There is nothing new here. People are making a big deal about it because they got an email from Game and Fish this time and they haven't in the past. There is always something of this nature going on. When it comes to AZGFD people just like to complain. Nothing is going to interfere more with someone's hunt and stir up the elk more than the other 500 hunters right there with you.

Had one blow up on me a few years ago. The string, which was almost new, popped at full draw. My bow limbs went flying and the arrow shattered into more pieces than I could find. I was lucky. Lots of small cuts on my arms and face from the bits of carbon fiber. But fortunately I had glasses on. Messed up my glasses, but they protected my eye.

First antelope, first archery kill - UPDATED with story and pics
rossislider replied to bigorange's topic in Antelope Hunting
Great first archery kill. Congratulations! -
Congratulations on the tag and good luck! Hope to have a buffalo tag someday. Only processors I've used are in the east valley or the Show Low area. I bought a grinder a couple years ago and have started doing my own burger, jerky and stuffed sausages. If you were in the east valley I'd invite you to bring any scrap pieces over to grind. I'd love to try some buffalo sausages and jerky.

^^^Agreed, but only if it is true. If you don't need it urgently, wait your turn. Otherwise you are being a d-bag to everyone else patiently waiting on their glass and causing their's to take that much longer. Everyone starts doing this and soon no one will be able to.

My issues have always been the user error, like dropping my binos onto a boulder lens first. Never a defect in the product.

They are decent entry level binos. If you plan to use them extensively for hunting, especially on something that generally requires a lot of glassing (like coues hunting), I'd save up for the vipers.

Generally they will just fix it and send it back without contacting you. If you give them a call they can give you an estimate for when you should receive it. All depends on how many repairs are a head of you. My experience has generally been 2-3 weeks. They are usually pretty great about putting a rush on something if you need them back quick for a hunt. Just don't want people abusing that or they would not be able to do it anymore.

Don't kid yourself about the 30 years. He'll probably be out in 10. With time served, he has about 7 years left...

Yeti, Grizzly, and Canyon Coolers What is the Difference???
rossislider posted a topic in Other Hunting Gear
So outside of the cost, and Canyon Coolers being a local company, what's the difference? Opinions? -
Yeti, Grizzly, and Canyon Coolers What is the Difference???
rossislider replied to rossislider's topic in Other Hunting Gear
I'm in no rush, the price point on these definitely needs to come down. As more players enter the game, it will continue to do so. -
^^^About as good of a deal as you will find on them.

Something to think about when planning your air travel. http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/2015/08/04/major-us-airlines-ban-shipping-big-game-trophies/

Wish it was in my price range. Maybe someday. For now, I love my Leica 1600-B.

Vortex Viper HD 10X42 W/Badlands case
rossislider replied to bonecollector's topic in Classified Ads
I had some of these before I upgraded to my Razors. Great binos for the price and good deal here! Probably well over $700 retail on everything. -
I don't have as much experience blind hunting as many of you do, but I spent 3 VERY LONG days in a blind waiting on a specific buck a few years ago and considered the headphones question myself. Ultimately I was paranoid that the buck I was after might pick up on the slight noise, no matter how faint. So I stuck with my book. Probably read 800 pages that trip and never got my buck. I'd love to hear from some of you more experienced blind guys on the possibility of noise from the earphones being picked up by game?

If you do decide to hire someone, I believe member SWDesertRat has a pest control business. -

You can save a lot of money if you are willing to do a little research and do it yourself. I had a friend who was in the pest control business for many years. Eventually he sold his business and just started selling the professional strength stuff out of a do it yourself store. We had a really bad infestation at our old house and between my son and I, caught and killed over 100 scorpions in one weekend. He turned us on to a product call Cy-Kick CS. It is a very strong product but safe to use inside and out (he told me it is the same stuff he used inside of several hospitals and medical offices) Once it dries it is also safe for kids, pets, etc. You won't find it at Home Depot or Lowes, the stuff they carry is no where near strong enough. I'll post a link to a place that sells it at a very reasonable price. It isn't cheap, but worth every penny and a 16 ounce bottle usually lasts us 1.5 -2 years. Once we started using it it took care of the problem. If anyone wants to give it a try, let me know and I'll post the instructions for treating your yard. http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/cykick-cs-p-250.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjwl6GuBRD8x4G646HX7ZYBEiQADGnzunzsg-QOd5S1dCvVX-Gk5Xgbu7WURj54QTFIy4iFbxkaAqtq8P8HAQ FYI August is prime scorpion season. They are out in force right now so get a black light and be aware! -
I'd love to put this down in my garage, but the thought of having to clear out my garage makes me weep like a child.

I'm in again for my donation. I say donation because I NEVER win raffles. -
Plan on $200 - $250 for an installed brake. I've seen them for higher and lower, but that seems to be a good average. A lot depends on the brand of brake you go with. Most any gunsmith can put a brake on for you, where a really good gunsmith comes into play is how well they blend the brake into the barrel. I've seen some that are so good that you can't tell where the barrel ends and the brake begins. It literally looks like one solid piece. On the other hand, I've seen some that look like some amateur duct taped a hunk of metal onto the end of the barrel. I have a really good gunsmith in Chandler, if that is in your area.

Can you cool a barrel quicker at range
rossislider replied to apache12's topic in Long Range Shooting
I always take at least a few rifle when I go to the range for just this reason, to give them time to cool down between. I've considered several different cool down methods, but most give me cause for concern about potential barrel damage. Seems like the safest option might be to shoot ambient temperature air down through the barrel. I'd want to make sure to have something to filter the air so as not to shoot dust particles into the barrel. I've considered hooking up some sort of small battery powered fan (nothing as powerful as an air compressor) to a tube the size of the chamber that will send a mild stream of ambient air down the barrel. My thought is it would speed up the cool down without exposing it to temperatures that could damage the barrel. If I were more mechanically minded I would make something and patent it. Anyone want to go into business? -

I've come close, but haven't yet ever sold one of my own firearms. I have two sons and a daughter that I hope to pass them all onto one day, because the way things are going with our government, I figure that may be the only way they ever have a chance to own one.
