7mm Mag Tikka t3 Load Data?
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
Thanks for the suggestion. I may look into that later on if I can't find the results I want with the 168 grain bullets. For now I'm trying to maximize my energy down range and want to stick with a bullet that is a little heavier. I'm a big guy and don't care much about recoil. -
7mm Mag Tikka t3 Load Data?
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
My Sendero 300 RUM shoots a lot like that, probably the most accurate and consistent gun I have ever owned. The problem is that gun is a beast to carry around. My hope for the Tikka 7mm Mag is a great shooter that is light to pack for those long hike in hunts. -

Dang! Did you guys do the Canyon Cooler one? I think that may have bee AES. Maybe one like it in the future? -
Very cool idea. I may have to do something like it for my boys. I have a friend who does decorative carvings on gun stocks. I may have to see what he could do.

That sounds fantastic!

Yes. Last thing I do before shooting is put in the ear plugs. I don't wear them the rest of the time. When rifle hunting, it is very rare that I wouldn't have plenty of time to set up for my shot and get my hearing protection in.

Controversy of this individual aside, these podcasts are fantastic. Just dowloaded a couple of the newer ones for my plane ride home from the east coast tomorrow. Jay - I heard a rumor that you may have a podcast coming up on 3C mule deer hunting with Daniel from Burnt Timber? I sure hope so! -

I have ankle issues (surgically repaired) and have found that there isn't a boot out there thay gives me the level of support I need/want. I have gone to a 8" Danner and supplement it with an ASO ankle brace and found the combination of the two to work very well.

Was told by the forest service a couple years back while calling dogs near the lower Salt that a pass was only required if parking in a designated lot where it was required. He said it was not required for pull of the road/shoulder type parking.

My traditional method for keeping my game cool when I'm going to be in the field for a while after the kill, or traveling a ways home is usually as follows: -Several blocks of ice in the bottom of my large cooler. -Garbage bags or other plastic as a barrier to keep the meat as dry as possible. -Meat in my game bags on top of the plastic. I'm assuming this is a pretty common method, but was curious is anyone does anything different that serves them well? I've heard of freezing a lot of small water botttles to keep the moisture to a minimum. Anything else?

Anyone have a cabin rental up north of payson?
rossislider replied to hoghntr's topic in The Campfire
The used to have their own website, but I can't find it now. The phone number on yelp is: (928) 535-5297 Might try calling it. The owner was super friendly. -
I can appreciate some of the negative feeling expressed. Over the years I've had mixed feelings about the auction tags, but as time has passed I’ve come to appreciate the value of them. While I hate the idea of wealth individuals being given privileges over premier tags, I don’t feel this is the case with these particular tags. They aren’t done in backroom deals, large numbers of them aren’t offered, and it doesn’t affect the odds of the average Joe drawing a tag as they aren’t pulled from the number of regular draw tags. Sure it typically takes some of the largest animals out of the population before the general draw population ever gets a chance, but the same argument could be made by rifle hunters about archery hunters getting to hunt first. Sure I might not get a shot at that big bull, buck, etc. that was taken by the auction tags, but realistically, I had no shot at it anyhow. I think the biggest factor for me was how much money is raised through these auctions for our wildlife. Between all of the auction tags, I’d estimate around a million dollars a year is raised. How much better is the rest of the wildlife population for the rest of us through the money that is generated?. Again, congrats to all involved and thanks for letting us be a part of the hunt by osmosis. Hope to hear more about it in the future.

We stayed at this place in Forest Lakes on a hunt several years ago. I'd stay again. http://www.yelp.com/biz/ponderosa-cabins-forest-lakes -
Beautiful dog, someone must be missing it.

I love my Vortex Razors and have a pair in both 10x42 and 12x50. I have seen some in new or like new condition on here for right around that $1000 price range. Vortex has also been amazing to deal with. They have sent me new lens caps when I lost mine (on a couple of occasions), a replacement plug for the bino adapter stud when I lost mine, and replaced the lenses in the 10x42s when I dropped them lens first onto a rock and cracked them. All of this was done for free.

Very nice, I'd be all in if I were in the market or had the funds available. Nice rifle for someone.

Thought I saw your name posted on Facebook. Don't think I've won a raffle in my life, but it's for a good cause so I'll keep trying.

I had the same question when I thought I might have a 13B tag. Did lots of research and asked lots of people in here. My top choice probably would have been A3. But call them quick. Wouldn't be surprised to find they are already booked up. Ryan Hatch would have been another top choice.

How in the heck does a guy draw a second choice late December tag?By having an even more premium tag (like the strip) as a first choice.
