    Spearfishing in Rocky Point???

Years ago when I was a teenager my family used to make a couple of trips a year down to Rocky Point. One of my favorite things to do while there was to wade and snorkel through the shallow water around the beach where we stayed (Playa Bonita) and spear fish for small fish and sting rays with my Hawaiian sling. In my grown up years I haven't been able to go nearly as often, mostly because my wife is petrified of going into Mexico. When we last went, 10 years ago, I was unable to find any fish or sting rays and the water was really cloudy. Well, after lots of begging and pleading, I have convinced my wife to take a trip down there with our children in the very near future. My question is: Are the beaches of Rocky Point still good for spear fishing? I don't know if my last experience, 10 years ago, was a one off or perhaps a result of the increased tourist population in Rocky Point. I'm thinking about picking up a Hawaiian sling and teaching my son, but don't want to waste the money if the fish aren't there. Thanks

    Unit 1 early archery

Early rifle vs archery is a very differnt beast. But with 22, you should have been right on the line. I bet you would draw most any early rifle bull hunt next year.

    Unit 1 early archery

That surprises me. Something sounds off. If PCPython's dad drew tag #10, he was definitely in the max point pass and he claims to have had 17 points. What choice number was unit 1, was it archery, and was he on the application by himself?

    Unit 1 early archery

Last year (2018) it looks like it took 16 points for a non-resident to draw in the bonus pass. On a good moisture year, and with so many tags returned this past year, I wouldn't be surprised if it took 17-18 this year.

    UofA seriously?

    Flooring installation question

You will be glad you ripped it out. It is a lot of messy work and your house will be under an inch of dust, but worth it when it is done. We rented one of these from Home Depot to tear up about 1800 SF of tile and thinset. It took me the better part of the entire 24 hour rental and my arms and back were feeling it for days, but worth it in the end. https://www.homedepot.com/tool-truck-rental/27-LB-Demolition-Hammer/HM1214C/index.html

    30 Nosler Info

I'll add one more thing since you asked about a rifle for your wife in a different post. Put a brake on any of these calibers mentioned and your wife will be fine. My son has been shooting our 300 RUM with a brake since he was 10 years old. Zero issues for him and has less felt recoil than our .243.

    Non-belted is a huge plus.

    30 Nosler Info

I'd go 28 Nosler. I REALLY like the ballistics of the 28 Nosler even though I too have a great shooting 7mm Rem Mag. I also have a fantastic 300 RUM which is the primary workhorse for both me and my son. It I were to do it over again, I's still get another 300 RUM before I got a 30 Nosler. They really aren't that different (300 RUM and 30 Nosler), and you will find ammo and/or bullet components (I load my own) more readily available for the RUM, With the RUM, you can get a pretty great shooter without going custom, much harder to do with the 30 Nosler. Lastly, since increased power seems to be your primary reasoning, the 300 RUM would win again. Both great calibers, just my two cents worth.

    Rifle for my wife

I went with a Tikka in 7-08 several years ago for my wife and daughter. I put a brake on it for them and it has been a fantastic rifle. Most recently my petite 10 year old daughter put the hurt on a pig with it this past January from a long way out. We have used it for cow elk, antelope, and javelina. Great rifle for them. I highly recommend a brake for the ladies and kids on pretty much anything larger than .223 if it will be used by smaller hunters.

    12 points...now what?

Also, with 12 points you will likely be guaranteed 3A3C or 1 archery next year. We don't have the date for this most recent draw yet, but last year 12 would have guaranteed an archery tag in either 1 or 3A3C. 11 would have given you about 50/50 odds of getting either in the max pool.

    12 points...now what?

I'll rub a little salt in the wound. I drew 3A3C early rifle this year with 9 points. My son drew 3A3C archery with 4 points. I've personally never had much luck with the draw outside of having max points. Guess I was due.

    12 points...now what?

I also talked to a guy that claimed to have drawn 3A3C early rifle this year with 26 points. But I think he may be mistaken on his point total, or has just been buying points until this year, because in 2018 24 got you any elk tag in the state, resident or non-resident.

    Wyoming Guided hunt advice?

^^^This was also my experience in Wyoming. Not so much a matter of finding one, but deciding which one of the 1000 you will see that you want to shoot.

    sxs windshield recommendations

I like the half windshield. It does a pretty good job of deflecting most of the wind out of your face. My buddy has a full windshield. While is does deflect more wind, it gets crazy dusty in his compared to mine. The dust just seems to hang in there. That high breeze that blows through the half windshield does a pretty good job of blowing the dust out. If you plan to drove a lot in weather (rain) the full windshield probably does better. I wear goggles in either, so it doesn't matter much.

    Results are posted!!!

I had 9 and my son had 4. I am not lucky in the draw (till now) so I was shocked. My son, on the other hand, has ridiculous luck. The hunting gods love him. Should be a pretty great 3 weeks. I doubt work will allow me to do all three weeks, but I will figure out a way to finagle my time off to get as much time up there as possible.

I have the 3A3C early rifle bull hunt, before the archery hunters. My son is one of said 3A3C archery bull hunters!

    Elk Draw Progress

Well, I don't know of I would say you are "screwed" especially since your group does appear to have drawn a tag. The elk draw is tough. I don't think people fully appreciate it and the volume of people who apply. It took me a lot of years of patience to get the tag I have this year. But to answer your question. At this point it is HIGHLY unlikely you will see more tags. I think it is probably over at this point and think we will see final results posted in the next couple of business days. Maybe even today.

    Hunt Party Rules

Actually, I spoke to soon. I still think odds are on your second choice, but your 4th choice may be a possibility. I would have to look at numbers for past years and I don't have them in front of me.

    CC Hit

We had another $135 charge show up around 4:30 PM today. I was charged $135 on a different card on Friday. Two tags for my clan, it is going to be a great year!
