How many pieces of 556 do you have? What is the condition/status, cleaned, deprimed, etc?

Backcountry Hunters & Anglers April Pint Night
rossislider replied to AmericanThunder's topic in Conservation Group Events
Eventually I'm going to make it out to one of these. -
Hey Tom, I'm already committed to a Boy Scouts fundraiser that weekend, you wouldn't want my help on a turkey hunt anyway. But I've got you covered on the sleeping bag if you still need one. Let me know if a 0 degree bag that measures 90"x36" will work and I will get it to you. Sean

Female Bobcat ready for taxidermy FOR SALE
rossislider replied to couesaholic65's topic in Classified Ads
Here is the word for word response I received: "By letter of the law no. A motor vehicle isn't a lawful method of take. We do allow individuals who find old (sun bleached with no meat or flesh) carcasses to keep them so there is some grey area for sure."- 45 replies

Female Bobcat ready for taxidermy FOR SALE
rossislider replied to couesaholic65's topic in Classified Ads
Nothing against picking up roadkill in az.Actually, I spoke with an AZGFD warden just yesterday about picking up a small game road kill (nothing to do with this post). The answer was, while there is a bit of gray area, no it is not legal to pick up since it is "not a legal method of take".- 45 replies

I'm bad at this game with goats, but I'll guess low 80s,

On a related note, anyone know the going rate per sf for concrete these days? I'd like to put a pad up the side of my house eventually.
-
Not for me. I don't care to look through the spotter for extended periods. I primarily use the spotter to verify or to digiscope.
-
I carry 12x50s in my harness for brief hand holding and on the tripod. The 85 spotter comes out of the pack if I need to get a closer up look at anything.

Awesome! Can't wait to hear more.

28 Nosler 30 Nosler 33 Nosler
rossislider replied to Zeke-BE's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm very interested in building a 28 Nosler. It would be like combining the ballistics of a 7mm with the power of my 300 RUM. I know the 7mm RUM already exists, but it seems to add another option. I know new site sponsor Axis Works has built 28 Noslers for some friends. You might give Eric at Axis Works a call. -
This past elk and antelope draw couldn't have gone much smoother. Hope they don't tinker too much.

Maybe we should schedule a Saturday early morning out our way at the base of some mountain range like the San Tans where everyone interested brings their optics and we line them all up side by side and give everyone who comes a chance to look through them and see what they think. Could be a fun little CWT get together. So who's going to make this happen? Adam (Big Browns) and I talked about making it happen this weekend. Unfortunately we ran into issues/commitments with both Saturday and Sunday (Easter weekend) that we weren't able to work out. We were hoping for the weekend because turkey hunts will start the following and by the time those wrap up, it will probably be 110 degrees at 5:00 AM. We'll see if we can figure something out before it turns into a furnace. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a good times despite a tough hunt. Congrats on the jake.

I like it a lot. Unfortunately, I have never had anything other than my binos to set it up side by side with to get a comparison. Previous to this I had the Vortex Viper 65 and it certainly blows that away. I am very happy with it and would probably would only consider upgrading to a Swaro spotter. But since I can't justify $4000-$6000, I don't see that happening.

We need to go out and compare these some upcoming weekend. I have the new Vortex Razor 85 and would like to see how it compares side by side to some of these others in the actual outdoors. Maybe we should schedule a Saturday early morning out our way at the base of some mountain range like the San Tans where everyone interested brings their optics and we line them all up side by side and give everyone who comes a chance to look through them and see what they think. Could be a fun little CWT get together.

Please welcome AxisWorks LLC as our newest sponsor!
rossislider replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Sponsor Spotlight
AWESOME!!! If you are in the valley, or anywhere for that matter, Eric should be your guy for all you gunsmith needs. He has helped me out and built amazing rifles for several friends. Glad to have such a great guy and gunsmith as a sponsor! -
I have a single axel similar to this but in 14 feet. I have had my Ranger crew on it with an additional few hundred pounds of gear. I've done many treks up to the White Mountains with that load without issue.

Call and talk to Cody at the Outdoorsmans. IMO stick with ELs unless you needs 15s.

Not at this time. Thanks -
I thought Id post an update to my sons skull cleaning business he is working to get started as well as thank many on this site for their help. It has been about 3-4 weeks since he decided to start this little adventure. We have learned a lot together not only about technique, but about the business and legal aspects of him doing this thanks to the coaching and guidance of several members here. He just finished up his 12th javelina skull last night and really seems to have gotten the technical aspects down pretty good and the skulls are coming out great. In addition to coaching, several members here have donated supplies, trusted him with their trophies, and have even tipped him a little for his time. Thank you, it has all gone to good use. We found that that he does need to have a taxidermy license before he can charge for these services, but that a 12 year old can in fact get a taxidermy license for the $150 per year fee. He will also have to keep and submit quarterly reports just like a regular taxidermist. A neighbor/friend who is a warden out of the Mesa AZGFD office is helping him with the paperwork, and he is getting close to the $150 he needs to make it official. For anyone interested in following him along on this little adventure, check out his page on Instagram at gr8hunterskullz.He posts pictures and likes to do Instagram Live videos when he works. He is only 12, so be nice, and keep in mind that mom and dad watch his page very closely. As he is still unlicensed and not charging as he continue to gain experience and finalize the licensing, so if you have a skull you would like to have him work on for you, feel free to shoot me a message. Here are the latest pictures and skulls:

Thank you. That is extremely nice of you. I think we are good on propane tanks for now thanks to AzDiamondHeat. Draysen (my son) just finished up a 6x6 bull this weekend for a member on here had started but asked him to finish for him. We are also finishing up some work on another 6 javelinas, a few Coues bucks and an Aoudad. Will post up some pictures soon.
