hunting with your son/sons

Great pics Tommy -
Nice pair for sure. I can't believe he doesn't have an eyeguard on the one side. Is it broke off and the pic doesn't show it?

Exit hole was about the size of a quarter. Couldn't really tell if the bullet held together very well. I haven't been all that happy with the performance of the Ballistic tip in my .270. I have the new Barnes MRX on order and I will be trying to come up with a load with those.

Casey, Used a 130gr Nosler Ballistic tip. It was about a 250yd shot. The pig was on top of a knob and I didn't want him to roll off the back of the hill so I went for a high shoulder shot. Didn't have a great rest so I ended hitting him in the neck and the bullet exited at the base skull on the off side. Needless to say he didn't go anywhere Performance? I think with that shot placement any bullet would of killed him in his tracks. No wasted meat.

Thanks guys Keith, It's great to get the youngsters out. My 6 year old son, Hunter, loves to go out on hikes with the old man. It's the best

Muskrat, Best of luck on the new job. I know what you are going through. On March 30th I will, after 22yrs, be out of a job. I will hopefully be starting a new job by mid April. It's going to be strange after 22yrs of doing the same job and starting something different.

hunting with your son/sons

Father and son hunts are the best. My father is my best huntin buddy and my sons are getting close to being able to hunt. I've taken my oldest on a few hunts already and it has been awesome. I just need to be careful on which hunts I take him on. Don't want him to get too cold or board. I look forward to spending lots of time in the hills with my two boys in the near future -
Happy Birthday Scott As the others have said I always look foward to your stories and pics. Have a great day

Muley. Poachers suck Here in CA if they keep killin bears for the bladders it's going to reduce the quota for us hunters.

And no matter what success we as hunters experience, it's the relationships and time spent afield with freinds like these that truly mean the most. ANDY <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So very well said LittleBear

Moose & Caribou Combo!
DEERSLAM replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I would take a .338 but if the biggest you have is the .300 I would go with that with a well constructed bullet. When I went to AK. I took my .338 even though it was over kill cause I was in the land of the giant coastal bears. Just gives you alittle more confidence and thats a good thing. How many days are you going for? I you guys get a moose down plan on loosing a couple of days of your hunt to packing the meat out. Also bring the very best gear you can afford, AK is no place to find out something does not perform. It could mean your life. On a lighter note, sounds like an awsome hunt, enjoy -

Wow great buck, congrats to your son. I believe what was meant by your son being ruined is that it may be along time before he gets a buck anywhere near as big -
