    Looking for a Guide

It could be very intimidating for someone who has never hunted before, didn't grow up in a hunting culture, and is just looking to get some help getting started.

Time to consolidate some cases I have collected over the years. The first case is a Cabela's aluminum double rifle case. I believe it was from their "Bullet Proof" series (no longer in production). These are 4 different foam inserts inside (as shown in the picture below. None of then have been cut. The interior dimensions are 51"x13". There are no dents or dings in the case, despite TSA trying their best. Only a few light scratches/rubs (see picture below). Otherwise, in perfect working condition. Asking $80 OBO. The second is the Plano Pro Max Double Scoped Rifle Case. https://www.amazon.com/Plano-Double-Scoped-Rifle-Case/dp/B000P583SQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1472339554&sr=1-2&keywords=plano+double+rifle+case A little plastic cross piece broke off one of the buckles (see high light in the red box below where the bar should be compared to the one next to it.) I'm guessing you could replace the buckle for under a dollar, but I could still lash it using the outside of the buckle so never bothered. Otherwise, in perfect shape. Inside dimensions are 52.25x16.25. Asking $50 OBO Located in Queen Creek on weekends and evenings. Weekdays in Tempe.

    What Boot Covers?

Some interesting suggestions on this podcast including neoprene type surfing boots. Very cool story!
  15. rossislider

    Why?

I wonder if he is thinking that if he lets you go by you will get his deer up ahead that is waiting by the road? I sure as he!! would not have let him shoot one in front of me after making me follow behind him for almost an hour. Double edge sword... A lot of guys are calm, patient, and forgiving. Not my strong suits when dealing with a$$holes.

Under Armour pisses off hunting community

Doubt they will cut ties with the Robertsons of Duck Commander/Duck Dynasty fame. Seems a bit hypocritical after they stuck by Phil over his comments about homosexuality a few years ago...

Under Armour pisses off hunting community

The type of thing that happens when a non-hunting business decides tries to make money off of a demographic they don't belong to or understand. I didn't own anything Under Armour prior to this because they make a average to low quality product (equivalent to what you would buy at Walmart) and sell it at a premium price because of their logo. I don't think it works as well in the hunting community because anymore you have several high quality products/companies in the same price point from hunting companies. I certainly wouldn't buy any now!

If and when do you lower your standards?

I think it depends on the hunt/unit/tag. How premium is the tag? I have always let my son decide on whether to shoot or pass, and I have always been proud of the choices he has made. He asks my opinion but he has always made he call. Either way it is always a valuable lesson. If they are really young, I would lean toward encouraging them to shoot the first legal animal, they will likely get lots more opportunity and there will be plenty of time to get selective as they get older. I hate for kids to eat tag soup.

    Razor HD Spotter 27-60x85

Just picked up the same model from Muley Crazy and got to take it out this past weekend. Love it and am VERY happy with it. Vortex haters will say it isn't as good as Swaro. Of course it isn't! But it is 1/3 the price and an awesome spotter for someone who can't or won't spend $5000 on one.

    3 for 3

    Awesome hunt. Congratulations!
  21. rossislider

    Why?

My biggest annoyance from the weekend was trying to get to a glassing spot just as it was getting light, but being stuck behind a road hunter going 10 mph. No matter what I did, he was not going to pull over and let me pass. This went on for about 10 miles.

The Power of a New String

Good suggestions. Mine are a few years old and probably in similar shape. I'm going to buy my next bow (hopefully when I draw a bull tag next year ) from Timber Mesa where they do free string replacements every 2 years.
  23. Just want to get the word out about a great company. I was getting ready tonight to head out tomorrow to help a buddy scout for an upcoming hunt. The picture below is not what you want to have happen to your Phone Skope when putting on your new adapter as you pack up to head out! Posted about it on Instagram well after businesses hours and in no time had the CEO of Phone Skope reaching out to me to help me out. He helped me figure out a temporary fix and went above and well beyond what he needed to do to make it right. Talk about customer service! If you are at all interested in digitscoping, I highly recommend checking them out.

Replacing a Lost OTC Lion Tag

I've looked high and low but can't find my over the counter 2016 lion tag. If it were a draw tag, I'd go to AZGFD for a reprint. But since it is OTC I'm not sure they do reprints, or if I just buy a new one? If I buy a new one could I run into issues since there is a limit of 1 lion per year and I'd technically have two tags in my name? I'm not specifically going lion hunting, but am headed to the hills and would hate for the one time I come across one to be the one time I didn't have the tag.
