Anyone have a good wild Turkey recipe???
rossislider replied to Big Browns's topic in Cooking Wild Foods
Still working on getting our first wild turkey, but when I do I plan to use my tradition thanksgiving method. Brine for 2 days, stuff with apples, onions, butter, and seasonings, and then smoke it over pecan wood for about 10 hours. This makes my store birds taste fantastic and fall apart tender. Hopefully I'll soon get a chance to try it on a wild bird. -
We are going to head up there tonight, so I guess we will cross our fingers and see how it goes.

Has anyone fished Sunrise recently? How was it? What effect has the low water level had? Thanks
-
Yikes, I sincerely wish you luck. AZGFD doesn't have a great record for fixing this type of thing.

Not necessarily this exact one, but I bought one like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/License-Plate-Bracket-Holder-Arctic-Cat-Can-Am-Honda-Kawasaki-Polaris-Yamaha-ATV-/331112583996?hash=item4d17d9133c

We bought a cheap bracket/light combo kit on ebay. Not fancy but does the job.

Neither will let you camp anywhere near the water. As far as the fishing, it is pretty much a toss up. Knoll lake is a lot further back in, but that can also mean smaller crowds. Still, with it being a holiday weekend, it will be crowded at both.

We were headed up for the weekend anyway. We'll definitely swing by and check it out.

PLEASE READ....Jr Deer & Cow Elk Hunters....
rossislider replied to azelkhunter2's topic in The Campfire
My son and I went to our first camp this year (unit 1 turkey camp). It was a great experience. If you haven't been to one, you should definitely check it out. Were it not for Wyoming antelope hunting we would be there! -
The AZGFD officer/warden in charge of this (I don't remember her name) was in the unit 1 turkey camp back in April and addressed this the last night of the camp. She said that kids had to have helmets on 100% of the time without exception or a citation would be given.

Last fall I finally bit the bullet and dropped the cash for a grinder. Unfortunately, my inability to draw tags has limited my opportunities to use it. I did get to grind about 30 lbs. of burger from my son’s coues buck last October and did about 30 lbs. of a buddy’s elk. Fantastic grinder! It chewed through the meat faster than I could keep it fed. I highly recommend the LEM 3/4 hp power grinder to anyone looking to process their own meat, it is a beast. The only limiting factor is how fast you can stuff the meat in. Might not be cheap up front, but you will get all of that back after processing your first couple of animals, you will know you are getting back 100% of your animal, and you will know how the meat was handled. I'll add that I have used 3 different processors, some where better than others. But the best meat I have had is the stuff I have processed myself. A couple weeks ago I was able to pick up about 30 pounds of pork butts for $.99 a pound so decided to give sausage making a go. Feeding the casings was a bit awkward at first for a newb, but by the end I was starting to get a good flow going. A little pre-grind trim Ready for the grinder Course Grind Ingredients added prior to fine grind After second grind Stuffed sausage wheels Final product

My dad had an issue like this with his rental house. The guy renting the house had water bills around $300 and $400 in consecutive months before letting my dad know. They figured out that there was a broken pipe somewhere between the road and the house under the ground, but they weren't sure where without digging the whole thing up. They got two estimates to repair. One was around $3500 and the other around $4000. Instead we contacted a landscaper who came over with his workers. Instead of digging everything up they trenched a new line and tied into the old one at the street and house. Cost about $500 in parts and labor.

WTB---300 ultra brass/215m and 210m primers
rossislider replied to JJ_Gibbs's topic in Classified Ads
I don't have a huge supply, but could spare a few Federal Gold 210M or 215M primers to get you started. How many do you need? -
Is the draw length adjustable on this?

I'd suggest holding off a day or two to make certain it is working right. It would suck to think the system took the application and not have it accepted because it wasn't ready or functioning and miss out. And before a bunch of people start jumping on about how the online system is crap and how we need to go back to paper apps. I'd submit that more people miss out because of paper app errors than online errors. I am one of those people.

It means that it is being "taken to top" (ttt) or bumped up to the top of the list of new content.

If it were my kid I'd congratulate him and then pin him down to shave his head! LOL, the shot is a lot more ethical than that mop on the top of his head!

I'm in! -
I have several Vortex Viper scopes. Great scopes, zero regrets. Only scopes I will buy.

There is also a place in Apache Junction that sells it. It is on Apache Trail in the area of Ellsworth? I looked into it for our Tahoe several years back when gas prices where at their peak. It was quite a bit cheaper but after doing some math, I determined the loss in MPG combined with driving a few extra miles to fill my tank made it not worth it.

Growing up I rode a Honda ATC (three wheeler). After college I bought a Yamaha Raptor. Later I went with a Honda Rancher, then a Polaris Sportsman. I currently own a Polaris Ranger Crew. All were great machines for their specific purpose. For reliability it is really hard to beat Honda. They tend to be less fancy, but they just run and run and run. I will say that I have driven in just about every terrain out there in my quads and have yet to get myself in a situation that I needed 4x4 to get out of. So don't discount a good deal on a 4x2.
