Kifaru vs Stone Glacier packs... Which One??
rossislider replied to Coues Archer's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Okay, I just watched the video again on the Kifaru website. I see what you are saying. Curse you! I thought I had finally made up my mind.Still need a picture or did you see it good from the video? No picture needed. But I do have another question for you. Have you looked at the Fulcrum? How do you think it compares to the Reckoning? Thanks -

Are you sure? They look like it to me? If not, it may sway me back the other way. -
Kifaru vs Stone Glacier packs... Which One??
rossislider replied to Coues Archer's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I plan to get a Kifaru in the near future. I have been debating between the Reckoning and the Fulcrum. I am pretty sure I will end up with the Fulcrum over the Reckoning because: The way the center cinches down without compressing the side pockets make it great for converting to a day pack. To do this with the Reckoning would require buying additional spotting scope pockets. The weight difference is only about a half a pound. But I seem to change my mind daily, so who knows. Please let me know why you are leaning toward the Reckoning? -

Just these ones in the link below. I probably should have specified cow elk quarters. Probably wouldn't fit a big bull unless it was boned out. You could buy blocks of ice if you don't have any 2 liter soda bottles, or will be out for a while and the bottles get too melted. But you have to be careful of the melting ice. We've used this method (2 liter bottles) with my son's cow elk each season for the past two years, and also brought 2 antelope bucks with capes home in one cooler from Wyoming a couple of years ago. Worked great each time. Just rotate the meat every so often. Costco usually has them every spring, but I think you can find them most everywhere. https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/Igloo-49144-MaxCold-Cooler%2C-165-qt.product.100191077.html

As other have said, Millers in Forest Lake is probably your best bet and they are just a couple of miles out of the unit. Not the answer you were looking for, but since I started doing my own meat a few years ago, I started taking oversized Igloo coolers and lining the bottom with frozen 2 liter soda bottles with a few extra for on top of the meat. It has worked great for cooling the meat and doesn't get it wet as the ice melts. I can get right around four elk quarters in one cooler.

With it being primarily pigs, sheep, and goats as opposed to the typical ungulates that are associated with "high fence" hunting, I can't imagine it will draw too much negative attention.

I know this isn't necessarily what you asked for, but I picked up one of these, primarily for my wife and daughter as a restroom/shower while camping. Anything that makes their camping experience a little more comfortable and enjoyable gets me in the woods more and for longer. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-Trail-2-Room-Non-Instant-Shower-Tent/55260501?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222228079657650&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=192108591480&wl4=aud-310687321802:pla-303834941958&wl5=9053836&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=55260501&wl13=&veh=sem

Camo Donation Drive at Bass Pro Tuesday, Aug. 29!!!
rossislider replied to Lv2hnt's topic in The Campfire
Additionally, let me know if you have something to donate, but can't make it to Bass Pro today. My office is just a couple of miles from Bass Pro. I would be happy to collect items any weekday and my office (or home in Queen Creek) and I will make sure that it all gets to Tom. -
Camo Donation Drive at Bass Pro Tuesday, Aug. 29!!!
rossislider replied to Lv2hnt's topic in The Campfire
Hey guys, just wanted to bring this back to the top. Tom (Lv2hnt) is down at Bass Pro now taking your camo, clothing, and gear donations for our vets. This is a fantastic cause! All the camo, clothes, and gear will be used by our vets who may not have, but need these items on their hunts. Your donations will continue to grow the Hunts for Heroes closet, and will be reused many times over. Nothing goes to the volunteers, vets only. If you have some stuff you have been thinking of selling, why not donate it to our vets? Tom can also provide you with a receipt for your donation. -
Two New Rifle Upgrades Coming Soon To An Addict Near You...

Hey Eric, can you work something like this out for us? -
This isn't a bad idea. My wife has an industrial sewing machine for commercial welding pad business. I need to see if I can find some of this high end material and see what she could make these bags for.

I really need to stop looking at these AxisWorks posts. They are going to get me in A LOT of trouble! -
Dang, this is a deal. Surprised someone hasn't snatched it up. I would but just don't have the need.

WOW!!! Congrats to the hunter!

I'll be making quite a few trips up to the Heber/Overguard area over the next few months for scouting and hunts. I got to thinking that rather than hauling my Ranger Crew back and forth from the valley multiple times, it might be a lot easier to take it up and find a place in the area to store it and the trailer until the season is over. I am not sure if I will save much once you figure gas savings vs storage cost, it may cost more to store. But it would make it a lot easier to not have to load and unload the Ranger, trailer, etc. every trip, not to mention everything that goes along with towing a trailer back and forth. Anyone done anything like this before and or know of any good places? Is it worth the storage costs? Also, I highly prefer to keep it stored indoors out of the weather. Thanks

Thanks guys! I appreciate the offers. I really hate to put you and your families out by having my stuff stashed in your yards for a few months. I'm going to look into it a bit more and may get back with you.

I throw mine in a 5 gallon bucket of water with a scoop of laundry soap, swirl, and let soak for a day. Shake off the bits of meat, ring out, and then throw into the washing machine. They might come out just as clean without the pre-wash soak. But I know my wife appreciates the extra effort to keep as much meat, hair, and blood as possible out of her washer. Makes her a little more tolerant of all my other hunting related messes.

Great buck! Congratulations.

Try 210 grain Bergers. Even 300 RUM I have shot them through loves them. I shoot the 210 Bergers with 91 grains of Retumbo. Shoots under 1/2 MOA.

Hey Houston, what are your thoughts on these Crispi boot for ankle support? Do you feel you get pretty good support with an 8 inch versus a 10 inch?

When I click on that link it says "usually ships in 1 - 2 MONTHS". Typo? Yikes! Seems odd to me. Maybe super popular right now?
