards the Payson area anytime soon or I'd bring it. If I do head that way anytime I'll let you know.

Anyone from CWT besides my son and I headed to the youth javelina camp down in 37b the weekend of the January 21-24? He (my son) has a tag for the hunt and, unfortunately for him, his dad is a horrible pig hunter. Flatlander has offered up some great tip information, but I was curious if anyone else might be there who would be interested in helping out a couple of javelina newbs. Full disclosure, we/I have attempted to hunt them a few times, but have yet to see a pig.

Probably wouldn't recommend getting your hopes up. I ordered them on Sunday when they were supposedly still in stock. Yesterday my order was placed on back order. This morning it was cancelled. No notification from Cabelas. I only found out because I looked up the order status. It really frustrates me how they do that.

Sorry about that. Didn't realize my box was full. Just cleared it out.

Congratulations! Awesome prize, I'm super jealous. -
This is the only way to go. I have Razor's now using their system. The day I put together the funds for my Swaros is the day I will be down at the Outdoorsmans having them install the stud.

Dual 300 RUM builds.
rossislider replied to CJ Long range's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Nice, be sure to post the final project! -
Great advice from Lance. I also have a Badger Thruster on my Sendero 300 RUM. It has tamed it to where my 11 year loves to shoot it with no hesitation. I've got a great gun smith in Chandler who can custom make or copy any type of brake you want. I'd tell him what your hoping to do, and I'm sure he can give you some great advice. Last guy I sent to him for a custom brake ended up spending a little over $200 if I am not mistaken. I'll double check.

Congratulations! I want to do this hunt. If anyone ever wants to put a group together, I'd be seriously interested.

Ruger American rifle
rossislider replied to Maverick351's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
My wife and son shoot a Tikka 7-08. It is a great caliber for them. She shot an antelope and he shot a elk with it this fall. One shot did the trick on both. -
NEW ARIZONA DEER ASSOCIATION RAFFLE !!!!! Winner posted !!!!!
rossislider replied to azelkhunter2's topic in The Campfire
I'm in! Pretty sure I could have built my custom rifle, bought my Swaros, or bought a few Canyon Coolers with what I've donated through these raffles. Oh well, I don't mind my money going to these fine organizations. One day I'll win one... -
For Snapshot and TRKHNTR. But I do hope they beat the seachickens tomorrow!
-
Good deal. You pay almost that much for just the brass.
-
I just reported it, as well as the rest of you.

Both great guns. I hate the xmark trigger that comes stock on the Sendero, so I swapped mine out for a Timney and love it. Here is a discussion about it from a couple of years ago. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/40541-sendero-stock-trigger-vs-timney-vs-shilen/
