Michigan tells Unions to back off

Welcome to the world of the unionized work force. To be fair, not all unions are this way, just the majority and especially the big ones. -
Michigan tells Unions to back off

Love the end where we learn these guys have only been suspended while their union tries to work something out! If these guys worked for me (no union) they would be out of a job. -
Michigan tells Unions to back off
rossislider replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I have never belonged to a union nor worked for a company that was unionized. That said, I have received pay increases and promotions at every organization I have worked for, and not because a union went to bat for me. I have received my raises and promotions because I have gone to my job each day and strived to make my boss and company as successful as possible. In the process I make myself a more valuable employee and of more worth to my company. This makes them : A. Want to reward me for my efforts B. Make certain I am satisfied with my compensation so T will not leave C. Let other employees know that quality hard work is recognized, rewarded, and appreciated This is how business should work. However, as is often the case, when a company is unionized and is forced to compensate lousy workers proportionally with the best ones, it tends to create an environment of mediocrity and laziness. Your first sentence says it all. Quit spouting crap you hear on tv, or other people saying unless you know from experience. I can spout the same crap " workin non-union only promotes a$$ kissing and lazy people being promoted from kissing said a$$". Neither statement is true so quit spouting things you don't know about. That is a generalization that probably happens but isn't the norm. A. as a union employer I could reward any of my workers for their efforts and did. The union contract only stated what the minimum I had to pay. B. making certain workers are satisfied is good business. It has nothing to do with union vs. non-union. If a union worker isn't happy he is just as likely to quit. C. Letting other employees know that quality hard work is recognized, rewarded, and appreciated is good business. Again has nothing to do with union vs. non-union You proved my point. Most people with that blanket statement that unions are bad are absolutely ignorant of the facts. I would classify ignorance as personal attacks on people you don't know anything about, their education, what they might know about the subject, what research they might have done, their personal experiences, etc. Not everyone who disagrees with you watches Fox News. -

Got My 2011 Late Rifle Bull Back from 2 Windy Taxidermy
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Taxidermy
I went with him last year on a bear hunt. I'm 34 and he kicked my butt! I felt like we were flat out running up those mountains! I told him to keep going though. Didn't want to waste a minute of the hunt. He really worked hard for me and I really appreciated it. -

Cody sent me a picture of your bull a few months back and then I saw the antlers in Will's shop this past weekend. Awesome! Congratulations on the hunt! -

I don't think he has a website. I believe most of Will's business comes from referrals and word of mouth advertising. If you shoot me a PM with your email address I'll send you over his flier and price list. -
Nice bull! I wouldn't be too surprised that the bullet didn't exit the bull. I've seen elk shot with larger calibers that likewise never exited the animal. It’s probably a good thing. It left the cape in better shape and might have saved some meat. I’d look at it like a good handgun self-defense round. FMJs are great for practice and cheap to shoot. Likewise FMJs would pass through a person or animal with easy, but they are less likely to put your target on the ground. The best defense rounds (like hydra shok) are designed for maximum bullet expansion and knock down. A pass through means the bullet did not leave all of it’s energy in the target. Additionally, anything behind you target is at risk once a bullet has passed through your primary target. Not a good thing if you should need to shoot a home invader with possible loved in nearby rooms.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I picked up my bull last night. I ended up borrowing a buddy’s cargo trailer for the job. Will at 2 Windy Taxidermy helped me screw the mount to a large piece of plywood, and then we bungied the antlers to the side of the trailer in 4 different directs. It was a long round trip trek last night starting at 5:00 PM from Mesa, then to Show Low, and finally back to Queen Creek getting home around 1:00 AM. But the mount didn’t budge and inch and looks fantastic!

I heard from my taxidermist that my shoulder mount from last year’s late rifle hunt will be ready in the next few weeks. My taxidermist is in Show Low and I live in Queen Creek, so I am looking for suggestions on transporting it back to the valley. There is no chance of it fitting in the back of our Tahoe, and I’m afraid the wind on drive down to the valley in the back of my truck would cause it to lose half of it’s coat. The only other idea that I had would be to rent a Uhaul cargo trailer in Show Low and drop it off in the valley. Unfortunately, they require a minimum two day rental, even though I only need the trailer for half a day. Then there is the concern that that light trailer would bounce around like crazy on the highway. I’ll gladly pay for the two day rental and crawl home slowly to get the mount home in good shape, but wouldn’t be opposed to a cheaper/better option. Anyone on here have any experience with this, suggestions, and/or ideas? Thanks

Deliveries, Queen Creek to Show Low for Gas Money

Will Heuett with 2 Windy Taxidermy. -
Well after a year I got word from my taxidermist up in Show Low that my elk mount will be ready for pick up tomorrow. So, I’ll be headed out tomorrow after work with my truck and 5x8 cargo trailer to pick it up. My truck bed and trailer will be empty on the way up and partially empty on the return trip bask the same evening. As such, the thought occurred to me that I might offer the space to haul up or back cargo for anyone who might be willing to help me out with some gas money. The current plan is to leave tomorrow around 4:00 PM and return back late in the evening. If anyone is interested shoot me a PM and we will see if we can work something out. Thanks

Quality gunsmith suggestion?

Maybe shoot it with a tranqualizer first?

Inconsistency in bullet Projectiles
rossislider replied to huntjunkie's topic in Long Range Shooting
Hey Stan- Last week when Steve and I were at the range, he put a 3 shot 100 yard group together so tight that you really couldn't tell if two or three rounds had gone through the target. He is also shooting 4831sc with 150 gr Barnes TTSX. I'll find out his powder weight and muzzle velocity. Maybe we ought to give it a try. -

The scope has been sold. Thanks to all who inquired. -
I'm selling my Vortex Viper 3.5-10x50 V-Plex Scope. I had it on my rifle for about two months and only had it to the range on two occasions. As you can see in the picture I still have the box and all original materials it came with. Other than the reticle, it is identical to the scopes seen at the following link: http://www.opticspla...-vpr-m-03p.html I'm also including the Warne 1" scope rings to mount it with. http://www.sportsman...04834/cat100747 Asking $300 Thanks Sean

I hunt 1 and 27 as well. Last time I checked the point total was up close to 20. I think this was about a year and a half ago.

I got this in an email this morning from a friend. Enjoy! Check List Complete: I scouted the area all summer. . . I searched out the best location for my tree-stand . . ... I set it all up a month ahead of time . . . I trailed the herd . . . I picked out a trophy buck .. .. Two days before opening day I rechecked every aspect of the hunt . .. Everything was in place . . .. Sunday morning, I woke up at 2 am . .. . I put on my camo, loaded my pack, set out for my stand . . . This was destined to be an epic hunt . . .. As I approached my deer stand... . . I changed my mind, decided to go to church instead.

Shot my first elk with a 270. I also recommend a 7mm-08 or a 30-06. Both excellent rifles for elk, deer, etc. I recently purchased a Tikka T3 7mm-08 for my wife and soon to be old enough to hunt son to use for elk and deer. It has a good size bullet (7mm/.284) but a fairly light recoil.
