Any idea what he charges to take care of swapping out the plug? -
Best archery shop in the valley. Never had anything but above and beyond service there.

Is the Levi you mentioned with Arrowhead rifles as well or are you referring to someone else? -
Going to try to get out to this with my son and wife. Advance sign up necessary?

Much more of a whitetail unit. I don't see a lot of mule deer in there, but I also usually hunt a little higher. So hunt low.

I'll second The House for a really good burger. A lot of people will hate me for this, Darbi's is good, but WAY overrated. Los Corrales is also good.

I'd check out the new B.5 Mavens. The reviews are really good. I am looking forward to trying them.

Nothing new, I have been hearing this for many years.

They raised prices this year on everything at the shoot DRAMATICALLY. I know a lot of vendors and participants are boycotting as a direct response the the huge price hike.

I know the First Lite Sawbuck pants are just now coming out, but if anyone has a chance to compare them to Kuiu Katana pants first hand, please share your thoughts. I am less concerned about camo patterns and brand preferences than I am about their ability to hold up in our jagged, sharp, prickly southern Arizona terrain. It is my understanding that both were designed with out type or environment in mind. Both appear pretty versatile and light weight with the Sawbucks being a few ounces heavier (which I consider negligible in pants if the overall function is better). I have also heard the Kutana pants run small. Thanks

Good Morning CWT Community, Many of you know my 14 year old son Draysen. He is a good, smart, and hard working kid that got some news yesterday that has him understandably pretty concerned about his archery bull elk hunt this fall, and we could use some advice. This past spring he injured his wrist while tripping over a hurdle during track practice (dad brag, he broke the middle school state record for hurdles at the state finals this past May). At the time, the urgent care doctor said it was a sprain so we stuck it in a wrist brace for several weeks. This was a few months ago and he no longer wears the brace. Last week at football practice he was going to block a pass (he plays inside linebacker), tripped, and landed on the same wrist, re-aggravating the injury. This time we decided he had better see a specialist. Turns out he broke the wrist back in the spring and it never fully healed. He now needs a CT to determine the extent of the damage. Unfortunately, there is the possibility of the injury requiring surgery. If he needs surgery (we should find out on Monday 6/24), the doctor is saying it is a 3-4 month recovery from the time of the surgery. His hunt starts exactly 3 months from tomorrow. He has been working hard every day on his shooting, so this is a pretty devastating blow to him. I've been doing my research and talking to several people who have been in similar situations, as well as AZGFD. If it comes down to it, getting him a temporary crossbow permit shouldn't be a problem. He desperately wants to use his compound bow, so the crossbow would be a last option. Also, he drew a 12+ point hunt with 4 points, so we are not looking to pointguard it back. A buddy on here had a crossbow, but sold it a couple of months back. I have talked to Junior down at Timber Mesa who suggested a setup that would work for him for relatively inexpensive. But most other guys I have talked to have said that we need to look into the Raven crossbows. The Ravens look pretty cool, but I have a hard time wrapping me head around spending $1500 plus (starting price for a Raven) for a crossbow that we never hope to have to use again after this one hunt. So here are my questions: If it comes down to it and we have to go the crossbow route, what would you guys use? Would anyone with a "good" crossbow consider loaning or renting it out, or is that something people don't do (like with a regular bow). Thanks for you suggestions.

Can't speak to these models, but my wife decided that after 10 years with my old bow, she wanted to buy me a new one. I'm just shy of 6'4" and very much prefer longer axle to axle bows. I shot the longer offerings from all of the major companies and found the Bowtech BT-Mag to be my bow of choice. Second place, the Hoyt Helix Ultra, was what I was leaning towards going in. But after shooting side by side, it really wasn't even that close. Great service once again by Junior down at Timber Mesa.

SOLD! Plano (really BIG but cheap) Airline Telescoping Rod Case
rossislider replied to Outdoor Writer's topic in Classified Ads
I have one just like this, minus the wheels. Great case! I can put 10+ rods in mine and primarily use it to store them safely so my kids don't beak my good rods. Also works great for traveling in the back of my truck so other gear doesn't crush, break them. -
I went with the Guide Non-Insulated. Best boot I have ever used to date. Ross has about as good of a selection as I have found locally.

Flying with Alaska airlines? Checked rifle costs?
rossislider replied to cb375hh's topic in Other Big Game
Not on Alaska Airlines, but flew to Kansas on Delta and home on Southwest this spring with a double rifle Pelican type case (Cabelas brand). It is well over the linear inch max, but neither airlines seemed to care or charged extra. I think weight is of bigger concern to them. They were sticklers on the 50 pound limit for our suitcase. We had to do some major repacking of our big suitcase (it had a whole frozen turkey in it) at baggage check-in because they wanted $75 for being 5 pounds over 50. https://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabela-s-Armor-Xtreme-Tactical-Rifle-Takedown-Shotgun-Case/1318396.uts -
I think it being a lefty makes it a tougher sale. Good luck. I am sure someone will want it.
