  1. Before any of you give up hope of drawing a tag and jump out of a window or step in front of moving traffic, please take down my contact information or give me yours. I want to buy your hunting equipment from you families for pennies on the dollar after you are gone. Sorry, couldn't resist. It's been so long since I knew I had a tag that I think I'm a bit delirious today.

    Card hit!

Highly doubt they are done, but they are probably 90% of the way through.

    Jackpot!

Get her our shooting a 22lr and work up from there. The minimal sound and recoil probably won't bother her to much. IMO one of the worst things you can do when teaching a kid is have them start out should loud powerful guns before they have built up their confidence. Went this route with my now 10 year old son and got him his own 22lr to practice with when he turned 8. He has turned into a really good shooter. After a few years of practice, he isn't afraid to shoot any of my rifles. His rifle of choice is now my 300 RUM (with a brake).

Don't Jump Out of a Window Just Yet!!!

Congrats on a sheep tag! Maybe a week or two before they post em up. I think it is a non-resident deer tag.

Don't Jump Out of a Window Just Yet!!!

Sorry buddy, G&F just sent out an email saying they have to re-do the process due to the system being hacked yesterday. Probably the same people who hacked wall street and the airline. Bummer for all you who thought you got a tag. Check the website, they have the information listed there. LOL, sorry for you pain Adam. You are more than welcome to head up to 13B or 3C to start scouting for me if it will give you some comfort or if you have extra time on your hands???

    Jackpot!

Congrats to your girls. I'm in the same situation. My son drew a December cow tag and now a 3A/3C mule tag. He's out of his mind excited.

    Card Hit With Screen Shot

Dang, my 10 year old also drew a tag! Only put him in for the 3A/3C Mule hunt. This kid's luck in making me sick! It took me 6 years, he gets it first go around.

    Anyone Save that Cabelas Coupon?

Try this website. With or without the $50 off $500 coupon, you could same an additional chunk of change. I've purchased gift cards from this site at least 20+ times and not a problem yet. I've purchased from the site for Home Depot, Lowes, Cabelas, Bass Pro, Sportmans Warehouse and several others. Just as good as if you went into the store to buy a gift card. Used them to buy a couple rifles, binos, loading supplies, lawn mower, etc. https://www.raise.com/buy-cabela-s-gift-cards

    Just another statistic, kid

I blame a lot of it on tree hugging liberal hippies. Finding cameras in the woods is fun. Pause long enough to give the owner something to laugh about when checking picks and move on.

    what chainsaw to buy

My wife bought me an 18" Ryobi chainsaw for Father's Day a few years ago. Like most Ryobi products, it isn't necessarily contractor grade, but that isn't what I need. It is perfect for a half dozen camping/hunting trips per year at a very reasonable price. Three years of use now without a problem and runs like the day I got it. I just resharpen the blade every couple of trips. Not bad for just over $100. Most of the other brands mentioned here are fantastic, but may also be more than you need at a much higher price. Also, for something like a chainsaw that will likely sit for months at a time without use, I highly recommend using Trufuel. It is a premixed fuel that is ethanol free and has fuel stabilizers in it. You buy it in quart size cans at Home Depot for about $6 a can. Certainly more expensive than buying and mixing your own gas, but it will save you at least 10 times the value of the additional cost in aggravation from having a chainsaw that won't start because it has sat and the ethanol in your fuel has gummed up the engine. It is also a super convenient size can that fits in my chainsaw box. A little goes a long way. I've cut well over a weeks worth of wood for a multi family camp with under 1 can. Just my two cents.

    This weekends rain?

I'm also up near Heber, closer to Clay Springs. Over the past couple days we have had some pretty good rain throughout the afternoon with some really hard downpours throughout.

    Mexico 2016

Definitely talk to Ernesto. He is a member here. Check out their Facebook page El Trofeo Outfitters. I've chatted with him a bit and gotten a lot of good info. If you get a group together, keep me in mind. I can't commit 100% at this time but definitely want to do it at some point. The only way my wife would ever consider letting me go is with a group.

Huge deer on this FB site.

Shouldn't apologize, can hardly blame someone for looking at monster bucks. I only shared to educate, as someone did for me some years back. Hopefully as more and more of the right type of hunters learn about this stuff, the sooner it can be stopped?

Never sit on your behind when calling lion!

Nice, but you can't post a story like thay without a picture. Not to prove it, but just because lion pictures are awesome!

Huge deer on this FB site.

A lot of those bucks are man made freaks. I remember reading about this years ago and how upset I got. Here is an article that talks about it. http://www.outdoorlife.com/photos/gallery/hunting/2011/09/freak-show-bucks-look-genetically-altered-deer/?image=8
  23. Not sure. They may have a store up at the factory in Portland, but I don't think there is anything local.
  24. Latest Danner Outlet Sale 50%+ Off Special Starts at 9:00 AM PST I post these up about once month so many of you are already familiar with this, and if you have signed up you should get email updates when the sales go live. For any of you unfamiliar, I’ll post the explanation again. Danner does these factory outlet sales about once a month and post a handful of their different models of boot up for sale at prices that are usually 50% off or more (with free shipping) till gone, or for a couple of days. Sometimes the stuff they put up is their ugly crap noone wants, sometimes there are amazing deals on top end hiking and hunting boots. Recently I, and several other here, bought a couple of pairs of Danner boots for $25 each. If you haven’t been to the Danner factory outlet site before, you must create a free account to view what is available for any given sale. Here a link to set up an account: http://www.hitthebreakroom.com/invite/?r=237537 Once the sale starts I’ll check to see if they have anything that seems of interest to this crowd. If so I’ll post it up. Here is the gist from their website: WHAT IS THE BREAKROOM The Breakroom is a members only website where you can go to get a break on premium priced boots and accessories from brands like Danner and LaCrosse. We feature bi-weekly sales on a mix of second quality, USA made boots direct from our Portland factory, in addition to discontinued and closeout styles. All boots are discounted between 30% and 70% off original retail prices. IS THIS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE? You know how that old saying goes, “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.” Our Portland locals will tell you differently. For the last couple of decades, our Danner Factory Store used to be the only place to pick up Factory Seconds and discontinued products at insanely low prices. We’re now opening up this inventory to all members of The Breakroom. BUT REALLY, WHAT’S THE CATCH? Inventory is random and quantities are limited. That’s why The Breakroom is only open for a few days at a time with a select offering of boots. Our product selection is based on the styles that are currently being manufactured at our Portland factory and seasonal boots that are on their way out. Second quality boots have slight cosmetic blemishes, so if you’re looking for absolute perfection it’s best to do your shopping at danner.com instead. Other than that, you get free shipping in the lower 48 states and 30-day returns, so there’s really not much to complain about. HOW DOES IT WORK? We’ll email you when each new sale is about to start (you can also be updated via Twitter orFacebook). Each sale lasts for 3 days or until the product is sold out. So the earlier you shop, the better. Take a break and check out our current deals right now. Once you make a purchase, we’ll ship your boots out between 3-5 business days and you’ll be one step closer to bragging to your friends about the great deal you got on your sweet new boots.
