PointGuard, good idea or money making scam?

I only have two deer point, so it wasn't worth it. Now that I'm starting to get up in elk points, I probably will.

PointGuard, good idea or money making scam?

I'm still looking for someone with 15+ points who is holding out for the premium tags to combine with my 7 to help me get my bull tag next year! Haha...but seriously, anyone....

    ROC Most Wanted

I'll add one more thing to this from my own experience. Back when I was in the swimming pool construction business, I learned that the ROC also protects good contractors as well as consumers. In my 5 years in the business, my employer had probably a half dozen complaints filed against him. If I recall correctly all of them were judged to be invalid by the ROC. Unfortunately there are just as many bad customers as there are contractors. Definitely do your homework and check with the ROC, just be sure to you understand the difference between the complaints filed, ones judged valid, and the ones rejected by the ROC. The way the ROC works, anyone can file a ROC complain and many are for completely absurd reasons. The ROC meets with both parties at the site to make a judgement on the complaint according to industry standards. Unfortunately many consumers don't understand this and only see the number of filed complaints. Some consumers are wise to this and will threaten a contractor with a complaint to get something extra. Sort a like a frivolous lawsuit that is sometimes just easier to pay off and make it go away rather than go through the hassle and bad publicity of a trial. Many contractors (especially the big ones in the pool industry of 15 years ago) just considered paying these off a cost of business. The guys that are most effected are often the smaller businesses/contractors without the funds, and also at times, the integrity to do this. Anyhow, it isn't my intention to invalidate the concerns of those that have been jobbed by bad contractors. Sorry you all had to go through that. I've had my own experiences with the ROC from both sides. Just make sure you fully understand the ROC complaint process. If you do, it can save you a lot of frustration and headache.

    water to fill a trailer

We always stop to fill up at the Hondah Casino just past Pine Top. They have a fill up and dump station right out in front of the trailer park with lots of room to maneuver. If I recall correctly, water is free. It is $5 to dump, but worth it not to have to haul the black tank contents.

So I have never needed a tripod

I'll suggest 3 different tripods. I've personally used all three and highly recommend each. Each is in a different price range and each will support the triclawps. All three are right around 3 pounds without a head. Anything lighter and you will really start to notice it with a rifle on there. Vanguard Alta+ 264AO (approx $180 with fluid like head included). This was my first quality tripod. It is substantial enough to hold a good amount of weight and can serve many purposes. I primary used it for glassing with an Outdoorsmans setup. My son shot a mule buck with it off of a Claw setup (the predecessor to the triclawps). He used my Sendero 300 RUM, which is a pretty heavy rifle, to hammer him at 330 yards for a 1 shot kill. On the same hunt I used the tripod Claw setup to shoot my buck at 550 yards with my Tikka 7mm Mag that weighs about half the Sendero. Slik 723CF (Approx $250 head not included). This is an awesome lightweight yet very strong and sturdy carbon fiber tripod that is very cost friendly compared to a lot of carbon fiber setups. I have and prefer the twist open leg version. I believe this model may have been replaced by a non twist version. I have this paired up with a Manfrotto 700RC2 head (approx $90). It is a great lightweight fluid head that is very smooth and also works great with a Triclawps setup. This is my backup tripod that my son and wife now use. Outdoorsmans tall tripod with centerpoint extension (approx $600 without head). This is a lightweight premium high quality tripod made locally here in Arizona. It will do anything you want to do. It is pretty awesome, but comes with a high price tag. I personally probably wouldn't have bought it had I not gotten such a great deal through an auction. While it is the best of the three, I'm not sure it is 2-3 times better than the Slik tripod at 2-3 times less the price. That said, it will probably last me forever and Outdoorsmans service is second to none. I also use the Manfrotto 700rc2 head with this tripod. I am 6'4" tall and all three of these setups will work for me sitting or standing. The outdoorsman's tripod would be a couple of inches short without the extension. If you get a tripod, and you should, I highly recommend getting the Outdoorsmans bino adapter setup and start using it for glassing. It will change the way you hunt and you will start seeing animals you never knew were there. Good luck on the hunt!

    36A/B deer camp dates?

Congrats, you should have a great hunt with your boy. They usually list most, if not all, of these in the regs. See pages 24-28 of the current regs for all of the listed upcoming camps through next April.
