    Rut?

We spent Sun. thru Fri. hunting 36B hard. We saw abt 100 does and abt 8 forkie and small 3 pt. bucks. We saw zero rut activity. No dominant bucks and zero bucks tending any does. No bucks on the move like you see when they are looking for hot does. Gonna go back out after Christmas. Hopefully this little weather sys might turn something on. Mark
  7. I have a Dec. 36B tag and nobody to go with. All my buddies drew the earlier tags. Besides being a bit dangerous down in that area, I much prefer to hunt as a team w/ another person. Sooo... just wondering if there might be another serious/experienced wt hunter in the same predicament that would like to team up. Giladad1@aol.com

    Berger VLDs

I just received and will start finding a load for the 168's in my 7WSM. Looking for increased bc and accuracy. I've been using 162 A-Max. They worked fantastic last year on 3 bucks. (there are better choices if you want to save meat as theses do alot a damage, I want to do alot of damage.) Even though the A-Maxes work great..... just thought see if I can get any more performance from the Bergers. Mark

    Swarovskis Vs. Leica

I've owned & used both extensively. I prefer the Leicas simply for the versitility. Like two binos for one The Outdoorsmans makes a tripod adaptor. My son still uses my old 15x Swaros. We've compared them alot, can't see any diff in the glass. Mark

    Cleaning optics lenses

Had a guy say overcleaning lenses on optics can remove the fancy lens coatings. I've never heard of that. Think that's possible?. Thanks, Mark H.

  14. I'm a sixth generation Arizonan. I'm thinking of moving on also. Snowbirds and illegals have ruined all the things that used to make our state a great place to be. Giladad

who hunts with ballistic tip ammo?

One thing abt BT's on Coues, you don't want to go light for caliber, like the 125's out of a 30-06. I also made the mistake of shooting an Antelope with 120 BT's out of my 7WSM @ 300 yrds. Blew up on his shoulder but hurt him bad enough he layed down under a tree and could'nt get up. I believe as long as you stay med or heavy for caliber, they're ok on Coues or Antelope size game w/ BT's. M.

Leupold VX-III help with a decision

I like the 50mm, 30mm, side-focus scopes. Once you've had the best, you'll never want to go back. I also use the custom elevation turret w/ the yardage marked on it for my bullet/velocity. Again, in my exper., the only way to go for longer ranges. Mark H.
  18. Have heard many times that deer will not move around much when it is windy. Have also heard that when there is substantial moonlight, the deer will be active at night and not in the day. Was wondering what you guys w/ lots of experience in the field think abt this. Mark
