    Friends Archery Bull elk down

Draysen has been teaching himself how to measure and score using Youtube and decided Kyle's bull would be a good one to practice on. So it is far from an official score, but that is what he came up with. The long 3rds helped and his back ends are better than a lot of the drought bulls we have seen.

    Where to get euro mount

Thanks Brian, it was great meeting you today and picking up that antelope for my son. Because of homework and shrinking daylight, we usually discourage him from cleaning skulls on school nights. But he had a light homework day and had all his equipment set up and ready to when I pulled into the driveway, so he got a good jump on it tonight. It still needs drying time and finishing work, but it is looking fantastic. Congratulations on a beautiful buck.

    Whats up with the PMs?

Been having the same problem with PMs. Some sent me a message a few days ago about a job for my son and I never got it. Fortunately he was able to find me another way.

Hi guys, thanks for the support for Draysen. I'm sorry, Sorry, I don't know what is going on with the PMs, but my box is empty. Feel free to shoot Draysen or me a message or text. Thanks Draysen - 480-798-7643 Sean - 602-524-2973

    Swarovski EL 12x50

Are you looking to use them primarily as a hand hold bino or do you plan to mount to a tripod? My 12x50 ELs are used 95% of the time on the tripod, but I have no problem getting to the top of a ridge and doing a quick 3-5 minute scan job by hand. That said, I would not use 12x50's for more than brief periods without a tripod, but that hold true for any of my binos. You will maximize any bino efficiency (magnification or brand) when they are on a tripod. If you don't plan to use a tripod, I recommend stay at or under 10 power. The hand shake is what matters and makes it hard to pick up on animal movement. Their isn't a brand out the that can remove hand shake, which is amplified as you go up in magnification.
  10. Canyon Point Campground between the Woods Canyon turnoff and Forest Lakes has showers. I imagine you could shower there. I'd call to verify. Some of those campgrounds will allow non-campers to use them for free or for a few dollars. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/asnf/recreation/camping-cabins/recarea/?recid=44631&actid=29

    Point guard vs tag donation.

It can be used once again after you have cashed in your points. Example- If you bought point guard this year and turn your tag in, you will get your points back. Next time you draw, you must keep the tag. The following year, you will once again be eligible for point guard.

    Swaro 12x50 or 15x56HD?

LOL. Sounds like something I would do. Glad it didn't happen with my single most expensive (non-motorized) piece of gear.

    Swaro 12x50 or 15x56HD?

I also use the 12x50s and really like them. I haven't ever used the 15x56s, but am sure they are also great. I chose the 12x50s because I don't want to carry two pairs and I can hand hold the 12x50s for brief periods. The glass is also slightly better on the EL series than the SLC.

    U of A / ASU Football

That ASU game was fun to watch. Redman, you are right on about Wilkins issue with sailing so many passes last night. Had he been a little more accurate, the game might not have been so close. I found it interesting how he was all over his receivers when he didn't like their routes or felt they made a bad play. Oh well, it made for a great game. The defense was impressive. Can't remember the last time I could say that. I wasn't expecting much from my devils this season, but maybe they can compete in the PAC 12 and make it a great season.

    Quick Limit

By the time we got to the spot tonight, we only had about 45 minutes of legal shooting time left. But each boy got at least 2 birds. So I'd call it a success.

    This new forum layout

I've been trying to get on board with it, but I'm also not a big fan of the changes. Like ThomC said, I especially hate the new mobile version! I find myself going to the website less when my desktop isn't handy.

    Quick Limit

I'm taking a group of older boy scouts out this evening. We took them out last week to practice on some clay pigeons. We will have a few first timers in the group, so it ought to be good times. Hopefully we find a few birds.

    D.BACKS BASEBALL

I've been watching them all season, catching the better part of their game. But it is starting to get tough and aggravating to watch. If I don't see something to motivate me this week, I'm going to find something better to do with my time.

    2018 Dove

Draysen knocked about 50 out of the sky. Adam was nice enough to let Draysen clean a bunch of his birds. You could tell he was thrilled.

    Springfield Armory xds45

I have an XDS 45 and love it. It is a lot easier on the hand to shoot than you might think. Aldo a great field carry if you want a sidearm without a lot of weight. I just got the new AGC holster to attach to my bino harness and love it. I was worried the weight would throw the bino harness off balance, but it doesn't at all and the gun weight pretty much dissapears.

    CableOne/Sling

Check into Youtube TV. I have been using it for over a year since I cut ties with Dish Network. It gets me pretty much all the channels I want (including D-backs games on Fox Sport Arizona, and I pay $37 a month with taxes.

    Great Hunter Skullz Update

Hey CWT Community, I have had three different members reach out to me this week asking if my son is still in the skull cleaning business. The answer is yes, very much so. Thanks to many of you, business over the past year and a half has been great for him. He has been learning countless lessons and has made a good chunk of change in the process. For any members on here who aren’t aware, my 13 year old son got his taxidermy license a year and a half ago, and started his own Euro business. Word of mouth advertising alone has kept him really busy, with work coming in almost weekly, even through the “off” (or so we thought) season. Last year he got so busy during peak season that he struggled to keep up in the time frames he tries to keep, even with my help and working both evenings and weekends. To help with the load this season he has asked me to help clearly define the services he will and will not be offering. He also purchased a second set of equipment, so his free labor pool (me) can help him work through the busy season. I know I am already pushing the sponsorship lines here on CWT. So I try not to comment too often about his business (sorry Amanda), but wanted to provide you all with his most up to date FAQs. Following his page on Facebook or Instagram is pretty much the best way to keep up with his business. There are numerous pictures posted on these pages. Thanks and good luck this season!
  23. To preface this, for those of you who might not know, my almost 13 year old son, Draysen, got licensed as a taxidermist this past spring through AZGFD and started a skull cleaning business. The members of CWT have been extremely supportive as he got started by donating equipment, sharing tips, and trusting him with their trophies. Since March he has cleaned in the neighborhood of 100 skulls with the help of a little free labor from dad. It has turned into quite the venture for him This past weekend I was contacted by CWT member Smith2260 about having Draysen clean a bear skull for him from his weekend hunt. While working on it this evening, my son and I talked about sharing the step by step process with you all. Smith 2260 was kind enough to allow us to use his pictures and share the updates, so here goes. I will continue to update this post over the next week or two as we continue the work on the skull. The hide had been removed prior to receiving the skull, so Draysen's first step was was to separate the jaw and remove as much excess flesh as possible in preparation for simmering. Simmered in a pot of water and detergent on low heat for about 30 minutes. After removing it from the pot he used a pressure washer to remove all remaining flesh, brain matter, etc. At this point in needs to soak in the whitener for at least a week to whiten and slowly draw out the grease from the skull. More to come... *Update 8/22/17* We are exactly one week in now, and pulled the bear from the degreasing/whitening agent. It is coming out fantastic! You will notice that most of the smaller teeth from the top front jaw have been pulled. The smaller ones from the bottom jaw are equally loose, but we left them in for the picture. Most of the big teeth have become loose as well. This happens as the peroxide "disolves" the tissue down in the small spaces down by the roots. One of the final completion steps will be to glue them back in. For now, he has gone to a second step in the degreasing to remove some more of that deep embedded grease from the skull. After a few days of this, he will let to skull dry to see if any grease starts to appear and will go from there. *Updated 9/5/17* After the previous pictures, he had to go back in the degreaser for a while. He is now finished up, has a sealer coat and is ready to go home.

    OUT OF THE PARK

I mean no disrespect to the man and hero that was John McCain. But as a politician I found him lacking and believe that Trump has already accomplished more in his first two years in Washington than McCain did in his 30.
