Got back in town last night from my oldest boy's first ever hunt. It was awesome experience for both of us! I'll post up some pictures for now. HUGE thanks to my friend Cody, his dad, and his daughter for letting us join them and for playing a giant role in Draysen's success. Couldn't have happened with out them.

I had some quantity updates. The most recent information of what is available is in the first post. Thanks -
***Update*** I now have the powder in hand. My latest order of powder that I back-ordered for myself an some buddies several months ago just shipped. I ordered a lot more than I normally do to get the price per pound lower than last time. All is fresh from the factory, new, unopenen, and in 1 pound canisters . You must be willing to pick the powder up in either the Queen Creek or Tempe area. I can also meet somewhere on my route between these places after work. Asking $30 per 1-pound canister (which is cheaper than Sportsmans, Bass Pro, Cabela's, Bruno's etc once you figure in tax). I have the following quantities remaining: Retumbo - 1 H4831sc - 1 H4350 - 1 Please PM me what you are interested in and how much you are looking for. First come first serve. Ill update this post when the various powders are all spoken for. Also include a number I can text or call you at once your powder arrives. Thanks

It will be my 10 year old's first hunt! Headed up to 27 tomorrow. I've never been so nervous about and anxious for a hunt, and I don't even have a tag with my name on it.

The first of my children had reached hunting age and has his first deer hunt next week. As I shop for camo for him, and his younger siblings to use in the future, I am finding youth camo is just as expensive as adult camo. In some cases it is more expensive as it doesn't seem to go onsale. Let me know if the last of your youth hunters have outgrown any of their camo. If it is still in good usable condition, maybe we can work something out. Thanks

My son is 10 so those might be perfect. What area are you in?

I bought a lifetime license a couple of years ago and don't worry about it anymore.

As a number of you know, I have a contact who I have, on occasion, been able to get powder from. He called and let me know he has some stuff I had backordered several months ago in stock. But I had backorder A LOT this time and don't want to pay for and ship it all unless I know you guys want it. I'll list what is and isn't in stock on my backorder. Please just give me some idea if you are interested in any of it, and how much so I know what to have him ship. Thanks All in new unopened 1 pound canisters: Retumbo - 15 LBS in stock (a lot of this is already spoken for) H4831SC - 10 LBS in stock (about half of this is spoken for) H4350 - 30 LBS in stock (only a few pound spoken for, I might cut this order back a lot if I on't get much interest) H1000 - 10 pounds in stock (all spoken for) 20 pounds still on backorder Depending on how much I order the price per canister will be between $30-$35 each. Please PM me Thanks

So many tags in 33 and 37b that it has gone to crap from what it used to be.

Bullet grain for 300 RUM
rossislider replied to craigster's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I was up at the range this past weekend working on my 300 RUM load. I'm shooting 210 grain Bergers with exactly 91 grains of Retumbo. Three rounds through the chronograph all came out at exactly 2990 FPS. This grouping at 200 yards speaks for it's self. 210 grain Bergers through a 300 RUM may sound like a lot for coues, but you won't have to track it far! -
Nicely done. Looks like you are acclimating well up there!

Nicely done. Congratulations to all!

I've definitely had my disagreement with Couse 'n' Sheep about certain guides in the past, but agree with him on this one. I consider myself an average working class Joe and don't have the type of money it would take to spend on big name guides on a regular basis. However, I have had the opportunity to hire small outfitter/guides on two different occasions. Both time were instances where I was attempting to hunt a type of game that was new to me. I don't come from a hunting family. We aren't all fortunate enough to have dads that raised us in the mountains hunting, and who could teach us from their many years of experience. Most of what I know has been self taught or learned from friends. I hired the guides because I considered these individual to be someone with a great deal of knowledge and experience. I saw them as tutors who could teach me to hunt the given species so that I would feel comfortable doing it on my own in the future, and eventually pass that information on to my children. I considered both of these hunts to have been extremely successful, and yet I didn't harvest an animal on either hunt. I'm not so hypocritical that I wouldn't be willing to admit that there are circumstances where I might consider hiring a guide in the future should I have the opportunity for that "once in a lifetime" hunt. This said, I don't agree with all of the tactics and methods used by a few guides/outfitters, and would never hunt with them. But as long as they are ethical and within the law, I will support their right to do what they do.

I have a Vanguard Alta+ 264AO in that price range. It is probably a little on the big side, but several guys I spoke with talked me into it because it is solid! I was going to go a little smaller and lighter, but with my spotting scope zoomed way out I am glad to have something solid and heavy that will not twitch in the wind. I can also hang my pack from it for extra weight and stability. http://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-Alta-264AO-3-Section-Bird-watching/dp/B001HBIZ08
