I personally split the difference and went with the Swaro 12x50s and am able to use them for both hand hold as well as on the tripod. I haven't regretted my decision a bit and my aging legs don't have to carry 2 pairs. If I had to decide between Swaro 10s and the 15s, I'd go with the 15s. I'd probably follow that up with a pair of 10x42 Vortex Razors for closer range situations. The 10x42 Razors are great for the price and you would have the super premium Swaro glass for the long range stuff which is where you really need it.

All over this one! -
We had a rough start to our hunt with some pretty nasty wind followed up with snow. Couldn't seem to hear anything or get anything to respond to the call. But you can only slow a great turkey hunter down for so long. Master caller TRKHNTR has been coaching us turkey newbies and called in this beautiful gobbler early yesterday morning and another for a friend's son a little later in the day. I can't express how much we appreciated his help.

I was referred to a guy last year by fellow cwt member Addicted. I'd definitely fish with the guy again. I believe I have his info and will post it if I can find it.

We were up in unit 1. We did get into the camp there a few times over the weekend. The weather was pretty nasty for us as well. Couldn't hear anything and I doubt they could hear us calling either. We finally got a little break from the wind on Sunday and were able to get it done that morning. My son and I were able to make it to Ammon's (Little Creek Calls) seminar at Sportsmans Warehouse the week before the hunt. I also got some coaching from Ammon last year. He is a great guy. Sorry we missed you at the camp in 23. My son and his same friend drew the youth cow hunt up in unit 1 this October. We are much better and more experienced elk hunters than we are turkey, but might have to check out that camp anyway. They are always a great experience for the boys.

So sorry to hear about your friend. Amazing how these pups become such an important part of your life. My wife has been pushing me to add a sporting dog to our family for a while. After looking around for some time, I surprised her with a little female pup last night as an early birthday present. Hope she ends up being as good of a companion for us as your's has been for you.

We have been in the unit one youth turkey camp. The first couple of days were a lot of wind and snow. Didn't seem like calling was working for anyone. Today has been a different story....

Awesome! Congratulations!

Only a few more days till my buddy and I head up with our boys to the youth turkey camp in unit 1. The location was just officially announced this past week. Looks like it will be in the same place as last year. Who else is going up?

Email update on the Unit 1 camp I received this morning: Hello Everyone, I am letting you all know that the decision was made to move the Jr. Turkey camp location back to Forest Road (FR) 117 at Sheep Corral. It was decided that the site off FR 116 is too muddy and we will just end up tearing up that site. With the camp location move we are encouraging people to disperse camps down FR 117 C and further North west on FR 117. We want to minimize the amount of traffic at the actual camp site at the Sheep Corral as much as possible to minimize damage. The camp location will be closed to camping for all but those who are there to assist at camp with cooking and logistics. This will ensure that there is enough room for parking for those who are there for the class portion of camp as well as meal times. As of this evening the site at the Sheep Corral is in pretty good shape and should not be too muddy for those who are at camp for the different activities. I have attached a map of the camp site location for your reference. To get to the camp take Highway 260 east out of Pinetop. About three miles past the Sunrise turn off take Forest road 117 north about 1 mile to the camp. I have also attached an itinerary of the classes that we will be offering during the camp. Please let me know if you have any questions. I can be contacted via email or at the below phone number. Scott Pike Youth Outdoors Unlimited www.youthoutdoorsunlimited.com

Credit Card Charge Contest for Raffle Tickets
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in The Campfire
I assume you are referring to the summer draw for sheep, deer, etc? If so, I'm game for it. I didn't think there was any chance the cc hits would take as long as they did for elk or I would have pushed the contest dates out further. I should have known better. AZGFD does a fantastic job of consistently lowering our expectations for them. -
Seems like as good of a thing to do as any while the minutes tick by over the next week or so. As a prize, I'll buy the winner $20 worth of raffle tickets for any of the following raffles: An upcoming Arizona Deer Association Raffle An upcoming Arizona Elk Society Raffle $20 worth of tickets towards a raffle in the Arizona Big Game Super Raffle (http://www.arizonabiggamesuperraffle.com/index.html) Post your entry below. Here are the rules: Only one entry per person. Entries are limited to members with a profile created at the time this contest began. Sorry, you can't create multiple accounts to get multiple entries. Guesses are specific to the minute. Closest entry wins. If the correct time is in the exact middle of two entries, the person with the earlier time will be the winner. Only one person per minute time frame. First person to publicly post an entry time in this thread will get that time. No guesses will be accepted after 12:00 AM on 3/18. The winner will be determined by the time the first credit card hit is posted to this site WITH a screen shot of the credit card hit. We will know if it is legit as many more credit cards will be hit within moments of that post. Entries will be accepted for times through 3/31 and the contest will end at midnight on 3/31. If credit cards haven't started being hit by this date, there will probably be rioting in the streets and civilization as we know it will have ended. All times are in Arizona time (PST). Additional rules may be created in needed. I will keep this grid updated as often as possible. Click on the grid below to expand it.
