Happy National Jerky Day (This Time 35% off)

I was fortunate to get in early today while most everything was in stock and spent way too much. I've got the meat sweats just thinking about it.

    SOLD-Price Drop $15 Cabela's Boot Dryer

I'd be interested for $15 if you would hold it till I get up that way or you come to the valley next. I expect to be up in Payson in the next few weeks to pick up something from Mogollon taxidermy. No worries if you don't want to hold it.
  3. I believe you can. I know I can back the feed up and watch what already happened.
  4. Before my feed crashed, they shot all the petitions down with extreme prejudice. The will be back for a few more things in a few minutes. There are a handful of things scheduled for specific times (so the people involved can show up) but they are moving through everything else.
  5. I remember watching that too. I think I am probably more excited about this. I don't know OJ personally, but Blake was always a jerk to me and pretty much everyone, so more invested in this. Side note, Nobull claims his brother is trying to turn his life around. I hope this is true, and if so, I would be happy to help a truly penitent guy get back on track. We will see.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that a different political forum? This should be the one related to hunting that does not require a password.

Seemed to be the most relevant. I follow this website by recent content. If you do that, the topic doesn't matter.
  8. Already seems to be crashing with only 50ish viewers. Probably won't be working by this afternoon.

FYI, I created a new thread for the meeting to move it off of this post.
  10. Glad to see they don't seem interested in considering all the stupid point guard petitions. They are all being shot down fast. Like the one commissioner said, the reason Point Guard was created is to allow hunters to purchase "insurance" for their points for unforeseen circumstance. Not buy it after the unforeseen circumstance has happened. Quote of the day by one of the commissioners (paraphrase) "I would love to buy homeowners after that fact, but it doesn't work that way." For any not watching and reading about this later, the commission is discussing the possibility of not have to consider these stupid petitions about point guard "after the fact" in the future, but general counsel (the lawyer) doesn't like that idea.

    Get those apps in

Nope, this application would get bypassed for the next single applicant.

    Get those apps in

My brother and his kids keep saying they want to get into hunting and ask me for help. Every year I promise to take them, select some hunts that would be great for them, tell them everything they need to do to apply, and send daily text reminders leading up to the app deadline. This morning I sent him a text to verify he got his apps in. The reply, "Not yet, I plan to do them tonight." I refuse to do 100% of the work for them. If they can't be bothered to do the app themselves after I have given step by step instructions with hunt numbers, and plan to take them with my limited time off from work, I feel no guilt. Different year, same story. Sorry rant over. Some horses you can't even lead to the water, let alone get them to drink.
  15. I've been processing my own meat for a number of years now with great results using a LEM 3/4 hp grinder. The grinder runs as well as the day I first used it, and has chewed through at least a dozen elk, probably twice that many deer, several antelope, javelina, etc. I am really happy with it, but decided long ago that at some point I would upgrade to a bigger one that can really crank out the meat. I am thinking this may be the year and have been looking primarily at three different brands LEM, Weston, and Cabela's. Overall I've been very happy with LEM, but am always willing to try something better. So my main question is, who has used more than one of these brands of grinders and what are your thoughts about the differences. Not to offend anyone, but I'm not interested in hearing from the typical "Ford/Chevy" guys who are so blindly in love with their own brand that they can't see that someone might be making something better. I'm happy to hear what you use and why you like it, but I really wold like to hear a comparison between the three. Side note: When I upgrade, I will probably go with a 1.5 hp or larger. Thanks

    Meat Grinders (Updated with Video)

I ordered the dual grinder attachment mentioned previously from Amazon and received it yesterday. I was a bit skeptical that it would work well without bogging down, so I wanted to try it ASAP. I figured I would send it back if I wasn't happy with it. IT WILL NOT BE GETTING SENT BACK!!! This thing is amazing! I tested it by grinding 20 pounds of pork (unfortunately I didn't have any wild game that needed grinding). It chewed through the double grind as fast as I could feed the tube. I went through all 20 pounds, double ground, in well under 5 minutes, probably quicker. Grinding the burger is by far the slowest part of meat processing for my. But with the second "fine grind" no longer necessary, I bet I cut the burger time down by at least 75% if not more. If you have a LEM grinder, this is a must! I probably saved myself a big chunk of money as I no longer plan to upgrade my grinder. 20200608_093254_1.mp4

    Meat Grinders (Updated with Video)

It has not let me down at all. The second grind on the burger is where the process slows down and turns into a literal grind, that is the biggest reason for wanting a bigger neck. I can't keep up with how fast my .75hp LEM chews through the meat on the course grind, it is the second grind that SUCKS! I just ordered the dual grind attachment and may have to buy some pork butts and make sausage to test it out once it arrives.

    Meat Grinders (Updated with Video)

Agreed about the largest throat possible, that is why I am looking at the 1.5 hp. I also just discovered LEM's new dual grind attachment. That may be a game changer for me. https://www.lemproducts.com/product/big-bite-dual-grind-attachment/butcher-meat-grinder-attachments

    First Time applying

As others have suggested, you have to call AZGFD to do it that way.

    6.5 Creedmoor Reload Data

41.1 grains of H4530 behind a 143 grain ELD-X shoots extremely well out of both of my 6.5 Creedmoors. I measured my speed at 2661 FPS out of my Ruger Precision. I have not yet had a chance to speed test the round out of my daughter's Tikka, but it groups nicely. I also trim my brass after every shot to 1.910. I use Hornady brass with Federal Match (GM210M) large rifle primers.
  21. Someone on one of the Show Low Facebook pages mentioned something about the wild horses and Blake. Did he shoot one of those too?
  22. Missed that one. On his page or a particular thread?

I think this would be a horrible precedent for the future, and probably why they don't allow it.
