Those Talleys are great rings for the Tikkas, especially since they are made specific for that rifle and don't require additional bases. The fewer parts the better. I'd stick with your Talleys.

Great buck! I haven't been able to get out this year so sure appreciate all you guys posting these great pics.

My buddy is there this weekend looking for a buck. Still looks like summer. A very wet summer!

Amazing buck! To bad it had to be cheapened by the logo in the top right corner.

Anyone Have a Barnes Loading Manual Handy
rossislider posted a topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I was getting ready to load some 7mm-08 rounds tonight using 140 grain Barnes TTSX bullets with IMR 4350 powder. I thought I had the min and max powder weights written down but now can't seem to find them. Can anyone with a Barnes manual help me out? Thanks -
bear hunting danger
rossislider replied to jeremiah lindsey's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I've hunted both and find lions to be much more intimidating. I think bears are much less likely to stalk people and aren't nearly as stealthy and quiet as lions. -
Good question. I doubt it, but I would also love to hear from someone who knows for certain. When do we get to see some pics of that buck?
-
They do tend to stick to a general area unless chased out or forced to leave for food or water. I wouldn't worry to much if I were your buddy. Lions are everywhere. It would be hard to find an area where there wasn't one fairly close. People just don't know see them often and have no idea how close they really area. Carrying a sidearm is never a bad idea though.

Looking for a tag holder, unit 1 youth hunt

Very cool of you to do this. I'm a unit 1 man myself. My oldest turns 9 in a week and will be able to start putting in next year. Can't wait! -
Wow, that is awesome! Congratulations!

Nice job! Unfortunately, my wife has heard to many stories like these and doesn't let me hunt the boarder or go to Rocky Point anymore. Its a shame because there are few vacation places I enjoy more.

That is awesome! Glad he stuck with it and was rewarded by finding his bear.

A smaller lion or a large bobcat?

Lol, I thought that escalated quickly . Diminished even quicker! No doubt! Talk about disappointing. What happened to the good old days where people would go on for pages and bashing each other for days. Then at some point they would start dragging each others family members into the insults.... wait, maybe that is my wife and I am thinking of.

Like always, looks great!

They probably said similar things about the Montana/Wyoming wolves in the beginning, now it is getting out of control. Previous generations hunted these things to near extinction for a reason. I think they made a good choice.

Thanks to the help of Bonecollector I was able to get some Ulnmers and tried them our a couple of weeks ago. I tried shooting 5 different broadheads into my Rienhardt target. Please note, all I was testing was accuracy compared to my field points at 40 yards, not penetration, blade expansion, etc. I tried the following: Mechhnicals: Rage Ulmer Edge Swhacker All three seemed to shoot pretty consistent with my field points. But I gave the edge to the Ulmers because I liked what seems to me to be a smaller more compact and stronger construction. The Ulmers do not open as easily as some of the others, but I don't think it would be a problem on an animal like an Elk or a deer. Fixed: Montec Slick Trick I've had issues with Montecs shooting the same as my field points in the past. There was no improvement this time around. I was very impressed with Slick Trick which seemed to be dead on with my field points arrow after arrow. My winners: Slick Trick & Ulmer Edge. I will probably rotate between the two depending on the animal I am hunting.

Thanks for your help everyone! -
I've seen them up there in the Greens Peak/Pole Knoll area while scouting and hunting. This is potentially great news!

+1 on Sitka gear. I don't yet own any, but I have heard and seen great things about it. Of the higher end/higher priced clothing, it is probably the only I would consider buying.
