My wife will be chasing rutting bulls, and I'll be living vicariously through her (as is usually the case these days).

If it happens today, and I think it will, I estimate we will first hear from someone between 7:30-7:45.

Yeah I may be in a bit of trouble now. My boss is a vegetarian and until now was completely oblivious about anything relating to hunting. HOWEVER, she just got engaged to a guy that is a big time hunter, guide, etc. On the positive side, I finally have something to relate to her about. On the negative, she might be keeping a closer watch on productivity in the morning.

I think he is just folding under the pressure. -
While I agree with their sentiment about what makes a hunt successful, I am a little perplexed and annoyed that they felt the need to take the time to discuss and redefine this. I'd think they would have better things to spend their time on, but I guess we live in a PC world where all that really seems to matter is EVERYONE'S feelings.

Yeah, I would assume there must have been a big parenting failure somewhere leading up to this for it to have escalated to that point. -
New AZGF rule (proposed, which means it’s a done deal) about game cameras:
rossislider replied to bowsniper's topic in The Campfire
So if a non hunter put a camera out just to see wildlife it would give the ok for g&f to steal their camera? You wouldn't think so, but who knows how AZGFD has in mind to manage this mess. -

It will probably be more of a camera confiscation thing as opposed to convictions. AZGFD starts yanking cams at water holes and people will stop putting them up. They aren't cheap. Selling confiscated cameras could also be another nice little source of AZGFD income. -

When it is all said and done, that satellite deal will be adjusted to read "live" satellite images. The Google Earth thing is not realistic, enforceable, and is probably an oversight. -

Yes, they define that earlier in the document. -
I have found that fillet knives work the best for me. I previously used some of the cheaper ones, but the light thin metal of the cheaper ones require lots of sharpening and didn't have the heaviness to cut through a thick quarter. A few years ago bought a Knives of Alaska Coho fillet knife (about $70) for a fishing trip up north. That thing has been THE BEST processing knife I have ever used. It uses a harder heavier steel (440C Stainless) than most fillet knives and holds an edge for much longer than anything else I have used. The heavier weight and solid feel in the hand helps a lot. I can usually process a whole elk without a resharpen. The only issue I have run into with it is that when processing animals with my buddies, they are constantly trying to steal it from me when I am not paying attention. Most of them have since bought one. Last summer I took my kids up to the White Mountains fishing and we got into some nice sized trout I wanted to fillet them for the smoker, but left the fillet knife at home. So I went into Sportsman's in Show Low and picked up the Coho's little brother, the Steelheader ($55). It is slightly smaller than the Coho but I may like it even better. You can't go wring with either and I love having both as my wife helps a lot with the processing, and like my buddies, tends to steal my knife when I am not looking. https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Knives-of-Alaska-Coho-Fillet-Knife/productDetail/Fillet-Knives-and-Processing/prod9999000095/cat101133 https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Knives-of-Alaska-Steelheader/productDetail/Fillet-Knives-and-Processing/prod9999000096/cat101133

Congratulations! Took my wife out in 33 for her first javelina hunt. We struck out. The wind picked up around 1:00 and was ridiculous!

The Coues Dissappearing Act
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Yeah, I got chastised by my wife after watching him for an hour and was told I had to look for pigs. He was running with a couple of smaller 3x3s but they split up. -
To each their own I guess. I love the outdoors and just about everything related to it. I really get into the excitement and anticipation of the draw like I used to get excited about the coming of Christmas morning as a kid. I fully admit and wear the crown of nerd/dork when it comes to draw data, stats, etc. Every draw cycle I pull out and update my draw Excel spreadsheet for myself and family members and inevitably change and tweak it multiple times as the deadline gets closer and closer. Nothing wrong with finding simple little things in life to find exciting and geek out over. But just for the record, I think Arizona has a pretty dang good draw system, not perfect, but pretty good.

Thanks, now it is his mom's turn. We will be trying to get her first this weekend. I have a tag as well, but mine doesn't get filled until after her's. I wouldn't mind another double. I'll have Draysen with us in the binos while I am ready on the second rifle. As soon as he says she has one down, I'll be ready.

This happens if you applied with a different email address/information than the one registered to your account. It isn't a problem and won't cause issues with your application, but your results might not be posted to your portal early (usually a day or two) with everyone else's who has a portal since your info does not match up. You might be able to go in and update it, but not a big deal to get concerned about.

Just got the reminder email (below). Looks like they are sticking with the 3/1 deadline. The update credit card page has also been fixed/updated with the correct date.

What Set-up for Triclawps?
rossislider replied to azsugarbear's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I might be wrong and probably am, but if memory serves, Wht_mtman uses a Manfrotto MVH502AH. Solid head, but it is pretty big. About the size of a softball. -
I like to kid TRKHNTR. He deserves it! But unless I am mistaken, that is the world record ocellated turkey there.
