My wife's rifle is a Winchester Compact in a 7mm-08 with a KDF added and is perfect for her. She took an antelope with it last year using 139 gr. SST / Hornady and a bull elk this year using 140 gr Nosler Partitions / Federal. She has never complained of the kick. Jason

I hunted 23 for elk this year and seen a real nice 4 x 4 (including eye guards) coues deer. I was Northwest of Alma towards the whiterocks. Rough area and better be in shape. Jason

AZHUNTNUT, Congrats on your great bull!!!

I'm heading back up to Unit 10 this week-end and going to pay a visit to Tim (AZGF) on my way through Sielgman and give him the info and dvd. We will see what happens.

This past week-end my wife, dad, and I were up scouting elk in Unit 10 for my wife's upcoming elk hunt and while we were trying to get some footage of a big bull that we nick named big daddy, a plane flew over very low checking out big daddy. The plane flew right over us three times before moving on to the rest of the unit and of course the elk were long gone. The plane was diffently scouting. Does anyone know if this is against the law to do? We did get the numbers on the plane. I have seen this done in New Mexico where guides drive the elk from public to private land before the season starts and know the NMGF have been cracking down on this. It makes me that while I'm out there spending days looking for a giant for my wife, someone is covering the entire unit in a day. I was at a elk calling seminar earlier this year and the host / guide told me that he had already flown the unit twice and at the time I didn't think anything about it until this past week-end and now I think differently of this individual. What's everyone else's opinion on this?, am I over reacting?

I also received this photo from a friend about a month ago and was told it was taken in Arizona last year, but who knows where it was really taken. Great photo though.

bowhunter4life, I liked the calling seminar by Steve Chappel as he is probably one of the best callers I have ever met and anytime I have a chance to learn something knew on calling elk, I'm there.

I went to the Steve Chappell elk calling seminar this past Thursday at Corner Archery and during the introduction it was stated that Non-residents drew 53% of the bull elk tags this year! Has anyone else heard this, because 53% is alot of tags?

Like to get everyone's opinion who they think are the best taxidermist in Arizona or who would you take your next trophy Elk? Coues? Antelope? to? Thanks

I went 0 for 5 and my wife went 1 for 5, she got early bull tag in 10 . I have never seen her so excited and she knew before I did of the draw results... Jason

Does anyone know why AZ does their draw so late? If you get drawn for archery Antelope you have only about a month to scout before the season begins. This waiting for the draw results is driving me crazy. My wife is even asking when are does the draw results going to be out. Jason

It's been a while since I've have posted anything as i could not get my password reset and gave up trying, so I started over.. I drew the Nov Unit 27 Coues Tag and was hoping someone might be able to give me a few places to start scouting..
